Fitna mongers and their role in disrupting the relationship between Ahlebayt(ra) and Sahaba(ra)

As Islam started growing rapidly and Muslims dominated the Arabian peninsula and its neighboring countries, which even gave raise some fitna mongers some of whom were jews, who nurtured an intense rage in their heart against Islam which had squelched the Jewish domination and over – lordship of the Arabs of Madina and Hijaz. When they found that they were a no match against the Muslims, they planned to attack Islam from Inside. So they donned the guise of Islam and entered the Muslim community to lead the Muslims astray and dissuade them from the obedience of their Imams and to sow dissension among them. The main purpose of the unconscionable efforts of the fitna mongers was to knock the unity of the Muslims into a cocked hat, to generate discord, to introduce changes into the inviolate pattern of divine revelation and to inject un-Islamic beliefs into the minds of ignorant and half-witted people. They even knew that it was not easy to do so, thus in order to achieve their satanic goals, they planned to utilize the emotional feeling of innocent people, thus they choose to take name of Ahlebayt(calling those beliefs as teachings of ahlebayt) in order to spread their un-Islamic rather satanic beliefs among the half-witted people. Because we know that often when the smugglers and robbers are caught they try to link themselves to high ranking government officials like ministers(though the ministers may never have any link with these people), So that they can get away easily.  Another example can be given that a product for example wine can easily be sold in a bottle labeled as “honey” Or Labeling it as “Apple juice” as we even see in advertisements. This was the reason the fitna mongers choose to label their un-islamic teachings as the teachings of Ahlebayt , since the muslims of that time immensely loved the Ahlebayt of Prophet(Saw).

Therefore it seems quite in order to give an objective account of the flagitious efforts of the fitna mongers, to whom we are going to call as “SHIAN E DAJJAL” in our article, because such people who propagates hatred and enmity towards Muslims of first generation who were regarded as the best people, cannot be linked to any noble personality. And the discussion that follows will be basically related to fitna mongers(shian e dajjal), their signs, their role in disrupting the relations between Ahlebayt and Sahaba,  How did Ahlebayt deal with them and some of the unislamic beliefs they linked to Ahlebayt.

Signs of Shian e dajjal:

FIRST SIGN:

Shia scholar At-Tusi reported in “Ikhtiyar marifatu Rijal” (1/336) that Imam Ali ibn Husayn (rahimahullah) said:

Jews loved Uzayr so much, that they said regarding him what they said. And Uzayr wasn’t from them neither they were from Uzayr. And christians loved Isa so much, that they said regarding him what they said. And Isa wasn’t from them, neither they were from Isa. And I am on the way from that (way). Group of our shias love us so much, that they said regarding us the same what jews said regarding Uzayr and christians regarding Isa. And they are not from us, and we are not from them.[Ikhtiyar marifatu Rijal” (1/336)]

Comment: This narration shows that there will be a group whose relation with Ahlebayt will be like that of Isa with Christians and Uzayr with Jews. Because no matter if the Christians may claim that they are the true lovers of Isa(as) and they follow him, but as we know they don’t have any relation with Isa(as) similarly the shian e dajjal will even claim to love Ahlebayt in an exaggerated manner, but they don’t have any relation with Ahlebayt.

Similar report is also mentioned in sunni books, Imaam Ahmad bin ‘Amroo bin Abee ‘Aasim said in “as-Sunnah” (2/476):We were informed by Aboo Bakr ibn Abee Shaybah who was informed from Wakee’ from Shu’bah from Abee at-Tiyaah from Abee as-Suwaar al-‘Adawee who said: ‘Alee-may Allah be pleased with him-said: “A group of people will love me to the extent that they will enter the hellfire because of me, and there will be another group of people who will hate me to the point that they will enter the hellfire because of their hatred towards me.” This narrative is saheeh based on the criteria of the two shaykhs: Bukhaaree & Muslim. [“as-Sunnah” (2/476)]

Comment: So we find that there will be a group of shian e dajjal which will exaggerate in love for hz ali(ra), but they will enter hell fire.

SECOND AND THIRD SIGN:

Now lets see what is another sign of such people.

“Ibn Battah reported in his al-Ibaanah al Kubraa, in the chapter: Mentioning the sections of the Nations in their religion and upon how many sects will the Ummah split into, from the Hadeeth of Abee ‘Alee bin Ismaa’eel bin al-Abbaas al-Warraaq who said: al-Hassan bin Muhammad bin as-Sabaah az-Za’faraanee narrated to me that Shabbaabah said, that Sawaadah bin Salamah said that ‘Abdullaah bin Qays(ra) said: “A group of Christians came to ‘Alee (ra) and at the head of them was a major scholar of the Jews. So the leader said: “You debate about how many groups the Jews split into?” He said: “Into seventy one sects”. And ‘Alee(ra) said: “And this Ummah will split into similar to that, and the most deviated and evil sect of them: the ones who call to us (Ahlul Bayt), and a sign of them is that they insult Aboo Bakr(ra) and ‘Umar(ra)” [Al Ibanah tul Kubra chapter “(1\1229 #254)]

Comment: When we reconcile this narration with the above narrations then the conclusion will be that, the signs of the most deviated groups are i) they exaggerate in loving ahlebayt, ii) they will call people towards Ahlebayt. iii) They will insult abubakar(ra) and umar(ra).

FOURTH SIGN:

Let us see what has nahjul balagha has to say on this:

Nahjul Balagha, one of the most revered books of the Shia, Ali (رضّى الله عنه) said in Sermon 126:“With regard to me, two categories of people will be ruined, namely he who loves me too much and the love takes him away from rightfulness, and he who hates me too much and the hatred takes him away from rightfulness. The best man with regard to me is he who is on the middle course. So be with him and be with the great majority of Muslims because Allah’s hand of protection is on keeping unity. You should beware of division because the one isolated from the group is a prey to Satan just as the one isolated from the flock of sheep is a prey to the wolf. Beware! Whoever calls to this course [of sectarianism], kill him, even though he may be under this headband of mine.[Nahjul balagha Sermon 126]

Comment: From this sermon of hz ali(ra) we find that, the shian e dajjal will not be a majority. And the true lovers of Hz ali(ra) will be a majority.

FIFTH SIGN:

Abdullah ibn Ahmad narrated in his Sunnan(#1303):

From Salim ibn Abu Hafs: “I asked Abu Jafar and Jafar about Abu Bakr and Umar (may Allah be pleased with them). And they say: “O Salim, befriend to them, and dissolve from their enemies, indeed they were imams of guidance” And Jafar said to me: “O Salim, Abu Bakr is my grandfather, does man can abuse his grandfather? And may the intercession of Mohammad not reach me on the day of judgement, if I wouldn’t befriend with them, and wouldn’t dissolve from their enemies

Comment: From this narration we find that the shian e dajjal will not consider Abubakar(ra) and Umar(ra) as Imams of Guidance. Unlike how Imams from ahlebayt used to consider them Imams of Guidance.

The Prophet PBUH said: The love of all four will not be found except in the heart of a believer: Abu Bakr and Umar and Uthman and Ali.[al-Bousiri said narrators are trustworthy in al-Ithaf 7/159](This narration is weak)

Comment: The last sign of shian e dajjal is that they will not love these four rightly guided caliphs collectively.

Now the result we get after determining these narrations, is that the signs of shian e dajjal are:

  1. They exaggerate in the love of Ahlebayt
  2. Their call is towards Ahlebayt( but infact its not)
  3. They hate abubakar(ra) and umar(ra)
  4. They are not from the majority.
  5. Apart fro abusing Abubakar(ra) and Umar(ra), shian e dajjal will not consider Abubakar(ra) and Umar(ra) Imams of guidance.

So we request every individual that, if unknowingly “all” of these signs are found in them then please sincerely repent before Allah. And try to save your hereafter. And join the majority(jamaah, Ahlesunnah) . Who don’t exaggerate in loving Ahlebayt, And they love all the four caliphs collectively.

The role of Shian e dajjal in disrupting the relations between Ahlebayt and Sahaba

1. Its mentioned in Shia book:

Amru ibn hamq and hujr ibn udai and habba al-3arni and harith ala3war and abdullah ibn saba’a  came to Ameer al-momineen after egypt was seized and he was sad , then they said to him: What do you say about Abu Bakr and Umar. So Ali said to them, this is what you have time for? and Egypt was seized and my people in it was killed.[shia book “Bihar al-Anwar”; 30/7]

2. Amir AlMumineen (pbuh) wrote a book after he came out of Nahrawan and he ordered that it be read upon the people, that is because the people asked him about Abu Bakr, Omar and Uthman. So, he(pbuh) became angry and said: you had time to ask about what is not your business and that is Egypt was opened and Muwaiya bin khadeej killed Muhammad bin Abi Bakr which is a great tragedy, what great tragedy of mine for by Allah he was like some of my children. Subhan Allah, while we were hoping to beat the people in what they have, as they beat us in what we have.. [shia book “Bihar al-Anwar” 33/567]

Comment: In these reports we find that the shian e dajjal expected hz ali(ra) to give some negative views on Abubakar(ra) and Umar(ra) or that he(ra) would say that I was superior to them. There intentions behind asking these things were very evil. But Hz Ali(ra) realized the intentions of those shian e dajjal that is why he got angry and scolded them.

3. Another shia book states:

Shia scholar Sa’ad bin Abdullah al Asha’ari al Qummi(who died in 301 hijri) said while discussing Sabais: “Sabais are the companions of Abdullah Ibn Saba whose name is Abdullah bin Wahb al Rasibi al Hamdani, from his supporters are Abdullah bin Khurasi and Ibn Aswad who were from his closest companions. He was the first to show hatred and enmity towards Abu Bakr and Umar and Uthman and the companions and disaffiliated himself from them.”[Al Maqalat wal Firaq p20.]

Comment: So we find that it was the shian e dajjal who first showed hatred and enmity toward abubakar, umar and uthman . And on the other hand shian e dajjal used to portray themselves as shia of hz ali(ra). So what message would have the people who were not strong in Eman during those days got from that?

This is what exactly happened:

Once Suwaid ibn Ghafalah visited `Ali during his reign and told him that he had passed a few people amongst whom was ibn Saba speaking ill of Abu Bakr. They claimed that you also held the same opinion.” `Ali retorted: “I have nothing to do with this black filthy creature. I seek refuge from Allah that I hold any opinion other than the best for Abu Bakr and `Umar.” He then exiled ibn Saba saying that he could not tolerate to live with him in one city. `Ali then ascended the pulpit, and after relating the story said: “I will lash anyone who prefers me over Abu Bakr and `Umar, the lashing of a slanderer.“[(Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani, “Lisan al-Mizan”, vol. 3 (1225)]

Other example of the tactics of shian e dajjal:

At-Tabari (5:66) reported and gave a lot of Islamic sources that when Ibn as-Sawda’(`Abdullah b. Saba’) came to Syria, he met Abu Dharr. He said, “Abu Dharr, aren’t youamazed at Mu`awiya saying, “The property is the property of Allah. Doesn’t everything belong to Allah? As if he means to cut it off from the muslims and erase the name of the muslims.” Abu Dharr therefore came to him and said, “What leads you to call the property of the muslims the ‘property of Allah’?” Mu`awiya said, “May Allah have mercy on you Abu Dharr! Are we not the slave of Allah and is not all property His property, and all creation His creation, and all business His business?” Abu Dharr said, “Do not say that.” Mu`awiya said, “I do not say that it does not belong to Allah, but I will say, ‘The property of the muslims.” Ibn as-Sawda’ (`Abdullah b. Saba’) came to Abu’d-Darda’ and Abu’d-Darda’ said to him,”Who are you? By Allah, I think that you are a jew.” Ibn Saba’ came to `Abdullah b. as- Samit and busied himself with him. `Abdullah brought him to Mu`awiya and said, “By Allah, this is the one who sent Abu Dharr to you!” [At-Tabari vol 5 page 66);( al awaasim min al qawaasim  pg 31)]

Comment: Here we find that the shian e dajjal were the ones who tried to create misunderstandings between Abu dharr(ra) and Muawiya(ra).

Role of shian e dajjal in battle of Jamal:

1. Ali said to Talha and Al-Zubair, “O’ Brothers! I am not ignorant of what you know! But what can I do to people who rule us and we don’t rule them? Here they are, and your slaves rebelled with them and the Bedouins as well.” [Tareekh Al-Tabari, vol.2, p.702, Year 35 Hijri].

Comment: Hz ali(ra) hinted here the shian e dajjal. Indicating that they were the ones who used to do the things what they wished but not what Ahlebayt wished.

2. Ali(ra) hoping for a peaceful settlement, marched towards basrah to talk personally with Talhah and Az zubayr. The two armies were facing each other. Ali gave an address to basrites in which he said: I am but your brother……..I will avenge uthman’s assassins. Talhah and Az zubayr and basrites were fully satisfied with what Ali told them. The caliph also returned to his camp very satisfied. He gave strict order to his men not to fight in any case , and keep praying all night.  But Ibn saba and his henchmen had planned otherwise. In the darkness of night , the launched a sudden attack on Ayesha(ra)’s army. Talhah and Az zubayr were startled by the sudden attack and deduced that Ali could not desist from shedding Muslim blood and that he ordered to a night attack. On the other hand, Ali was shocked when he was told by sabaites that Talhah and Az zubar had taken them by surprise. He too thought that they did not try to avoid shedding Muslim blood. (Biographies of the rightly guided caliphs page 358-359)

Comment: Here we find that ugly face of shian e dajjal who actually wanted the Sahaba should fight with each other in the battle of Jamal. Even though things were settled between both  the groups.

3. Al-Tabari says: (And Aysha said: “Ka’ab, leave the camel and advance with book of Allah and call them to it.” And she gave him a mushaf. The people came and the Saba’eiyah were in front of them fearing of a peace to happen. Ka’ab received them by the mushaf and Ali behind them trying to hold them back but they rejected anything but to continue the war. So when Ka’ab called them, the Saba’eiyah threw him with lances. He was killed. Then they started throwing Aysha with lances while she was on her camel. Aysha said, “O’ my children! The rest of you, the rest of you, – then her voice increases in tone – Allah Allah, remember Allah and Judgment Day.” But the Saba’eiyah refused anything but to fight. So the first thing Aysha said when the Saba’eiyah refused to stop, “O’ people, curse the killers of Uthman and their friends.” And then she went on supplicating. Then the people of Basrah started supplicating. Ali bin Abi Talib heard the callers. He said, “What is this noise?” His army answered, “Aysha is calling and her army is calling with her against the killers of Uthman and their friends.” Ali started calling and said, “O’ Allah, curse the killers of Uthman and their friends.”)(Al-Tabari. vol.3, p.43, year,36H )

Comment: We see here that the shian e dajjal didn’t want that peace should occur between muslims in battle o Jamal, all they wanted is to fight. So accusing any of the Sahaba who took part in battle of Jamal from either sides is incorrect. Because they wanted peace. But the shian e dajjal wanted otherwise. So the ones who accuse Sahaba using the incident of Jamal are none but shian  e dajjal.

Similar is what happened in battle of siffin:

1. Narrated Habib bin Abi Thabit: I went to Abu Wail to ask him (about those who had rebelled against `Ali). On that Abu Wail said, “We were at Siffin (a city on the bank of the Euphrates, the place where the battle took place between `Ali and Muawiya) A man said, “Will you be on the side of those who are called to consult Allah’s Book (to settle the dispute)?” `Ali said, ‘Yes (I agree that we should settle the matter in the light of the Qur’an).” ‘ Some people objected to `Ali’s agreement and wanted to fight.[Sahi bukhari 6.367]

2. Sufyan narrates that when Hasan returned to Madina from Kufah, he said to him “O the one who ashamed the believers” He said ” Don’t say this , for I heard the Prophet (s) saying, the days and nights will not seize to alternate until Hadhrat Muawiya does not become Ameer. And when I know that order of Allah happen, I disliked to shed between me and him blood of Muslims. [Al bidaya , v. 8, p. 131]

Comment : We see here that how frustrated the fitna mongers were, such that they went on to criticize hassan(ra)  because of the decision of hz hassan(ra). When he made peace treaty with muawiya(ra) and gave him bayah.

Shia books throw some more light on the fitna mongers:

1. Some people of knowledge mentioned that Abdullah bin Saba’ was a Jew, who embraced Islam and supported Ali. While he was still a Jew, he used to go to extremism in calling Yousha’ bin Noon as the appointee (successor) of Moses, thus after embracing Islam – after the demise of the Messenger of Allah [pbuh&hf] – he said the like about Ali. It was him who first publicly announced the mandatory Imamah for Ali, rejected and disowned his enemies, debated his opponents and called them Kafirs. Hence, those who oppose the Shi’ites often say: The Shi’ites and Rejectors (Rafidah) have their roots in Judaism “.[Source: Al-Kashee, Rijaal, pg. 109, Similar is what mentioned in the book of Baqir Majlisi, (Bihar al-Anwar, 25:287)]

Comment: We find that the shian e dajjal started spreading hatred between Sahaba and Ahlebayt, and they were the ones who propagated false beliefs in the name of Ahlebayt in order to break the Muslim unity even in terms of beliefs.

2. Shia scholar Jafri tells us in The Origins and Early Development of Shi‘ah Islam (p. 300): There is another important point that must be discussed here briefly. A considerable number of traditions are to be found, especially in the earliest Shi‘i collection of hadith, Al-Kafi, which describe the Imams as supernatural human beings. What was the origin of these traditions, and to what extent are the Imams themselves responsible for them? These traditions are reported, as indeed are all Shi‘i traditions, on the authority of one of the Imams, in this case from Al-Baqir and Ja‘far. But were these Imams really the authors of such traditions, which describe their supernatural character? The first thing which must be noted in this connection is that while Al-Baqir and Ja‘far themselves lived in Medina, most of their followers lived in Kufa. This fact brings us to a crucial problem. Kufa had long been a centre of ghulat speculations and activities. Whether ‘Abd Allah bin Saba, to whom the history of the ghulat is traced, was a real personality or not, the name as-Saba’iyya is often used to describe the ghulat in Kufa who believed in the supernatural character of Ali. According to the heresiographers, Ibn Saba was the first to preach the doctrine of waqf (refusal to recognise the death of ‘Ali) and the first to condemn the first two caliphs in addition to ‘Uthman. (Jafri, The Origins and Early Development of Shi‘a Islam, p. 300, Ansariyan Publications, Qum)

Comment: So here from the shia scholar we find the idea of how some beliefs of exaggeration were attributed to Ahlebayt. And who could have done that? Well it was none other than the shian e dajjal because the beliefs of Sahaba and Ahlebayt were not different and these were the same upon which Ahlesunnah are.

3. Another shia scholar Shaykh Muhammad Husayn az-Zayn al-‘Amili writes in his book ash-Shi‘ah fit-Tarikh: However it may be, Ibn Saba definitely existed and manifested ghuluww (extremism), even though some people doubt his existence and made him out to be an imaginary character created by personal interests. As for us, on grounds of the latest research we have no doubt concerning his existence and his extremism… Yes, Ibn Saba exhibited extremism in his religion. This innovation of his seeped into the thinking of a group that was by no means small, and that group was named after him. (Muhammad Husayn az-Zayn, ash-Shi‘ah fit-Tarikh, p. 213, Dar al-Athar, Beirut, 1979)

Comment: This is sufficient answer from a shia scholar to those shian e dajjal of present era , who deny that there existed people with some similar beliefs like of theirs because they find it hard to digest since those people were punished and cursed by the Ahlebayt.

How shia e dajjal used to misinterpret Quranic verses:

Ibn saba(head of shian e dajjal) started off in basrah where he propagated his wicked mission among all groups of people. Among his sayings which constitute the basis of his mission are. Each prophet has wasiyy(nominated successor) and Ali is the successor noiminated by Muhammad, so who, then does more wrong than one who does not abide by the nomination of the people? And Uthman illegitimately seized it(the caliphate), So you should revolt against your leaders and pretending that you are enjoining good and forbidding evil. Ibn saba also attacked the great companions; he was the first to accuse abubakar and umar and degrade them. Yet Ali dissociated himself from Ibn saba and accused him of lying against Allah and his messenger. Ibn saba however continued his deviant claims to the extent that he claimed, “It is strange for one to believe that jesus will descend and deny that Muhammad will return” deceiving people by searching for proof(for his claim) in Allah saying: Verily He who ordained the quran for thee, will bring thee back to the place of return. (al qasas : 85) Once the governor of Basrah knew about his claims, he dismissed him. Ibn saba therefore headed for kufa where he resumed his destructive activity. Yet soon the kufa’s governor dismissed him, too. He next went to Syria. By that time, he already poisoned the atmosphere in Iraq spreading such evil thoughts that deeply affected many people whose faith was still frail even though they were muslims. (Biographies of the rightly guided caliphs page 306)

Comment: we find that the shian e dajjal of that era used to fool people by interpreting verses of quran in the way they like, same as the present day shian e dajjal do, by giving out of mind interpretations to quranic verses.

The tactics of shian e dajjal still continues:

The fact is that those tactics of shian e dajjal didn’t stop, those tactics are still conituned even after centuries, where they play a notorious part in dishonoring the blessed sahaba. Here is an example where an esteem shia scholar made a dirty trick to dishonor Umar(ra) (this research was done by a shia who claims to have studied in shia Hawza(a religious school were shia scholars are trained) who daringly exposed his own scholar)

Now our readers may be shocked that why would a person go to such extents in order to insult sahaba ? Well the reason is that the shian e dajjal enjoy attributing many unislamic believes to Ahlebayt even attributed some sayings which showed that it was allowed to do such things..

Imam Al-sajjad (as) said: If you see people of suspicion and innovation – other than shias or new shia – then show disownment from them and abuse them much, backbit them, make false accusations on them – that is, backbite them by attributing lies on them and make false accusations on them (‘Buhtaan’) …
[tanbiah al-khawatir v.2 p.162 – wasael al-shia v.11 p. 508 – Nahj al-intisaar p.152]

Intrestingly the present day shian e dajjal relying on such narrations give fatawas for example Grand Ayatullah Al Khoei’i

Question”1245″: Is it Possible to Lie or produce Arguments which contain Lies when Debating with a person who Is a Follower of Bida’a (Innovation/ they probably mean Sunnis) and a spreader or Dala’la (Ignorance/ us as well) If this Lie would Destroy my Opponent’s Arguments?

Imam Khoei’i Answers: If it will stop his Falsehood then it is Permissible to do So. (Imam Khoei’i, Sirat el Najat, Volume 1, Page 447) (online Source)

How did Ahlebayt deal with Shian e dajjal:

1. Shia book states:

Amru ibn hamq and hujr ibn udai and habba al-3arni and harith ala3war and abdullah ibn saba’a  came to Ameer al-momineen after egypt was seized and he was sad , then they said to him: What do you say about Abu Bakr and Umar. So Ali said to them, this is what you have time for? and Egypt was seized and my people in it were killed. [shia book”Bihar al-Anwar”; 30/7]

Comment: Here we find that the shian e dajjal were after the noble sahaba like abubakar(ra) and umar(ra), and but they were scolded by Hz ali(ra).

But things didn’t stop here, lets see what happened:

2. In the Khutbah of Ali on the Mimbar of Kufah he said: “it had reached me that some folks have preferred me over Abu Bakr and Umar may Allah be pleased with them (…) Whoever says anything of the sort is a slanderer and his punishment will be that of a slanderer. The best of people after the Prophet PBUH was Abu Bakr and then Umar, Then things happened after them in which it is for Allah to pass his judgement.

Muhaddiths are al Hakami in Ma’arij al Qubool and al Bayhaqi in Al I’itiqad.
Hadith rank: Famous, was narrated from him through countless chains and has many Shawahid.

Comment: But the shian e dajjal didn’t stop there, they went on to prefer Ali(ra) over Abubakar(ra) and Umar(ra), which compelled Ali(ra) to say(during his khilafah) that it’s a slander to him, and those who do that will be punished severely.

3. Once Suwaid ibn Ghafalah visited `Ali during his reign and told him that he had passed a few people amongst whom was ibn Saba speaking ill of Abu Bakr. They claimed that you(Ali) also held the same opinion.” `Ali retorted: “I have nothing to do with this black filthy creature. I seek refuge from Allah that I hold any opinion other than the best for Abu Bakr and `Umar.” He then exiled ibn Saba saying that he could not tolerate to live with him in one city. `Ali then ascended the pulpit, and after relating the story said: “I will lash anyone who prefers me over Abu Bakr and `Umar, the lashing of a slanderer.” [(Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani, “Lisan al-Mizan”, vol. 3 (1225)]

Comment: when Ali(ra) came to know that people are attributing their hatred for Abubakar(ra) and umar(ra) to him, he disassociated himself from the shian e dajjal, and warned them that they will be punished if they do so.

4. “Abdullah bin Saba’, was one of those who slandered Abu Bakr, Omar, Othman and the Companions and disowned them. He claimed that it was Ali [as] who enjoined this on him. Ali arrested him, and upon interrogation, admitted to the charge, and (Ali) ordered him to be executed. The People cried ‘O Chief of Believers ! Do you execute a man calling to your love, Ahlul-Bayt, to your allegiance, and disowning your enemies?’ He (Ali) then exiled him to al-Mada’in (Capital of Iran back then). Some of the knowledgeable companions of Ali [as] narrated that Abdullah bin Saba’ was a Jew who embraced Islam and sided with Ali [as]. That he was of the opinion, at the time when he was a Jew, claiming that Yousha’ bin Noon is after Moses. After his submission to Islam, after the demise of the Prophet [sallalahu alayhi wa ala alihi wa salam], he claimed the same for Ali [as]. He was the first to publicly mandate the Imamah of Ali [as], disowning his enemies, and debated his opposers. From thence, those who oppose Shi’ism say: The origin of Shi’ism is rooted in Judaism. When Abdullah bin Saba’ heard of the demise of Ali while in (his exile at) al-Mada’in, he said to the announcer of the news: ‘You are a liar, if you are to bring his head in seventy bags, and brought seventy witnesses testifying to his death, we’ll insist that he did not die nor murdered, and (he) shall not die till he rules the globe’ “. [shia book, Firaq al-Shi’a: Nubakhti, pp. 43,44]

Comment: From this report we find that the shian e dajjal went on to slander Abubakar(ra) , Umar(ra) and Uthman(ra) because of which they were executed by Ahlebayt.

5. It was narrated by ibn Kathir in “al-Bidayah wa Nihayah” (7/258) that one man said to Ali: “Near the door standing two men which speak ill about Aisha”. Upon this Ali ordered to Kaka ibn Amir take their outer clothing and strike them with 100 lashes. And that was done.[ as-Salabi “Siratul Amiralmuminin  Ali ibn Abu Talib” p 559.]

Comment: We find from this narration that shian e dajjal even used to speak ill about hz ayesha(ra), but Ahlebayt dealt with them in a correct manner, by punishing them with 100 lashes.

6. Fatima bint Rassul Allah PBUT said: The Prophet PBUH looked at Ali and said: “He is in paradise and in his Shia are folks who will cancel Islam and reject it, they will be known as the rejectors(Rafidha), he who sees them must kill them for they are polytheists(Moushrikoun).”[Imam al Shawkani said the narrators are trustworthy in Durr al Sahabah 36, He also narrated it from Ibn Abbas (ra) and said Isnad Hasan]

Comment: This was a prophecy made by prophet(Saw) , which turned out to be true. Since we know that , hz ali(ra) burned such shian e dajjal.  We will see in the next reports.

7. This is from rijal kashi(shia book) with a very strong isnad:

Hishaam bin Salim, who said that he heard it from Imam Aboo `Abd Allaah (AS) when he told that `Abd Allaah bin Saba called (to people) the divinity of Imaam `Alee (AS). Upon that ‘Alee ordered him to repent, but he refused. Then Ali let him burn in fire.”[ Al-Kashee, Rijaal, pg. 108, hadeeth # 171]

Summary: Thus we found that, how the shian e dajjal injected their satanic beliefs in some muslims who were not strong in faith. They gradually increased the level of their heretic  beliefs, from preferring Ali(ra) over sheikein, they went on to curse the sheiken , and even ayesha(ra) for which Ahlebayt punished them severely and condemned them, yet eventually they crossed the limits by calling Ali(ra) Allah. Which compelled hz ali(ra) to burn  those of his exaggerated lovers alive.

Ahlebayt disassociated themselves from Shian e dajjal, their beliefs and practices:

Many of the beliefs shown here are even found today in shias.

1.Nahjul Balagha, Sermon 191 : Ali said: “You should know that you have again reverted to the position of the [pagan] Bedouin Arabs after immigration to Islam, and have become different Shias after having been once united. You do not possess anything of Islam except its name, and know nothing of belief save its show. You would throw down Islam on its face in order to defame its honor and break its pledge for brotherhood which Allah gave you as a sacred trust on His earth and a source of peace among the people…You have broken the shackles of Islam, have transgressed its limits, and have destroyed its commands!”

2.

Kish: Sa’ed from muhammad bin Khaled al tayalisi from ibn Abu Najran from Ibn Sinan: Imam Abu abdullah Said: we ahlulBayt are truthful but there are liars who attribute false sayings to us to misguide the people , the prophet PBUH was truthful but Musaylama the liar attributed lies to him, Ameer Ali RAA was most truthful person after the prophet PBUH but he who attributed Lies to him was the cursed Abdullah Ibn Saba[ Shia scholar, Al Majlisi’s book bihar al Anwar  (2/217)]

Comment: So we find that indeed many lies were attributed to Ahlebayt.

3. Shia scholar Al nashi’i al akbar الناشيء الأكبر who died in 293 hijri also writes in Masa’el al imamah Page 22-23 :
About ibn Saba and his followers: ” A group claimed that Ali RAA is alive and will not die until he drives the Arabs away with his stick, those are the Saba’ite followers of Abdullah Ibn Saba. This Man was from sana’a (yemen) and was a Jew who lived in Mada’en.[Masa’el al imamah Page 22-23]

4. Ibn `Asakir (4:165) transmitted that al-Hasan al-Muthanna b. al-Hasan as-Sibt b. `Ali b. Abi Talib said to a Rafidite, “By Allah, if Allah gives me power over you, I will cut off your hands and feet. Then we will not accept any repentance from you.” A man said to him, “You will not accept repentance from them?” He said, “We know these men better than you do. They will confirm you when they want and they will deny you when they want. They claim that, that is correct for them by taqiyya (dissimulation). Woe to you; taqiyya is a door of indulgence for the muslim when he is forced to use it and he fears that the one in power will do something to him which he will be unable to avert from his responsibility to Allah. It is not a door to excellence. Excellence lies in carrying out Allah’s command and speaking the truth. By Allah, taqiyya does not reach the point where one of the slaves of Allah can use it to misguide the slaves of Allah.” [Ibn Asaakir, vol 4, page 165); (awaasim min al qawasim pg 114)]

Comment: Here ahlebayt disassociated themselves from those shian e dajjal who use “taqiyya” considering it to be a door to excellence (or 9/10 part of deen), in order to misguide innocent believers.

5.

It is narrated in Ibn Saad’s “Al-Tabaqat Al-Kubra”: Al Hassan said to one of the people who used to exaggerate about them: Be careful, love us for the sake of God, so if we obey God then love us and if we disobey God then hate us. So the man said: but you are the relatives of the Prophet (pbuh) and his Ahl al Bayt. So he said: Be careful, if God had protected people for being closely related to the Prophet (pbuh) but without obeying God, then he would have protected those who are far nearer to him such as his father and mother. Rather, I feel that the disobedient among us will have twice the punishment and that the obedient will have twice the reward. Be careful, be dutiful to God, and only say the truth about us for that is more proper regarding what you want and we would accept that. Then he said: our fathers have been bad to us if what you were saying is part of God’s religion and they have not informed us about it nor made us love it.

So the Rafidhi (a person who rejects the Caliphate of Abu Bakr and Umar) said to him (Al Hasan ibn Hasan), “Did not the Messenger of Allah say to Ali: ‘If i am Mawla of someone, Ali is his Mawla?’”

He (Al Hasan) replied, “By Allah, if he meant by that Amirate and rulership, he would have been more explicit to you in expressing that, just as he was explicit to you about the Salah, Zakat and Hajj to the House. He would have said to you, ‘Oh people! This is your leader after me.’ The Messenger of Allah gave the best good counsel to the people (i.e. clear in meaning). “If it is like what you say, that Ali was chosen for this after the Prophet (pbuh), then he would be the most flawed from all the people, because he didn’t do as the Prophet (pbuh) commanded””(Source: Al-Tabaqat Al-Kubra, Volume 5) Similar is present in Ibn `Asakir (volume 4, page 166) and (awaasim min qawaasim page 115)

Comment: Here Ahlebayt refuted the shian e dajjal who considered that when prophet(Saw) said Ali(ra) is Mawla it meant that he was made a ruler or Ameer. Clarifying that it was not like what they believed.

6. Ibn Hajar al-Haythamee also metioned in his Majma’ az-Zawaa’id (2/10) with a good chain of narration that ‘Aasim bin Bahdalah said:

“I said to ‘al-Hasan bin ‘Alee: “The Shee’ah claim that ‘Alee will return.”

He said: “Those liars have lied. For if we had known that, his women would not have married and we would not have divided his inheritance.”

Comment: Here Ahlebayt disassociated them from the shian e dajjal who believed that Ahlebayt will return(raj’a). Which even the present day shias believe in.

7. Zararah narrates that he asked Imam Jaafar that a person from the progeny of Abdullah ibn Saba believes in tafweedh. Imam Jaafar asked “What is tafweedh? I said “It is that Allah created Muhammad and Ali only. And than he entrusted them all the duties (امور). Now these two create, they feed, they give life, and they take life. On this , the Imam said: Enemy of Allah is lying , when you meet him then recite before him this verse of surah Al rad “Or have they set up with Allah associates who have created creation like His, so that what is created became confused to them? Say: Allah is the Creator of all things, and He is the One, the Supreme.” quran (13:16) [Aitqadat, Page 101, by Shaikh Sadooq]

Comment: Here we find that Ahlebayt disassociated them from the shian e dajjal who believed in Tafweedh, which is somewhat similar to that of believe in wilayat takweeniyah, as present day shia believes.

8.

Ibn Sa’ad said, Shababa bin Siwar told us, Fudhail bin Marzooq told us, I asked Omar bin Ali bin Al-Hussain bin Ali bin Abi Talib and Al-Hussain bin Ali bin Al-Hussain bin Ali bin Abi Talib: “Is there among you Ahlul Bayt someone that we must follow and those that dont know him died a death of Jahiliyah?

They said, “No, there is nothing like this among us.”

Whoever said this about us is a liar”

So, I (Fudhail) said, “May Allah have mercy on you! This position was to be for Ali since the Prophet (pbuh) said it is to be for him, then to Al-Hasan since Ali left it for him, then to Al-Hussain for Al-Hasan left it for him, then to Ali bin Al-Hussain for Al-Hussain left it for him, then to Mohammed bin Ali for Ali left it for him.”

He replied (Omar bin Ali), “Wallah my father died and he said no such thing!”

“May Allah destroy them! It is that Khunais! That Khunais!”

I (Fudhail) asked, “Al-Mu’alla bin Khunais?”

He said, “Yes, Al-Mu’alla bin Khunais! I spent a long time thinking upon my bed about a group of people that Allah misguided due to Al-Mu’alla bin Khunais” [ tabaqaat ibn saad 5/249, dar al-kutub al-ilmiyah]

Comment: Here Ahlebayt refuted the belief of divinely appointed Imams, which the present shias believe in.

9.

Ibn Jareer said: Hanad told us, Abdah told us he narrated from Abdul Malik from Abu Ja’afar Muhammad bin Ali (RA): I asked him about this verse …(he mentions 5:55)… We said: Who are the believers? He replied: The Believers. We said: It had reached us that this was revealed regarding Ali ibn Abi Talib, He said: Ali is amongst those believers.

Abu Na’eem in “al Hilyah” from abdul Malik bin Abu Suleiman that he said: I asked Abu Ja’afar Muhammad Ibn Ali (RA) about the verse of Allah …(he mentions 5:55)… He told me: those who accompanied Muhammad peace be upon him. I said: They say Ali? He replied: Ali is amongst them.

10. Finally Ahlebayt even dissociated from those shian e dajjal who considered some members of Ahlebayt o be infallible Imams.

In his “Siyar” at page 259 Dhahabi narrated:

From Abdul Jabar ibn Al-Abbas al-Hamadani: ”Jafar as-Sadiq came to them when they were leaving Madinah and told them: You are inshallah from amongst the best of people from your country (or from your Egypt)  So report to them from me: He who claims that I’m an infallible imam who must be obeyed, I disassociate myself from him and he who claims that I disassociate myself from Abu Bakr and Umar, I disassociate myself from him.”

Comment: Ahlebayt denied of being infallible Imams and dissociated themselves from such people, and even from those who dissociate themselves from Abubakr and Umar.

Why are we labeling such people as shian e dajjal?

Someone might ask us that why are we labeling such people as shian e dajjal(shia of dajjal), the answer to it is that , dajjal is a liar and even some people consider lying to be  part of their Madhab. They possess the characteristics of Dajjal. Prophet said, ‘There will be “dajjals” and liars among my Ummah. They will tell you something new, which neither you nor your forefathers have heard. Be on your guard against them, and do not let them lead you astray.'(Musnad Ahmad.) And prophet(Saw) even said: The time of the Dajjal will be years of confusion. People will believe a liar, and disbelieve one who tells the truth. People will distrust one who is trustworthy, and trust one who is treacherous; and the Ruwaybidah will have a say.’ Someone asked, ‘Who are the Ruwaybidah?’ He said, ‘Those who rebel against Allah and will have a say in general affairs.'” (Musnad Ahmad.)

Now lets see what are teachings of shian e dajjal, this narration they falsely attributed to pious Imam:

Imam Al-sajjad (as) said: If you see people of suspicion and innovation – other than shias or new shia – then show disownment from them and abuse them much, backbit them, make false accusations on them – that is, backbite them by attributing lies on them and make false accusations on them (‘Buhtaan’) …
[tanbiah al-khawatir v.2 p.162 – wasael al-shia v.11 p. 508 – Nahj al-intisaar p.152]

Intrestingly the present day shias relying on such narrations give fatawas(verdicts) for example Grand Ayatullah Al Khoei’i

A similar fatwa was issue by Grand ayatullah sistani:

(online source)

So we think it is clear now that why we call such people shian e dajjal. May Allah protect muslims from the fitna and deception of shian e dajjal.

Point to keep in mind:

We have seen few examples of shian e dajjal, whose motive was create differences between the relationship of Ahlebayt and Sahaba. But these are not the only examples, there are hundreds of such that is why when we find a narration where Sahaba or Ahlebayt are being accused and the chain of narration has a shia in it , then without a shadow of doubt one should consider it to be handiwork of the shia, even if that shia was considered trustworthy because the narrations reported by an innovator which shows criticism of Sahaba(ra) or Ahlebayt are taken in out. They are to be rejected according to principles of Hadeeth science. So respected readers you will definitely come across such narrations, as the role of shian e dajjal is to propagate such narrations which were the fabrications of their ancestors , so if you come across those just discard them, because they go against Quran as well as other authentic narrations.
