Part1:The Nature of Relationship between Ahlebayt(ra) and Sahaba(ra)

The Nature of Relationship between Ahlebayt(ra) and Sahaba(ra)

Introduction:

In The Name of Allah, The Beneficent, The Merciful.

The creed (‘aqeedah) of Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jamaa’ah is based on  the teachings of Prophet(Saw) and his companions, because this is what  Quran (4:115) teaches us and also narrations of prophet (Musnad Ahmad 3/229 (8404). The companions of Prophet(saw) includes his relatives, as well as other believers. The reason Quran and prophet(saw) commanded to follow the way as Companions believed, was because they were uppermost of the Ummah in Imaan and most virtuous in station in the sight of Allaah. Allah didn’t just say that follow Ahlebayt, but Allah said believers which included sahaba as well as Ahlebayt and the reason they were commanded to be followed is because they all were on the same creed.  And they all shared beautiful and friendly relations between each other, as evident from quran , and even from the opinions of each other.

But unfortunately some evil groups in the muslim ummah spread false views through which they portray that Ahlebayt and sahaba were enemies of each other, and they possessed hatred for each other, which is not true at all. What these evil groups whom we call as shian e dajjal(since they only want to creat fitna) do is that they mostly pick weak or fabricated narrations or rarely authentic narrations (but misinterpreting them) and then they sketch the nature of relationships between Sahaba and Ahlebayt, which appears in a way that Ahlebayt and Sahaba were enemies of one and another.

So in this series we will be presenting before our respected readers the other side of the coin, which the fitna mongers(shian e dajjal) never show. Which will Inshallah show our unbiased and honest readers the true nature of relationships Sahaba and Ahlebayt Shared among each other. You will discover how much love, care and affection they shared for each other(i.e Ahlebayt and sahaba).

We pray to Allah to fill our hearts with the love of Ahlebayt and Sahaba. To make us discover the true nature of relationship between Sahaba and Ahlebayt which was filled with love, care and affection for each other, unlike what fitna mongers portray. We even pray Allah to remove even minute part of disrespect if its present in our hearts for these noble personalities, which is even mentioned in Quran(59:10).  And to save all muslims from the deception of fitna mongers(shian e dajjal) who mislead people and make them insult and hate Ahlebayt and Sahaba, in the name of love for certain part of Ahlebayt. Remember peace in this ummah can only be established if all muslims love, respect complete Ahlebayt and Sahaba, whole heartedly(which the fitna mongers don’t want to happen).

A famous Taba’ee Maymoon bin Mehran said:

A group says, “We cannot ask forgiveness in favor of Uthman and Ali. I say, May Allah forgive Uthman, Ali, Talha and Zubayr. [al-Shariah by Ajuri, vol 3, page 22, #1289 ; Chain is Sahih].

The Rafidah and Nasibis both question Ahlusunnah that, how could we love Uthman(ra) and Ali(ra) at the same time. Let’s see what the companion of Prophet(saws) said in this regards.

Anas bin Malik(ra) said: They say, the heart of believer cannot gather the love of Uthman and Ali together, And this is their lie. Praise be to Allah! Allah(swt) has gathered their love together, in our hearts. [al-Shariah by Ajuri, vol 4, page 1770 – 1771, #1226 & #1227] ; another edition [al-Shariah by Ajuri, vol 3, page 2122, #1286 & #1287 ; Chain is Sahih].

An example of the close relation between Sahaba,  where we find a beautiful response by Sad bin Abi Waqas(ra) to those who talk about affairs between the Sahaba.

Imam Ahmad narrated
Tariq bin Shihab said: There was a dispute between Khalid ibn waleed and Sad bin abi waqas, a person spoke against Khalid (in favor of Sad), Sad said (to the one who was speaking against Khalid): Whatever is in between us (Sahaba) that does not affect our deen(religion). [Fadail as-Sahaba by Ahmad no. 1311, The Muhaqqiq said: “The chain is saheeh”]

Meaning is clear, STOP do not speak against Sahaba even if we have disputes, that does not have any impact on our deen, we will still be in jannah inshaAllah.

Imam Abu Shihab al-Hannaat said:

The love of Abu bakr, Umar, Uthman and Ali can only gather in the hearts of God-fearing people of this Ummah. [al-Shariah by Ajuri, vol 4, page 1771, #1228].

Imam Hassan al-Muthanna said:

Love us(Ahl al-bayt) for the sake of Allah if we obey Allah. If we disobey Allah then hate us! Had Allah made familial links to the Messenger salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam a means of benefit without obedience then the most eligible for that would have been his father and mother.[Nasb Quraysh, 2/49.]

Part 10. Nature of Relationship between Ahlebayt(ra) and Some other Sahaba(ra)

Important Note:

We even want to notify to our readers that in this series “SOME reports which we bring might turn out to be weak” , but the reason we are bringing them along with several authentic narrations is because, to present before you the “other side of the coin“. Since the fitna mongers always tend to mostly use weak narrations, inorder to achieve their evil desires and using those weak narrations they portray that Ahlebayt and sahaba were enemies of each other, So why can’t we use “SOME” weak narrations along with several authentic narrations for a noble cause, which shows the true nature of relationships the Ahlebayt and sahaba had between them, which is even supported by Quran. We do expect some fitna mongers(shian e dajjal) will try to question the authenticity of some narrations inorder to deviate their audience from pondering over the reality, but we demand justice. When its justified for those fitna mongers to use majority of weak narrations against the relationship between Sahaba and Ahlebayt,  then what wrong are we doing in presenting before our readers the other side of the coin using “SOME” weak narrations(along with authentic narrations)?

The Prophet (saw) said, “Do not abuse my companions for if any one of you spent gold equal to Uhud (in Allah’s Cause) it would not be equal to a Mud or even a half Mud spent by one of them.”(Sahih al-Bukhari #3673)

  3. ONLY A TRUTHFUL CAN INVOKE CURSE OF ALLAH ON LIARS

QURAN 3:61] If any one disputes in this matter with thee, now after (full) knowledge Hath come to thee, say: “Come! let us gather together,- our sons and your sons, our women and your women, ourselves and yourselves: Then let us earnestly pray, and invoke the curse of Allah on those who lie!”

This verse refers to the well-known event of mubahilah mentioned in every book of history, traditions and tafsir written by Muslim scholars.

The Holy Prophet was sending invitations to all to accept the true religion of Allah. Tribe after tribe, region after region, were coming into the fold of Islam. One such invitation was sent to the Christians of Najran, a town in Yemen, in the 9th year of Hijra. A deputation of 60 scholars came to discuss the matter with the Holy Prophet. Abdul Masih, the chief monk, asked him as to who was the father of Isa, thinking that the Holy Prophet would accept (God as the father of Isa. Verse 59 of this surah was revealed and presented to the Christians as a reply but they did not listen to reason. Then this verse was revealed to call them to a spiritual contest by invoking the curse of Allah on the liars mubahilah. The Christians agreed to this contest.

Early next morning, the 24th of the month of Dhilhijjah, the Holy Prophet sent Salman to the selected site, outside the city area, to set up a shelter for those whom he would take with him, as his sons, women and selves.

A large number of companions assembled in the masjid, making themselves available for the selection. On the opposite side of the field, selected for the contest, the Christians, with their selected men, women and children appeared on the scene.

At the appointed hour, a huge crowd, standing in wait, saw the Holy Prophet coming in, Imam Husayn in his arms, Imam Hasan holding his index finger, walking beside him, Bibi Fatimah Zahra, close to his heels and Imam Ali just behind her-as his sons, women, and selves. It should be noted that although there was provision for “women” and “selves” the Holy Prophet selected one “woman” and one “self”-Fatimah and Ali, because there was no woman and no man among his followers at that time who could be brought into the contest of invoking the curse of Allah on the liars. They alone were the truthful ones. (see commentary of al Tawbah: 119).

The Holy Prophet raised his hands to the heaven and said:

“O my Lord! These are my Ahle Baite”.

    • No one denied that Fatima(ra) was truthful. Even Abu Bakr(ra) attested this fact.

We read in al-Tarikah with its chain from Anas that Abu Bakr(ra) told Fatimah(ra):

[Abu Bakr told her: “You are reliable and trusted in my sight, if Rasul-Allah (saw) had promised you anything concerning this, I would believe you and hand it to you.” Fatimah replied: “The messenger (saw) never said anything, it is only what is written in the Qur’an.”]

Similarly, we read in Sharah Nahjul Balagha of Shia Mutazili Ibn Abil Hadeed:
Al-Jawhari reports from Abu Zaid [Umar bin Shabbah the author of Tareekh al-Madinah] from ‘Amr bin Marzooq from Shu’bah from ‘Amr bin Murrah from Abu al-Bakhtari: Abu Bakr said to her(Fatima) when she demanded the Fadak, “May my father and mother be sacrificed for you! You are truthful and trustworthy near me. If the Messenger of Allah (saw) provided you something (of Fadak) or had promised you something I will affirm it and will handle it to you.” She replied, “The Messenger of Allah did not entrusted me anything regarding it but Allah the Exalted has said (Allah commands you regarding your children).” He said, “I bear witness that I heard him saying (we are the group of Prophets we do not inherit).” (Sharah Nahjul balagha,Ibn Abil Hadeed , vol 16, no. 228).

As for the issue of Mubahila, then Please read our article about Mubahila:

Can the incident of mubahila be used as an evidence to exclude wives of prophet(Saw) from his Ahlebayt?

  4. Scholars have made statements like:

Which says that the person from whom Humayd does Tadlees while narrating is a known person and he is trustworthy and that narrator’s name is Thaabit.
