Part 4: View of Ahlebayt(ra) regarding Sahaba(ra)

Note: Part 1 is a must read before reading this part. Please read Part 1. And please read the all comments mentioned in this article.

View of Ahlebayt(ra) regarding Sahaba(ra)

In this article we will be presenting before you the real view of Ahlebayt regarding Sahaba(ra). In this article you will find the views and statements of Prophet(saw) who is the head of Ahlebayt, and some of the members of Ahlebayt, whom shias consider their infallible Imams.

The best of people were the Sahaba(ra)

Narrated Abdullah: The Prophet (may peace be upon him) said,”The best people are those living in my generation, and then those who will follow them, and then those who will follow the latter. Then there will come some people who will bear witness before taking oaths, and take oaths before bearing witness.” (Sahih Bukhari Volume 5, Book 57, Number 3)

Narrated `Imran bin Husain: “Allah’s Apostle said, ‘The best of my followers are those living in my generation and then those who will follow the latter” Imran added, “I do not remember whether he mentioned two or three generations after his generation, then the Prophet added, ‘There will come after you, people who will bear witness without being asked to do so, and will be treacherous and untrustworthy, and they will vow and never fulfill their vows, and fatness will appear among them.” (Sahi bukhari 5.2)

Comment : This is why it is important for muslims to take their Islamic teachings as reported by the best of people(sahaba). And this is done by Ahle sunnah wal Jama’ah

Similar report is even mention in shia ahadees:

From Musa bin Jafar from his fathers who said: The Messenger of Allah (saw) said: There will be 4 generations, the best of generations is the one in which I am living, then the second, then the third [Biharul Anwar Volume:22 Page:309]

We read in the famous Shia book ‘Muruj al zahab’ by Masudi that Abdullah ibn Abbas [r.a] said:

إن الله جل ثناؤه وتقدست أسماؤه خص نبيه محمداً صلى الله عليه وسلم بصحابة آثروه على الأنفس والأموال، وبذلوا النفوس دونه في كل حال، ووصفهم الله في كتابه فقال: رحماء بينهم

Indeed Allah is the One with pure names, who bestowed His Prophet Muhammad [s] with such Sahaba who sacrificed their lives and wealth on him , and left everyone accept him. The God Almighty mentioned their qualities in the Holy Quran in the words ‘compassionate amongst themselves’ [Muruj al zahab, Vol. 3, p. 52]

Also we read in Shia book, Al-Khisal:

7-6 حدثنا محمد بن جعفر البندار قال: حدثنا أبوالعباس الحمادي قال: حدثنا أبوجعفر الحضرمي قال: حدثنا هدبة بن خالد قال: حدثنا همام بن يحيى قال: حدثنا قتادة، عن أيمن، عن أبي امامة قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله: طوبى لمن رآني وآمن بي، طوبى ثم طوبى يقولها سبعالمن لم يرني وآمن بي.

Muhammad ibn Ja’far al-Bindar narrated that Abul-Abbas al-Himady quoted on the authority of Abu Ja’far al-Hazrami, on the authority of Hodbat ibn Khalid, on the authority of Homam ibn Yahya, on the authority of Qitadeh, on the authority of Aymen, on the authority of Abi Imamat that God’s Prophet (saw) said, “”Blessed be those who saw me and believed in me, and blessed be those who believed in me without having seen me”. He repeated it seven times.{Al khisal, page 554}.

Majlisi graded it mutabar in Hayat ul Quloob:

ابن بابويه به سند معتبر از ابى امامه روايت كرده است كه حضرت رسول (صلى الله عليه و آله و سلم) فرمود كه: خوشا حال كسى كه مرا ببيند وايمان آورد به من؛ پس هفت مرتبه گفت: خوشا حال كسى كه مرا ببيند و ايمان آورد به من
[Hayaat ul Quloob, Vol. 2 , p. 913]

Sahaba were a source of security for the Ummah after the prophet(saw)

Sahi Muslim (chapter Chapter 51: THE PRESENCE OF ALLAH’S APOSTLE (MAY PEACE BE UPON HIM) IS A SOURCE OF SECURITY FOR THE COMPANIONS AND THE PRESENCE OF THE COMPANIONS IS A SOURCE OF SECURITY FOR THE UMMA

Sahih Muslim Bk 31, Number 6147 Prophet(Saw) said: The stars are a source of security for the sky and when the stars disappear there comes to the sky, i. e. (it meets the same fate) as it has been promised(it would plunge into darkness). And I am a source of safety and security to my Companions and when I would go away there would fall to the lot (of my Companions) as they have been promised with and my Companions are a source of security for the Umma and as they would go there would fall to the lot of my Umma as (its people) have been promised.

Similarly,  we read in Shia hadeeth, Imam Musa ibn Jafar narrated from his forefathers, that prophet(saw) said:

أنا آمن لأصحابي- فإذا قبضت دنا من أصحابي ما يوعدون- و أصحابي أمنة لأمتي- فإذا قبض أصحابي دنا من أمتي ما يوعدون- و لا يزال هذا الدين ظاهرا على الأديان كلها- ما دام فيكم من قد رآني من رآني

I am protection (amanah) for my companions, and when I will go,  (predestination) would get closer to my companions. AND MY COMPANIONS ARE PROTECTION FOR MY NATION, AND IF THEY WILL GO, (PREDESTINATION) WOULD GET CLOSER TO MY NATION. THIS RELIGION WOULD BE DOMINANT OVER ALL OTHER RELIGIONS, UNTIL BETWEEN YOU WOULD BE PEOPLE WHICH SEEN THOSE WHO SEEN ME(i.e Sahaba). [Nawader Rawandi p 23; Biharul Anwar Majlisi (22/309-310)].

Shia scholar grand Ayatullah abu al-Qassim al-Khu’i, blew the minds of the Rafidah with his next statement:

al-Khu’i says in his book “al-Bayan fi Tafsir al-Qur’an” pg.216:

[The special care of the Prophet (s) with regards to the Qur’an and its preservation, and recitation, and the special care that the Sahaba gave it in the time of the Prophet (s) and after his death, this gives us certainty that it is preserved with them, combined or separated, memorized in the breasts or written down. They took care of preserving the poetry of Jahiliyyah, so how can they not take care of the glorious book? The book that they placed their lives in danger to preach and promote its rulings, and in its cause they abandoned their lands and spent their wealth, and left their women and children, and stood in the positions that whitened the pages of history. So can a sane man possibly believe that they never took care of the Qur’an!? (…)]

How should be the attitude of people towards nearest Sahaba(companions) of prophet(saw).

Sahi bukhari 5.145: Narrated Anas bin Malik: The Prophet said, “The Ansar are my near companions to whom I confided my private secrets, People will go on increasing but the Ansar will go on decreasing; so accept the good of the good−doers amongst them and excuse the wrong−doers amongst them.

Comment: We believe as well as Prophet(saw) knew that his Sahaba were not infallible, they were normal human beings who could have done wrong things. But Prophet(Saw) said to excuse them. But unfortunately the fitna mongers(shian e dajjal) always look for mistakes of sahaba inorder to criticize them. May Allah save us from such satanic traps.

All the Sahaba were true believers:

1. Shia scholar Sheikh Saduq in his book “Khisal” narrated:

THERE WERE TWELVE THOUSAND COMPANIONS OF THE PROPHET
28-5 Ahmad ibn Zyad ibn Ja’far al-Hamedany – may God be pleased with him – narrated that Ali ibn Ibrahim ibn Hashim quoted his father, on the authority of Muhammad ibn Abi Umayr, on the authority of Hisham ibn Salim that Aba Abdullah as-Sadiq (alaihi salam) said, “There were twelve-thousand companions for God’s Prophet (sallalahu alaihi wa ali). Eight-thousand of them were from Medina, two-thousand of them were from Mecca and another two-thousand of them were the free atheist who had become Muslims. There were no Qadarites, Marajites, Kharajites, Mo’tazelites, nor any who act according to their own opinions. They cried day and night and said, ‘O God! Please take away our souls before we eat barley bread”.

Comment: We find that even the shia Imam testifies that , none of the Sahaba were innovators, nor they belonged to any sect with deviated beliefs. The companions of the Prophet(saw) are the best of creation. Inshallah the Shias that read this will agree with the content of it. It should be noted that yeasted bread is higher than the form of dry bread that the Sahaba were accustomed to, thus this shows their piety in their daily life. Mashallah. Great hadith. Notice, the hadith only refers to the companions in Medinah, Makkah, and al-tulaqa’a. If the ignorant Shia argue by assuming that this means that the Prophet(saw) didn’t have other companions from other areas, then that would be absurd, because he(saw) is referring to the companions from these categories. Furthermore, this fits in with the Sunni narrative pretty well, since Sunnis also believe that the tulaqa’a were two thousand. ]

2.

Shia scholar Majlisi has narrated from Tusi who has narrated a Muwathaq tradition,  from Ali  that he said “I order you regarding the companions of the Prophet (s) , don’t criticize them, because they are the companions of your Prophet (s). They are his companions,  they didn’t start any bidah in the religion, nor given honor to any innovator. Yes! The Prophet (s) has ordered me regarding them.
Hayat ul Qulub , Vol. 2, p. 621

Comment: This narration proves that there were people with Ali(ra) who would criticize companions of Prophet(saw) but Ali(ra) condemned them, and testified that Sahaba(ra) weren’t innovators. But still shian e dajjal falsely accuse companions of Prophet(saw) for being innovators.

3. In one of the most sacred shia book, Imam Ali said:

I have seen the companions of the Prophet but I do not find anyone resembling them. They began the day with dust on the hair and face (in hardship of life) and passed the night in prostration and standing in prayers. Sometimes they put down their foreheads and sometimes their cheeks. With the recollection of their resurrection it seemed as though they stood on live coal. It seemed that in between their eyes there were signs like knees of goats, resulting from long prostrations. When Allah was mentioned their eyes flowed freely till their shirt collars were drenched. They trembled for fear of punishment and hope of reward as the tree trembles on the day of stormy wind. [Nahjul Balagha, sermon 96]

Sahaba were truthful while narrating the traditions of Prophet(saw)[Concept of Adaalah]

This fact is not only affirmed by Ahlesunnah but even by Imams of Ahlebayt(from shia book):

Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from ibn Abi Najran from ‘Asim ibn Humayd from Mansur ibn Hazim who has said:”I said to (Imam) abu ‘Abdallah (alaihi salam), ‘It is confuses me that when I ask you a question and you give an answer and then other person comes and you give a different answer for the same question.’” The Imam replied, “We answer people in a larger and reduced forms.” I then asked, “Did the Sahabah, companions of the holy Prophet speak the truth or lies when narrating his Hadith?” The Imam replied, “They spoke the truth.” I then said, “Why then they have differences?” Have you not considered the fact that a man would come to the holy Prophet (sallalahu alaihi wa ali) and ask a question and would give him an answer and then he would answer that would abrogate the previous answer. Thus, Ahadith abrogated other Ahadith.” [Kulayni narrated in his “al-Kafi” (1/65), and Majlisi said it’s hasan (good)]

Comment: Our belief is that the Sahabah would not make up something and attribute it to the Prophet, and this is the definition of adalah and this is what affirmed by shia Imam also. scholars, are trying to explain to the brainless shiatu dajjal over a thousand year. If we say ‘Idala Al-Sahaba, the shiatu dajjal start mocking, and pointing how many mistakes the Sahaba did. As if we don’t know that Sahaba also made mistakes, after all WE believe that none of the sahaba was Ma’soom(infallible). ‘Idala Al-Sahaba does not mean, that the Sahaba never made mistakes, or never sinned, ‘Idala Al-Sahaba means: The Sahaba (those who met the Prophet AND died with Imaan) DO NOT LIE ABOUT THE MESSENGER OF ALLAH.

People who enjoyed the Company of Sahaba will be victorious:

Sahi bukhari 4.792: Narrated Abu Sa`id Al−Khudri: The Prophet said, “A time will come when the people will wage holy war, and it will be asked, Is there any amongst you who has enjoyed the company of Allah’s Apostle?’ They will say: ‘Yes.’ And then victory will be bestowed upon them. They will wage holy war again, and it will be asked: ‘Is there any among you who has enjoyed the company of the companions of Allah’s Apostle ?’ They will say: ‘Yes.’ And then victory will be bestowed on them.

Warning to fitna mongers(shian e dajjal) and, the ones possess the signs of shian e dajjal(i.e who abuse, insult and curse companions of Prophet(Saw)):

1. The Prophet (صلّى الله عليه وآله وسلّم) said: “Allah, Allah! Fear Him with regard to my Sahabah! Do not make them targets after me! Whoever loves them loves them with his love for me; and whoever hates them hates them with his hatred for me. Whoever bears enmity for them, bears enmity for me; and whoever bears enmity for me, bears enmity for Allah. Whoever bears enmity for Allah is about to perish!” (Narrated from Abdallah ibn Mughaffal by Al-Tirmidhi, by Ahmad with three good chains in his Musnad, al-Bukhari in his Tarikh, al-Bayhaqi in Shu`ab al-Iman, and others. Al-Suyuti declared it hasan in his Jami` al-Saghir #1442).

2. Sahi bukhari 5.22: Narrated Abu Sa`id: The Prophet said, “Do not abuse my companions for if any one of you spent gold equal to Uhud (in Allah’s Cause) it would not be equal to a Mud or even a half Mud spent by one of them.”

3.

Prophet(Saw) said: “Don’t abuse my companions, may curse of Allah be upon the one who abuses my companions”. al-Heythami in “Majmau zawaid” (#16429) (Al-Heythami said) “Narrated Tabarani in al-Awsat, narrators are saheeh, except Ali ibn Sakhl, and he’s thiqat“.

Comment: These narrations shows that there were some fitna mongers in that time who used to abuse companions of Prophet(Saw), just like the present day fitna mongers(shian e dajjal) are doing. But you can see what was the reaction of Prophet(Saw) against them.

4.

Prophet(saw)  said: If you see those who criticize my companions, say to them “May the curse of Allah be on the evil of you” (sunan tirmidi #3866) Similar is present in Jamia sagheer(637)

5.

Prophet(Saw) said: “Whoever abuses my Companions, upon them is the curse of Allah, the angels and all the people, may Allah don’t accept from sarfa and adala”. Tabarani narrated in “Dua” (darul kutub al-ilmiyah, 1413)

6.

Ali(as) said:“I order to you regarding the Companions (ra) of Muhammad (SAW), don’t criticize them, They were the people after the Prophet (SAW), who did not bring any innovation in the deen and never supported any innovation and the Prophet (SAW) ordered to behave well towards them” Bihar al-Anwar 22/305

Shaikh ul Islaam Ibn Hajr al-‘Asqalaani Rahimahullah in the preface of al Isaabah quotes Imam Abu Zura’h ar-Razi Rahimahullah (d.264 H) he said:

اذا رأيت الرجل ينقص أحد من أصحاب رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فاعلم أنه زنديق, وذلك أن الرسول حق, والقرآن حق, وما جاء به حق, وانما أدّي إلينا ذلك كله الصحابة, وهؤلاء يريدون أن يجرحوا شهودنا, ليبطلوا الكتاب والسنة, والجرح بهم أولى, وهم زنادقة
(الإصابة: ص 10, ج 1)

When you see a man who criticizes any one of the companions of Rasoolullah (Sallalaahu Alyhi wa Sallam) then know that he is a zindeeq (Disbeliever who claims to be Muslim). The reason is that the Rasoolullah (Sallalaahu Alyhi wa Sallam) is Truthful and the Quraan is Truthful and what Rasoolullah (Sallalaahu Alyhi wa Sallam) was sent with is the Truth, and these things have been brought to us by the Sahaabah (Radhi Allaahu Ta’ala ‘anhum). The Sahaabah (Radhi Allaahu Ta’ala ‘anhum) are our witnesses to this therefore whosoever discredits or ridicules any one of them intends to discredit the Quraan and the Sunnah. Therefore these people are themselves worthy of criticism and they are Zanaadeeq.

7. We read that Shia scholar shaykh Muhammad as-Sabzawari in his book “Jamiul Akhbar aw Maarijal Yageen wa Usool ad-Deen” (p 456), narrated hadith:

He(peace be upon him) said: Kill the one who abuses me, and the one who abused my companion disbelieved”.

And in other narration: “Flog the one who abused my companion.  (Jamiul Akhbar, p. 456)

 8. Similarly, we read in Shia book:

عن الرضا ، عن آبائه عليهم السلام قال : قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله : من سب نبيا قتل ، ومن سب أصحابي جلد
Imam Reza has narrated through his forefathers that the Prophet (saw) said : One who kills a prophet should be killed, and one who talks ill about his companions should be flogged. [Bihar al anwar, Vol. 76, p. 222]

9. We read in Shia tafseer:

في كتاب جعفربن محمد الدوريستى بإسناده إلى إبن مسعود عن النبي (صلى الله عليه وآله) أنه قال: إذا ذكر القدر فأمسكوا، وإذا ذكر اصحابى فأمسكوا إذا ذكر النجوم فامسكوا

It was narrated from Ibn Mas’ood that the Prophet (saw) said: “if the divine decree is mentioned , then keep quiet; If my companions are mentioned , then keep quiet; and if the stars are mentioned, then keep quiet. [Tafsir Nur al thaqalayn Vol. 4, p. 407]

The result of Hating the Sahaba.

Ibn Abu Dunya narrated in his book “al-Uqubat” (p 218, #312):

Ahmad ibn Abdul-Ala said: Abu Rahv which was shia, said to me: We were sitting near Forbidden Mosque in Mecca, when person, whose face was white from one side and black from other, stood up and said:  O people! Take an example from me, I use to abuse Abu Bakr and Umar. Once in the night, when I was (sitting) the man came to me and hit me on my face. He said: “O enemy of Allah, O sinner! Do you abusing Abu Bakr and Umar?” . When I stood up in the morning I seen myself in this condition.

And again in ”al-Uqubat” (p 218, #313):

Umar ibn al-Hakim narrated from his uncle: We were on our way to Mecca, and with us was the one who use to abuse Abu Bakr and Umar. We wanted to stop him but he didn’t listen. When he separated from us to fulfil his natural need, bees attacked him. He asked us for help, and we tried. But when bees attacked us we have to run. Bees didn’t left him util tear him apart.

And again in ”al-Uqubat” (p 60, #82):

Hakim ibn Jabir narrated from his slave girl: I seen Hasan ibn Ali, he made ablution and was using towel. I felt hate towards him. When night came I slept, and when morning came I felt fire in my liver.

(Narrator) Sufyan said: Her liver became wrong because she felt hate towards son of prophet(saw).

Glad tiding for those Who love , and follow companions of Prophet(saw):

1. The Prophet Muhammed (May the Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him) also said: “Indeed the people of the Book before you split into seventy-two sects. And this nation will split into seventy-three sects, seventy-two are in the Fire and one in Paradise”. And in another narration, “All are in the Fire except one.” It was asked: Who is that one? He replied, “That which I and my Companions are upon” Related by at-Tirmidhi (5/62) and al-Haakim (1/128). It has been authenticated by al-Haafidh al-Iraaqee in Takhreejul-Ihyaa (3/199) and Sheikh Albani authenticated it in Saheeh at-Tirmizi 2641. He said it’s hasan(good).

Comments: Those who are upon the way of prophet(Saw) and Sahaba will be the saved sect from hell fire. Notice Prophet(Saw) didn’t say, That which I and my Ahlebayt are upon. He(saw) said, That which I and my companions are upon.

Similarly, we read in Shia book of Shiekh Sadooq:

Prophet (saw) said “The Ummah will be divided into 73 sects , all of them will go to hell except one”. He was asked “Which sect is that one”. Prophet (peace be upon him) said “That is the one on which I and my companions (ashaab) are”(Shia book, Ma’ani Al Akhbar, Page 370)

2. Sahawi in “Fatkh al-mugees sharhul alfiyatul hadith” (2/348-349, darul kutub al-ilmiyah, Lebanon, 1403) said:

وقد قال زيد العمى أدركت أربعين شيخا كلهم يحدثونا عن الصحابة أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه و سلم قال من أحب جميع أصحابي وتولاهم واستغفر لهم جعله يوم القيامة معهم في الجنة وقال الضحاك لقد أمرهم بالاستغفار لهم وهو يعلم أنهم سيحدثون ما أحدثوا

“And Zayd al-Amee said: I meat 40 sheikhs, all of them narrated from companions, that messenger of Allah (sallalahu alaihi wa ala alihi wa sallam) said: Whoever would love all my companions, and befriend with them, and ask forgiveness for them, (they) would be in the doomsday along with them in heaven”. Dahhak said: “They were ordered to pray for forgiveness for them, and He (-Allah-) knew they would do what they done”.

3 .Ibne Anjaar in his history narrates from Imam Hasan Ibne Ali (r.a.) that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.s.) stated, “For everything there is a foundation and the foundation of Islam is the love of the companions of the Messenger of Allah and the love of his Ahle Bayt [Kanzul Ummal, Vol. 7, pg. 218]

4. Ali (ra) has also been recorded by Daylami to have quoted from the Messenger of Islam (s.a.w.s.) the following tradition: “The most sure-footed upon the bridge of Seraat will be those who were more deeply in love of my Ahle Bayt and my companions.” (As-Sawaaiqul Muhriqa, pg. 185)

5. The Prophet (صلّى الله عليه وآله وسلّم) said: “Allah, Allah! Fear Him with regard to my Sahabah! Do not make them targets after me! Whoever loves them loves them with his love for me; (Narrated from Abdallah ibn Mughaffal by Al-Tirmidhi, by Ahmad with three good chains in his Musnad, al-Bukhari in his Tarikh, al-Bayhaqi in Shu`ab al-Iman, and others. Al-Suyuti declared it hasan in his Jami` al-Saghir #1442).

6. Allah says in the Quran:

And (as for) the foremost, the first of the Muhajirs and the Ansars, and those who followed them in goodness, Allah is well pleased with them and they are well pleased with Him, and He has prepared for them gardens beneath which rivers flow, to abide in them for ever; that is the mighty achievement.(Quran 9:100).
Esteemed Shia scholar Muhammad Husayn Tabatabaei in his Tafsir Al-Mizan for 9:100 states:
because God has not restricted the ‘those who follow them’ part therefore we conclude from the verse that this part ‘those who follow them’ relates to Muslims of all times who follow the Sabeqoon (Sahaba) therefore it is necessary to conclude that from the they of Be’sah till the end fo the world: Muslims who are not hypocrite will be divided into three groups those pioneers of immigrants those pioneers of helpers and those who follow them the first two groups are not followers but they are Imams and are to be followed and the third group cannot see as those who are followed unless in a relative sense (i.e. we follow the third group who in turn follow the first two groups)” [Screen shot] [Online source]

Comment: Now the Shia will wrestle common sense and knock out logic and claim that Allah was pleased with them then, when they did a good act, but in reality they hid their evil intentions until the Prophet(saw) passed away, so Allah cannot be pleased with them then. The Quran however says that if these people weren’t truly pure sincere believers Allah wouldn’t be pleased with them, they had to be pious godly people:{They will swear to you with a view to making you pleased with them: but [even] should you be pleased with them, verily, God shall never be pleased with iniquitous(Fasiqeen) folk.} [9:96]

So we see that, Allah says that He can NEVER be pleased with people who are ungodly and iniquitous. And Allah(swt) says that He was well pleased with fore-most Muhajireen and Ansar, which includes Abubakr(ra), Umar(ra) and Uthman(ra). The verse(9:100) proves that there wasn’t any munafiq among the FOREMOST and FIRST of Muhajirs and Ansars. They all were pure believers., and those who followed them, Allah is pleased with them. And it is well known fact that Munafiqeen came in the later stage they didn’t become Muslim in the initial stage, since Islam was weak then. Therefore we won’t find any munafiq among the foremost, first of Muhajirs and Ansars.

7. Infallible Shia Imam asks for best reward for those who followed Sahaba:

O God , and as for the Companions of Muhammad specifically , those who did well in companionship , who stood the good test in helping him , responded to him when he made them hear his messages’ argument , separated from mates and children in manifesting his word , fought against fathers and sons in strengthening his prophecy , and through him gained victory ; those who were wrapped in affection for him , ‘hoping for a commerce that comes not to naught’ in love for him ; those who were left by their clans when they clung to his handhold and denied by their kinsfolk when they rested in the shadow of his kinship ; forget not , O God , what they abandoned for Thee and in Thee , and make them pleased with Thy good pleasure for the sake of the creatures they drove to Thee while they were with Thy Messenger , summoners to Thee for Thee . Show gratitude to them for leaving the abodes of their people for Thy sake and going out from a plentiful livelihood to a narrow one , and ( show gratitude to ) those of them who became objects of wrongdoing and whom Thou multiplied in exalting Thy religion . O God , and give to those who have done well in following the Companions , who say , ‘Our Lord , forgive us and our brothers who went before us in faith , Thy best reward .[Sahifeh Sajadia, Blessing upon the Attesters to the Messengers Supplication – 4]

Clearing Some Misconceptions:

Misconception 1:

It is mentioned the books of hadeeth of Ahlesunnah i.e Sahi bukhari Volume 8, Book 76, Number 578: Narrated ‘Abdullah: The Prophet said, “I am your predecessor at the Lake-Fount.” ‘Abdullah added: The Prophet said, “I am your predecessor at the Lake-Fount, and some of you will be brought in front of me till I will see them and then they will be taken away from me and I will say, ‘O Lord, my companions!’ It will be said, ‘You do not know what they did after you had left.’

In another narration :Narrated Anas: The Prophet said, “Some of my companions will come to me at my Lake Fount, and after I recognise them, they will then be taken away from me, whereupon I will say, ‘My companions!’ Then it will be said, ‘You do not know what they innovated (new things) in the religion after you.”  Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 8584

So, now shian e dajjal either misunderstand or deliberately misinterpret these narrations and they think that sahaba of Prophet(Saw) were hypocrites(mazallah) or they were innovators.

Answer:

First of all, the narration no where indicates that the majority of the companions of the Prophet would apostatize. On the contrary, the hadith says:  “Some of my companions will come to me”

Secondly,  It is talking about the ones who apostated after the Prophet(saw), those who were amongst the companions during the life of the Prophet(saw). Not the ones who stayed upon Islam after his death, whom Ahlsunnah defines as sahabah. The ones who apostated after the Prophet(saw), Ahlesunnah doesn’t include those under the definition/category of sahabah. Because when we mention sahaba(ra) , we mean the ones who are defined as here. Ibn Hajr said: The most correct of what I have come across is that a Sahaabee is one who met the Prophet (saw) whilst believing in him, and died as a Muslim. So that includes the one who remained with him for a long time or a short time, and those who narrated from him and those who did not and those who saw him but did not sit with him and those who could not see him due to blindness. (Al-Isaabah of lbn Hajr (1/4-5).

Thirdly, we already are aware of some of the companions who apostatized after the Prophet’s death (e.g.. those who refused to pay the Zakah during Abu Bakr’s caliphate and died fighting and Al Sindi in his commentary on Al Nasa’ee suggested that it was those who joined the ranks of Al Musaylama al Kidhaab. Also Imam Al Khattabi in his book Al Farq Baynal Firaq said that Ahlus Sunnah are agreed on certain tribes that apostatized after the Prophet’s death.

Fourthly, the fitna mongers who try to use these ahadees by giving them a wrong meaning, then to them we want to say that our hadith literature states that Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman and Ayesha are going to heaven. So when we bring these hadith together we know that they are not from the companions that apostatized. So, o shian e dajjaldon’t cherry pick the narrations that suite you .

Fifthly, we read in Musnad `Umar by abu Yusuf Ya`qoub al-Hafiz (d. 262h):
[We were told by al-Asawad bin `Amir, he said: Shareek told us, from `Asim, from abi Wa’il, from Masrouq, from Umm Salamah, she said: The messenger(saw) said: “From my companions are people I will not meet nor shall they meet me after death.” So `Umar came to her and said: “By Allah I ask of you, am I one of them?” She said: “No, and I shall not clear anyone after you.”] [The Hadith can be graded as “Hasan(good)”]

It is also backed by another chain from Musnad Ahmad which qualifies as Sahih Muttasil:
[Abu Mu`awiyah told us, al-A`mash told us, from Shaqeeq, from Umm Salamah, that she said: `Abdul-Rahman bin `Awf entered on her saying: “O mother, I fear that my money will cause me to perish, I have the biggest wealth in Quraysh.” She said: “O son, spend from it, for I have heard the messenger (saw) say: Some of my companions shall not meet me nor will I meet them after I depart.” So he went out and met `Umar, and told him what he heard. `Umar came and entered on her and said: “By Allah am I one of them?” She said: “No, and I won’t tell anyone else after you.”]
Comment: There are many benefits to this narration, but in regards to the narration in question, we find that Umar(ra) wasn’t one of those Prophet(saw) mentioned. Which invalidates all the false charges against Umar(ra) by the Saba’ee rafidah, like accusing Umar(ra) of killing Fatima(ra) or taking snatching away the Caliphate from Ali(ra), etc.

Misconception 2:

We find several narrations of quranic verses where Sahaba were condemned, So why should we love and respect them?

Answer:

Let us clear before our readers some tactics which shian e dajjal use to deceive people:

1. They use the verses from Quran which were revealed for hypocrites and they claim that see hypocrites were among Sahaba as Quran says, but what the shian e dajjal either deliberately or ignorantly don’t realize is that Ahlesunnah only considers those people among Sahaba who shared the company of Prophet(saw) while believing in him and died as believers. So using those verses of Quran is nothing but deception of Shias.

2.They forget or want people to forget that Sahaba(ra) were not infallibles(like they think there Imams are), Sahaba  did commit sins or errors. The shian e dajjal bring up some examples of Sahaba where there committed mistakes, as though Ahlesunnah believes that they were infallible. But the fact is that, Ahlesunnah believes that none of the sahaba was infallible, they did commit mistakes.

When the shian e dajjal quote the verses of Quran proving that sahaba did commit errors they often hide the later part of the context of those verses because often, we find that when sahaba committed some mistakes, Allah forgave them. This case is similar to the case of Hz adam(as) were he disobeyed Allah, yet Allah forgave him and honored him. Similarly the fact is that even after you find that though sahaba used to commit mistakes, yet Allah honored them and praised them, and Prophet(saw) called them the best people, as reported in the books of shias and sunnis. Lastly, even ahlebayt committed errors see this article(link) (see proof 5) where we have proved from shia and sunni books the mistake of Ali(ra). Though these mistakes doesn’t degrades the great status of Ali(ra) or Ahlebayt, similar is the case for the mistakes of other Sahaba.

3. They often quote the narrations where people accused sahaba(ra) either due misunderstanding, which can be clarified or they quote the accusation of the  ones who are not credible reliable when they go against sahaba.(like tabain etc).

4. Verses where Allah critizies sahaba were stages of learning (so naturally they will make mistakes and needs correction), those sahaba were new converts from extremely polytheist and barbaric environment and it was natural for them to make mistakes in these learning days, months and years. But in all these verses Allah called them or directed his speech using the word ‘O You Who BELIEVE’ where as Saba’ee rafidi liars say all of them were murtad, munafiq save 3 0r 7.

Furthermore, the disbelievers and hypocrites can use similar logic against even the Prophet(saw), if verses of Quran are misinterpreted like that. Notice the following (5:87):
O ye who believe! Forbid not the good things which Allah hath made lawful for you, and transgress not. Lo! Allah loveth not transgressors.

Then (66:1):
O Prophet! Why bannest thou that which Allah hath made lawful for thee, seeking to please thy wives? And Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

Of course, for the herectics to be able to pull of such an interpretation, one needs to take everything out of context, like the most obvious latter part of the verse about Allah being merciful. Then one would need to forget about the rest of the praise towards the Prophet (pbuh) in the Qur’an as a whole. With such a mentality, the herecticss can condemn the Prophet(saw) for his actions that do not appeal to them.

Similarly, one would need to take all the verses in which Allah was critical of the Sahaba and take them out of context, misinterpret them, and forget about all the praise directed at them in general and on an individual level, for one to hold such a view against the Sahaba.

There is much more we could have said, but when we find that these shian e dajjal, didn’t spare Prophets of Allah, then how could they have spared Sahaba? So its indeed worthless to answer heretics like shias whose hearts are filled with hatred for true muslims. (shias accuse Prophets of Allah)

O you who believe! Stand out firmly for Allah and be just witnesses and let not the enmity and hatred of others make you avoid justice. Be just: that is nearer to piety, and fear Allah. Verily, Allah is Well-Acquainted with what you do [Al-Maeda 5:8]
