The Fact about Aale Muhammad regarding which Shias are unaware

The Fact about Aale Muhammad regarding which Shias are unaware

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Almighty Allah sends Salawat and Salaams upon Prophet Muhammad(Sall Allahu ‘alaihi wa Salim), So when Allah send Salawat on Prophet(Saw), He is actually blessing him. When the Malaa’ikah(angels) and the Muslims send Salawat and Salaams to Prophet(Sall Allahu ‘alaihi wa Salim), they are actually showing Almighty Allah their respect for the Holy Prophet(Sall Allahu ‘alaihi wa Salim). Muslims hope that, through the blessings of the Salawat and Salaams, Almighty Allah will forgive them of their sins and increase their status in this world and in the Aakirah. But do the shias qualify for this? Let us see in brief.

What is the meaning of Aal Muhammad?

The meaning of “Aal” is not identical to “Ahl”. In its limited connotation, the Arabic word ‘Aal’ is used for the family of a person. However, in a wider connotation, the word is also used for the followers – or the spiritual or moral progeny of an individual.  The word “aal” have been used in Quran and ahadeeth for different meaning, Sometimes it was used to mean family(wives and children), sometimes it was used to mean close relatives(all those upon whom sadaqa was for forbidden)  and sometimes it was used to mean followers.

Allama ibn e Mansur Afreeqi Misri the famous lexicographer writes in his dictionary Lisaan ul ‘Arab:

“The آل (aal) of a person is his اهل, and the آل of Allah and his Messenger are their friends (followers)…”

The discussion will extend to several pages if I give examples for usage of آل in Quran, hadith and common Arabic. I’ll briefly elaborate our understanding of the word آل.

(Aal Haqeeqi) These are the wives and the children of Prophet Muhammad.

(Aal Majazi) These include the son in law and grandchildren of Rasulullah.

(Aal Nasabi/Spiritual lineage) These include the guided followers of Rasulullah, who try their best to follow him and his mission.

But in this article our aim is to present before readers that what does, “Aal” mean in Salawat, because there exists differing opinions from scholars that what does “aal” mean in regards to Salawat. So we would like to present before you the two most strongest and reasonable meanings of Aal Muhammad in Salawat.

View – I

It means WIVES and children of Prophet(Saw), which is Aal haqeeqi according to Lisaan al Arab. This view is based on the authentic hadeeth from Sahi Muslim and many other hadeeth books, which teaches one version of Salawat on Prophet(Saw). In this hadeeth the word Aal, was replaced by the words “wives and children”, which explains that what Aal means.

Here is that hadeeth:

Abu Humaid as−Sa’idi reported: They (the Companions of the Holy Prophet) said: Apostle of Allah, how should we bless you? He (the Holy Prophet) observed: Say:” O Allah! bless Muhammad, his wives and his offspring as Thou didst bless Ibrahim, and grant favours to Muhammad, and his wives and his offspring as Thou didst grant favours to the aal of Ibrahim; Thou art Praiseworthy and Glorious.” (Sahi muslim Bk 4, Number 0807)

View – II

According to the second strongest view, it means all the righteous followers of Prophet Muhammad(Saw), which means Aal Nasabi(Spiritual lineage) according to Lisaan al Arab.

This view is also based on several strong proofs. For example:

(A)

The Prophet (pbuh) was asked: “Who are your Aal Muhammad” and he (pbuh) replied: “Every righteous person is from Aal Muhammad” and added the verse “His allies are the righteous”.( tafsir of Sunan Abu Dawud)

(B). Salat which is sent on Prophet(saw) during prayer(Salah/Namaz) comes after Salam on Prophet(Saw) which is sent in Tashahhud. Salam is sent on Prophet(Saw) then after that Salat. Now when we see the procedure taught by Prophet(Saw) for Salam, we find that Salam was sent on Prophet(saw) and also the righteous servants of Allah.

Ibn ‘Abbas reported: The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) used to teach us tashahhud just as he used to teach us a Sura of the Qur’an, and he would say: All services rendered by., words, acts of worship. and all good things are due to Allah. Peace be upon you,0 Prophet. and Allah’s mercy and blessings. Peace be upon us and upon Allah’s righteous servants(saliheen). I testify that there is no god but Allah, and I testify that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. (Sahi muslim Bk 4, Number 0798)

From this we find that since Salam during prayer was sent on righteous believers along with Prophet(Saw), then in the same manner the Salat was also sent on righteous believers along with Prophet(Saw).

(C). We read in a Shia Hadith that, al-Hassan bin al-Hussein (rah) says that Zaid bin `Ali (rah) is from Aale-Muhammad, which implies that aale-Muhammad aren’t some divinely chosen infallibles.

We read in the Shia book, Ikhtiyar Ma`rifat al-Rijal by al-Tusi (Rijal al-Kashshi)

[Hamdaweih said: Ayyub told us: Hanan bin Sudair said: I was sitting with al-Hassan bin al-Hussein, then Sa`eed bin Mansour came and he was from the leaders of the Zaydiyyah, and he said: “What do you think of wine? Zaid used to drink it” so he said: “I do not believe that Zaid would drink the intoxicant” he said: “Yes, he drank it” he replied: “Even if he did, Zaid is not a prophet or a successor of a prophet, he is only a man from Aale-Muhammad, he makes mistakes.”]

(D). Shia tafseer[The Light of The Holy Qur’an] for the verse 130 of Surat as-Saffat states:We must learn from Allah (s.w.t.) how to greet to Divine prophets, the great friends of Allah. This verse says: {“Peace be on ’Ilyāsin (Elyās).”}The application of the term ’Ilyāsīn instead of Elyās is either for the sake that ’Ilyāsīn was a word inside the term Elyās and both of them have the same meaning; or it refers to Elyās and his followers which has been used in this total form.

(Source: The Light of The Holy Qur’an  by Ayatullah Sayyid Kamal Faghih Imani and A Group of Muslim Scholars, under explanation of verse, 37:130)

Comment: Interestingly we find that the Shia scholars gave two opinions, the second opinion is that Ilyas and HIS FOLLOWERS were ment by ‘il Yasin’.

Even the famous Shia translator of Quran in English language – Muhammad Sarwar – translated this verse as:

Peace be with the followers of Elias. (Quran 37:130).

(E). We read in the book of Shia Shiekh at-Toosi, under the heading “The person who obeys Aale Muhammad, He will be counted as one amongst Aale Muhammad”; where he presents a hadeeth from Imam Abu Abdillah as-sadiq(as), who said that Umar bin Yazeed was from Aale Muhammad. Then he eventually comments stating that, “due to obedience, not only a person is included in Aale Muhammad, but it makes him HizbAllah. (Amaali by al-Toosi, part 1, pg 126-127)

(F). Sheikh Ibn Jibrîn recalls some lines of poetry in his Ibhâj Al-Mu’minîn (an explanation of Manhaj As-Sâlikîn ), which defines the meaning of Aal.

The aal of the Prophet are those followers of his religion
Be he a foreigner from amongst them or an Arab,
If his aal were not but his kinsmen
Then the supplicant has prayed for the tyrant Abu Lahab.
So the companions are from the Prophet’s (sall Allâhu `alayhi wasallam) Aal, as are his followers and ummah. The usage of the word aâl to carry this meaning has precedence in the Qur’ân.
So We saved you and drowned the followers(aal) of Firon and you watched by.(Surah Al-Baqarah 2:50)

This is the Similar view of Sheikh Abu Ammaar Yasir Qadhi, who is a world renowned Muslim scholar and orator.

The Fact about Salawat regarding which Shias are unaware

Allah Almighty said in holy Quran: “Allah and His angels send blessings on the Prophet: O ye that believe! Send ye blessings on him, and salute him with all respect.” (Surah al-Ahzab: 56)

By obeying this command of Allah, Muslims send blessings and Salutations on Prophet(Saw) in various forms. One of these forms is “Salawat e Ibrahimi” which is also called as “Durood e Ibrahimi”, this type of blessing is specially for the blessings we send on Prophet(Saw) in our Salah(namaz), because as it is reported in authentic narrations that when Prophet(saw)  approached his companions, they said to him that they know how to send “peace(salam)” on Prophet(Saw) [i.e in tashahud] but they requested him to teach them that how should they send salawat on Prophet(Saw) and Ahlebayt. Thus at that time Prophet(Saw) taught the companions this method of sending blessings and salutations on Prophet(Saw) in their prayer(salah).

Here is that narration, Sahi bukhari 4.589: Narrated `Abdur−Rahman bin Abi Laila: Ka`b bin Ujrah met me and said, “Shall I not give you a present I got from the Prophet?” `Abdur−Rahman said, “Yes, give it to me.” I said, “We asked Allah’s Apostle saying, ‘O Allah’s Apostle! How should one (ask Allah to) send blessings on you, the aal, for Allah has taught us how to salute you (in the prayer)?’ He said, ‘Say: O Allah! Send Your Mercy on Muhammad and on the aal of Muhammad(Ahlebayt), as You sent Your Mercy on Abraham and on the aal of Abraham, for You are the Most Praise−worthy, the Most Glorious. O Allah! Send Your Blessings on Muhammad and the aal of Muhammad, as You sent your Blessings on Abraham and on the aal of Abraham, for You are the Most Praise−worthy, the Most Glorious.’ ”

Thus Ahlesunnah sends blessings and salutations on Prophet(Saw) during their Salah(prayers) with Ibrahimic prayer in this manner:

«Allahoumma salli ala mohammed wa ala ali mohammed kama saleyta ala ibrahim wa ala ali ibrahim wa barik ala mohammed wa ala ali mohammed kama barakta ala ibrahim wa ala ali ibrahim fil alamine. innaka hamidun majid.»

Translation:
«O Allah, bless our Muhammad and the aal of Muhammad As you have blessed Abraham and the aal of Abraham. O Allah, be gracious unto Muhammad and the aal of Muhammad As you were gracious unto Abraham and the aal of Abraham. Surely you are the Most Praiseworthy, the Most Glorious.»

Where as the Shias send blessings and salutations on Prophet(saw) in the below manner:

“Ash-hadu anna la ilaha illa Allah, wahdahu la shareeka lah, wa ash-hadu anna muhammadan ‘abduhu wa-rasuluhu. Allahumma salli ala Muhammadin wa ‘ali Muhammed.” (source)

Translation:
“I bear witness that there is no god but Allah the one and only with no partners and I bear witness that Muhammad is his slave and messenger, O Allah send your blessing on Muhammad and the aal of Muhammad”.

Though there is a BIG difference between how Sunnis and Shias send  Salawat on Prophet(Saw) during their Salah, because Salawat Ibrahimi which Sunnis send on Prophet(Saw) is the BEST form of Salawat that could be send on Prophet(Saw) and its much better than the ones which Shias send on Prophet(Saw). Significance of Salawat Ibrahimi will be explained later in this article , but the common part in Salawat of Ahlesunnah and Shias is this, “Allahumma salli ala Muhammadin wa ‘ali Muhammed.’, which translates as “O Allah send your blessing on Muhammad and the aal of Muhammad”. We find that both Ahlesunnah as well as Shias send blessings on Prophet(saw) and his Aal. But the fact regarding Aal e Muhammad which most of the Shias are unaware of is that, Aal e Muhammad(saw) INCLUDES WIVES OF PROPHET(SAW). This is evident from another authentic version of Salawat which explains us that wives of Prophet(Saw) are a part of “Aal e Muhammad”.

Comment: In the above narration though Prophet(saw) taught us how to send blessings on him and his aal as in general version, But here prophet(saw) in a crystal clear manner teaches us that his wives and his progeny are from his aal. And they too are part of his aal, because if supposedly wives of Prophet(saw) were not from his aal but Prophet(saw) just wanted to include his wives in the blessings, then the wordings of the Salawat would have been like this “his wives and his ‘aal which was not the case here. And it seems that Prophet(saw) knew that there will be some ignorants who will deny wives of prophet(saw) to be part of his blessed aal, that is why prophet(saw) in an explicit manner in the above narration showed that his wives and his progeny are from his aal. That’s why instead of using “aal” as in general form of Salawat, here prophet(Saw) emphasized on  elaborating that who were included his ‘aal’. Prophet(saw) here used the word Aal for hz ibrahim’s(as) aal as he knew that there will be no dispute about wives of Ibrahim(as) being from his aal but for his case he had to clear that his wives and his progeny are from his aal because he didn’t want people to be misguided by some deviants who might say that wives of prophet(Saw) were not from his aal. Thus instead of using “aal” like he used for hz ibrahim(as)’s aal , he used wives and offspring.

This authentic version is also present in several books of Ahlesunnah for example, sunan Abu Dawud:

(source)

Here is one more proof from authentic narration where beloved wife of Prophet(Saw) explicitly states that she is from Aal e Muhammad(Saw) :

Musannaf ibn abi shaybah (chapter Laa tahillu al-sadqa ala bani hashim)

Narrated with sahi sanad From Ibn Abu Malika [narrated] that: Khaled Ibn Saeed sent a cow from the Sadaqah to Aisha, so she sent it back and said: We are the Aal of Muhammad(saw) the sadaqah is not permissible for us.[This hadees(narration) is authentic. Which was even said by sheikh Abdul Muhsin bin Hammad Al-’Abbad Al-Badr in his book the status of Ahlebayt in the sight of Ahle Sunnah, page 12 ]

As for a more explicit evidences then here they are, in this Hadith prophet(saw) is talking to ‘Aisha (ra) regarding her female servant, this is how it goes:

Narrated ‘Aisha: I intended to buy buraira but her masters stipulated that her Wala should be for them. When the Prophet was told about it, he said to me, “Buy and manumit her, as the Wala’ is for the liberator.” Once buraira was given some meat, and the Prophet asked, “What is this?” I said, “It has been given to buraira in charity.” He said, “It is sadaqa for her but a gift for us.” buraira was given the option (to stay with her husband or to part with him). [Sahi bukhari, Book #47, Hadith #752]

Comment: Now notice Prophet(saw) was talking with ‘Aisha (ra) and he told her “For us it is a gift” which means that for the Prophet(saw) and ‘Aisha (ra) both, he’ll consider it a gift since they do not take Sadaqah, but for Buraira it is a Sadaqah. He didn’t say for me its gift, but for you and buraira its Sadaqa.

In the following hadeeth, a group of women came to ‘Aishah to ask her some questions, and in this hadeeth we find that Aishah(ra) refered to herself as AAL Muhammad.

Thus we find that when Ahlesunnah or Shias send blessings on Aal e Muhammad(saw) it also includes wives of Prophet(saw).

This fact is also evident from verse of Quran :

إِلاَّ آلَ لُوطٍ إِنَّا لَمُنَجُّوهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ إِلاَّ امْرَأَتَهُ قَدَّرْنَا إِنَّهَا لَمِنَ الْغَابِرِينَ

Only the family(aal) of Lot will all be saved, except his wife who is doomed to be left behind.” (sarwar shia translator 15:59-60)

Comment: In this verse the construction “except his wife” would be nonsensical unless the wife was included in the family(aal) of Loot . Otherwise, why would Allah need to clarify that Loot’s wife was an exception to the rule that the family of Loot would be saved?

And even the Shia Exegesis says the same that family of lot(as) included even his wife too, Shia commentary states:

The verse says: Save the family of Lot, We shall surely rescue them all. However, as the Arabic phrase/ ‘alalout/ (the family of Lot) with an emphasis on/ ‘ajma’in/ (them all) , included all of his family members encompassing even his misguided wife, who cooperated with the pagans, and perhaps with the awareness of ‘Ibrahim of the matter, the angels immediately made her an exception to the rule, and said: ” Except his wife, of whom we decreed that she should be among those who remain behind (in the chastisement) . ”

[Source: The Light of The Holy Qur’an  by Ayatullah Sayyid Kamal Faghih Imani and A Group of Muslim Scholars, under explanation of verse (15:60)]

Thus it should be crystal clear now for unbiased readers that wives of Prophet(saw) are also included in the blessings when Muslims send on Aal e Muhammad(saw). And wives of Prophet(Saw) also includes mothers of believers like Ayesha(ra) and Hafsa(ra). Had it been that Allah wanted to keep these two wives of Prophet(saw)[whom the shia hate and curse] away from his blessings then he would have made Prophet(saw) teach us the Salawat with the wordings of exclusion of wives of Prophet(Saw) or atleast two wives of Prophet(Saw) from it. Like he did in the case for the wives of Prophet Loot(as), “Only the family(aal) of Lot will all be saved, EXCEPT HIS WIFE(15:60)” . So even in this case Allah would have taught us something similar to this, So that people shouldn’t be confused regarding this matter.  Prophet(saw) would have taught us the salawat like this: “, O Allah send your blessing on Muhammad and the aal of Muhammad, except his wives” OR “, O Allah send your blessing on Muhammad and the aal of Muhammad, except his two wives”.  However nothing as such was taught by Prophet(Saw) to his followers, which clearly proves that when Muslims send blessings on Aal e Muhamad(Saw)  it also includes wives of Prophet(Saw), including Ayesha(ra) and Hafsa(ra).

But unfortunately many ignorant and deviant Shias though UNKNOWINGLY send blessings on these two wives of Prophet(Saw) BUT KNOWINGLY they curse these two wives of Prophet(saw). On one hand they UNKNOWINGLY ask Allah to shower his blessings on these two wives but on the other hand KNOWINGLY they ask Allah to keep them far from His Mercy. This is the stupidity which they perform during their supplications.

Muslims hope that, through the blessings of the Salawat and Salaams, Almighty Allah will forgive them of their sins and increase their status in this world and in the Aakirah, but due to their ignorance and misguidance Shias dishonor, insult and curse some of the personalities who were included among the ones who are honored, respected and blessed by Allah. And respecting , honoring and sending blessings on them could have become a means to get their sins forgiven.

Advice to objective Shias :  We sincerely advice the lay Shias to ponder over this fact which will remain as a fact whether they agree or not, that wives of Prophet(Saw) including Ayesha(ra) and Hafsa(ra) are included in Aal e Muhammad(Saw) when they send Salawat on Aal e Muhammad(saw). And if they truly fear about their Akhirah(hereafter) then they should atleast remain silent in regards to Ayesha(ra) and Hafsa(ra) and should not insult or curse them. Because the stronger proofs as well as intellect suggests that wives of Prophet(Saw) possess a high status and great honor in sight of Allah. So they should behave in a more sensible and unbiased manner by which they could be saved from being ruined in hereafter.

And Shias should ponder over this fact that if they abandon cursing and insulting or hating these wives of Prophet(saw) they they will be NOT punished in the hereafter. But if at all they curse them , dishonor and insult them then and if supposedly they find in the hereafter that what they did was wrong then it will be a big problem for them. So they should correct themselves before its too late. Lastly we would like to present before shias a verse of Quran as an advice for them.

O you who believe! Stand out firmly for Allah and be just witnesses and let not the enmity and hatred of others make you avoid justice. Be just: that is nearer to piety, and fear Allah. Verily, Allah is Well-Acquainted with what you do} [Al-Maeda 5:8]

May Allah guide them.

Advice to Shiatu dajjal : The above advice was for shias who are unbiased and moderate but for some fanatic bigots like Shiatu dajjal who possess the characteristics of the ones mentioned in this noble verse of Quran: {“We had given to them ears and eyes and hearts, but neither their ears benefited them in the least, nor their eyes, nor their hearts, as they used to reject Allāh’s signs; and they were encircled by what they used to ridicule.” [46:26]} They will surely try to find some senseless excuse to reject the proofs we provided in our article. So to such idiots we advice that they while they send salawat on prophet(Saw) they should include the wording of exclusion like those present in Quran for wife of Loot(as), They should start sending salawat in this manner: “O Allah send your blessing on Muhammad and the aal of Muhammad, except his wives” OR “O Allah send your blessing on Muhammad and the aal of Muhammad, except his two wives”. Because the normal Salawat without the wording of exclusion makes a mockery of the dajjali believes of cursing the two wives of Prophet(saw).

Refuting some ridiculous claims raised by Shiatu dajjal in regards to Salawat Ibrahimi

Argument 1:

Shiawebsite[Wilayat.net] stated:

[Quote] What are Allah’s blessings upon Ibrahim and his family? The following verses help us out:

[al-hilali and khan 3:33] Allah CHOSE Adam, Nuh (Noah), the family of Ibrahim (Abraham) and the family of ‘Imran above the ‘Alamin (mankind and jinns) (of their times).

And:

[al-hilali and khan 4:54] Or do they envy men for what Allah has given them of His Bounty? Then We had already given the family of Ibrahim (Abraham) THE BOOK AND AL-HIKMAH, and conferred upon them A GREAT KINGDOM.

In other words, WE ASK Allah to place the following in the family of Muhammad (عليهم السلام):

1. Imamah (also called kingdom)

2. Prophethood

3. The Book

4. Hikmah (knowledge)

5. His Salam

We also ask Him to CHOOSE the Ahl al-Bayt (عليهم السلام) ABOVE THE WORLDS and to GUIDE them ALWAYS.

No family in this Ummah can claim to have been blessed with ALL THE ABOVE except the Ahl al-Bayt (عليهم السلام)! Their leader, Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم), was both an Imam and a prophet. He was given a Book, and wisdom. He was also chosen above the worlds and guided by Allah in his affairs. If prophethood had not ended with Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم), it CERTAINLY would have continued in his family. But then, Imamah remains – which is why the Ahl al-Bayt (عليهم السلام) are the Imams! Moreover, all the other blessings remain. The Ahl al-Bayt (عليهم السلام) are the heirs of the Book and wisdom, and are chosen above the worlds and guided by Allah [Quote]

Let us shatter this stupidity of Shiatu dajjal by analyzing the verse of Quran they cited:

[al-hilali and khan 4:54] Or do they envy men for what Allah has given them of His Bounty? Then We had already given the family of Ibrahim (Abraham) THE BOOK AND AL-HIKMAH, and conferred upon them A GREAT KINGDOM.

We see in this verse that family of Ibrahim(as) mentioned in this verse was granted three things TOGETHER:

a) The book. b) Al Hikmah. c) Great Kingdom.

1. Now the first question which raises in regards to this stupidity of shiatu dajjal is that why are the shias asking Allah to place the following in the family of Muhammad(saw):1. Imamah (also called kingdom) 2. Prophethood 3. The Book 4. Hikmah (knowledge)Because everything mentioned over here is ALREADY granted to family of Prophet(Saw) according to Shias. Yet they are claiming that by Salawat e Ibrahimi we ask Allah to grant family of Muhammad(saw) those things which were already granted to them. This is indeed ridiculous and it shows to people of intellect that how stupid dajjali interpretations are.

2. Secondly the other important question which raises is that, were ALL these three things granted to Aal(family) of Muhammad(saw)? Was the BOOK and Great Kingdom granted to Aal e Muhammad(saw)? No! not at all, the family of Muhammad(saw) were neither granted any divine book from Allah nor they were granted any sort of kingdom. Quran is the last and final divine book that was granted to prophet Muhammad(saw) ONLY, and he gave it to HIS UMMAH, he didn’t keep it for his family alone, like the shiatu dajjal are trying to portray which is infact an accusation on Prophet(Saw). And regarding the kingdom then none of the family members of Prophet(saw)  were granted any sort of kingdom except Ali(ra) and Hassan(ra). This proves that the comparison shiatu dajjal tried to make using salawat e ibrahimi was their own self made (senseless)interpretation inorder to deceive people.

3. Thirdly and MOST IMPORTANTLY , the most important question now for shiatu dajjal is that: Is Fatima(ra) included in the Salawat according to shiatu dajjal? Because neither was she granted kingdom, nor book, nor Imamah, So are the Shiatu dajjal again going to EXCLUDE the beloved daughter of Prophet(Saw) even from SALAWAT, like they excluded her from Ahlebayt mentioned in hadeeth Thaqalayn?  Because even in that case when the dajjalis found that Fatima(ra) is not fitting in their home made heretic beliefs they boldly removed  her from Ahlebayt,

AND NOW AGAIN they are trapped in the similar situation, because either they will have to acknowledge the fact that they tried to deceive people with their interpretation of Salawat e Ibrahimi where they tried to portray this :

[Quote] In other words WE ASK Allah to place the following in the family of Muhammad (عليهم السلام): 1.Imamah (also called kingdom)  2.Prophethood  3.The Book  4.Hikmah (knowledge)  5.His Salam [Quote].

Or they will have to again EXCLUDE Fatima(ra) from Salawat similar to what they did with her in regards to Ahlebayt mentioned on Hadith Thaqalayn.

The other version of Salawat destroys the deceptive motives of Shiatu dajjal:

Abu Humaid as−Sa’idi reported: They (the Companions of the Holy Prophet) said: Apostle of Allah, how should we bless you? He (the Holy Prophet) observed: Say:” O Allah! bless Muhammad, his wives and his offspring as Thou didst bless Ibrahim, and grant favours to Muhammad, and his wives and his offspring as Thou didst grant favours to the family of Ibrahim; Thou art Praiseworthy and Glorious.” (Sahi muslim Bk 4, Number 0807)

Comment: We see in the above version of Salawat that, just as Allah blessed aal(family) of Ibrahim , we ask Allah to even bless WIVES(azwaj) of Prophet(Saw) and his offspring(zuriyaat). So if the stupid interpretation of shiatu dajjal is applied here then does it mean that we are asking Allah to grant WIVES of prophet(saw), Kingdom, book, hikmah etc? No not at all, even the shiatu dajjal will not agree with this because its generally acceptable belief that women are not granted Prophethood or Imamah etc, So why would anyone even ask Allah to grant wives of Prophet(Saw) these favours?. Thus this version  of Salawat exposes and destroys the deceptive interpretation for Salawat e Ibrahimi by Shiatu dajjal, because the blessings mentioned in this Salawat are not those blessings which Shiatu dajjal tried to entitle for Aal e Muhammad(saw).

What is the significance of  Salawat e Ibrahimi.

There is a well-known question among the people of knowledge about the nature of the comparison in his(saw) statement, “as you sent prayers on …“, for it is true that the MODEL FOR COMPARISON IS NORMALLY SUPERIOR TO THE ONE BEING COMPARED; but here, the opposite is the case, since Muhammad (sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) is greater than Ibraaheem, and so his superiority dictates that the prayers requested are more excellent than any prayers received or to be received by anyone else.

A well-supported view, which is even adopted by Shaikh-ul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah and Ibn al-Qayyim. is that : “The aal of Ibraaheem includes many prophets; none like them is found in the aal of Muhammad. Therefore, when prayers on the Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) and his aal are sought similar to that bestowed on Ibraaheem and his aal(which includes prophets), the aal of Muhammad receives out of that what is appropriate for them. Since the aal of Muhammad does not reach the rank of the prophets, and the extra blessings and benefit given to the prophets, including Ibraaheem, are left for Muhammad (sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam). Thus he gains a distinguished position which others cannot reach.”  Thus this is the reason why the comparison is made between aal of Ibrahim(as)[which had prophets among them] and aal of Muhammad(saw)[which didn’t have any prophet among them].

Argument 2:

Shiawebsite[Wilayat.net] stated:

[Quote] Now, if Allah (عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ) does bless the Ahl al-Bayt (عليهم السلام) in the same way that He blessed the family of Ibrahim of all the worlds, would anyone in this Ummah be equal to them? [Quote]

It is true that No other “FAMILY” from the Ummah could even imagine to be equal to family of Prophet(saw) . But this is in regards to a complete FAMILY as a whole and there could be individuals who could be equal and superior to certain individual members of Prophet’s family. For example, we know that Prophet(Saw) had 4 daughters, and he had several wives, who all are included in the family of Prophet(Saw), yet neither 3 other daughters of Prophet(Saw) nor the other wives of Prophet(saw) were included among the choosen women over all the worlds.

The Messenger of Allah (PBUH&HF) said: “The most excellent of the women of all worlds whom Allah chose over all women are: Asiya the wife of Pharaoh, Mary the daughter of Imran, Khadija the daughter of Khuwaylid, and Fatimah the daughter of Muhammad.” [Sahih al-Tirmidhi, v5, p702]

We know that the family of Asiya(as) the wife of Pharoah was not an honored family in the sight of Allah, yet she as an individual was choose her over all the women of the world. Similarly though from the Ummah of Muhammad(saw) there is no family that could be equal to the family of Prophet(saw), but there were individuals who were superior to certain individual members of Prophetic family and here is the proof for that:

Narrated Muhammad bin AlHanafiya(son of Ali(ra)): I asked my father (`Ali bin Abi Talib), “Who are the best people after Allah’s Apostle ?” He said, “Abu Bakr.” I asked, “Who then?” He said, “Then `Umar. ” I was afraid he would say “Uthman, so I said, “Then you?” He said, “I am only an ordinary person. (Sahi bukhari 5.20).  This narration is Mutawattir. Here are the other chains for it. [Click this]

May Allah send Salah and Salam on the Prophet(saw), his household, companions and those who follow them.

  1. mashaallah well written, may Allah reward you and guide the Rawafid to the Quran and Sunnah.

  2. Assalamualaikum my muslim bortheres and sister….. From wat i’ve known regarding prophet Ibraghim’s progeny is that he had two son ismail and isaac… one son’s lineage led to the prophets family tree and the other’s led to prophet eesa……. so wen we include senind salaam to prohet ibrahim it covers up all the lineages….

    • Alaikumsalam sister, yes thats true but it even includes the other “righteous” children and wives of those Prophets(as). Not just the prophets from the progeny of Ibrahim(as).

  3. When i say lineage it means a man’s wives and children too… so sending darood to ibrahim a.s and prophet muhammmed (pbuh) includes entire family line also covering the family tree of Eesa a.s… and the family of our beloved prophet (pbuh).

  4. If aal e Mohammad(SAW) includes wives of the prophet, then why did the prophet not take his wives along when he went to face the Christians of Najran for Mubahila as ordered by Allah in the Quran. He only took Fatima, hasnain and Ali(A S) with him and returned victorious.

    • salamalaikum,

Brother, In our article we provided number of proofs from Quran and authentic ahadeeth which clearly shows that wives of Prophet Muhammad(Saw) are from Aal-e-Muhammad(Saw). So if you are seeking truth and if you are unbiased, then you should not ignore or skip those number of proof we provided. Thus we request you to ponder over those proofs. And regarding your question on Mubahila, then if you would have search our website then you would have found an entire article which answers your question. Please refer to this article on the topic of Mubahila: “Can the incident of mubahila be used as an evidence to exclude wives of prophet(Saw) from his Ahlebayt?”

May Allah give truth-seeking Shias Hidayah.

  5. why your all topics are about shias and sunni’s?????? and u call urself slaves of Allah…if Ur slaves of Allah then talk about ISLAM dont mention sects…and don’t try to proof others wrong and urself rights…Allah knows better

    • If we were in the very first times (of Islaam) before the sects had appeared and spread, This would be a correct to say that we are Muslims when anyone questions about our madhhab. But if we were to ask, now, any Muslim from any of these sects with which we differ on account of aqeedah(beliefs), his answer would not be any different to this word. All of them, the Shi’ite Rafidi, the Khaariji, the Nusayri Alawi, the Nasibis, would say, “I am a Muslim”. Hence, this answer is not sufficient in these days.” And as there is not harm in labelling oneself with Ahlesunnah wal jama’ah(sunni) when it is in truth. Then we must label our selves as Sunni(i.e those who are on the madhab of Ahlesunnah wal jama’ah). However, if it is merely a claim then it is not permissible to label oneself with Sunni, whilst one is upon a manhaj other than that of the Ahlesunnah wal Jama’ah. Hence, the one who claims that he is upon the madhhab of Ahl us-Sunnah wal-Jamaa’ah [actually] follows the path of Ahl us-Sunnah wal-Jamaa’ah and abandons the Opposers. However if he [is one who] wants to unite the lizard and the fisth – as they say – meaning, to unite a creature from the land with a creature from the sea, then this is not possible. Or to unite water and fire in a vessel. In light of this, Ahl us-Sunnah wal-Jamaa’ah do not reconcile with the path (madhhab) of those who oppose them such as the Khawarij, the Mu’tazilah, the Rafidah Shiah, etc.

al-Lalika’i mentioned in ‘Sharh Usul I’tiqad Ahl as-Sunnah walJama’ah’ (1/72) that the first person to have actually used the term ‘Ahl as-Sunnah’ was Ibn ‘Abbas, the Hashimi of the Ahl Al-Bayt, when explaining the verse: {“…on the day when some faces will be brightened, and some faces will be blackened…”} [Al ‘Imran; 106] He said: “Those whose faces will be brightened are Ahl as-Sunnah wal-Jama’ah. As for those whose faces will be blackened, then they are the people of innovation and misguidance (ahl al-bida’ wad-dalalah).”

And we prove the ones who are deviant to be wrong, and this is from the very basic teachings of Islam, to show the mistakes of deviants so that innocent Muslims don’t get misguided. Moreover, its even for the benefit for those people that we show their mistakes and correct them so that they could save their destiny and save themselves and their family from hell-fire.

  6. Shia rafidi govt of شام attack on Maqbara Khalid bin Waleed, lanat Allah on rafidi

  7. Brother, please re-read the article to clear your doubts regarding who aale Muhammad(Saw) are, since this has already been covered in the article. Secondly regarding proving infallibility of other than Ali, Fatima, Hassan and Husseiin(May Allah be please with them), this is invalid question because first you need to prove infallibility of these members from Quran and Sahi hadeeth. We recommend you to refer this article on this issue.
Does verse of tatheer(33:33) makes anyone infallible?

Regarding your queries on Mubahila event, then we recommend you to refer this article, Insha Allah your doubts will be cleared.
Can the incident of mubahila be used as an evidence to exclude wives of prophet(Saw) from his Ahlebayt?

  8. This person calling himself slaves of Allah seem to be decendant of yazeed , having bugaz for Ahle bait in his heart. May Allah forgive him and guide him properly

58-1 Muhammad ibn Ahmad al-Sinani narrated that Muhammad ibn Abi Abdullah al-Kufi quoted on the authority of Abul Faydh Salih ibn Ahmad, on the authority of Sahl ibn Ziyad, on the authority of Saleh ibn Abi Hammad, on the authority of Al-Hassan ibn Musa ibn al-Vosha’ al-Baghdadi, “I was with Ali ibn Musa Ar-Ridha’ (a.s.) in his meeting in Khorasan where Zayd ibn Musa (Imam Ar-Ridha’’s brother) was present and was haughty with those present saying that we (meaning the offspring of Imam Musa Al-Kazim (a.s.)) are such and such. Abul Hassan Ar-Ridha’ (a.s.) who was talking to others heard what Zayd had said. He (a.s.) faced him and said, ‘O Zayd! Have the words of the narrators from Kufa made you so proud when they say, ‘(The Blessed Lady) Fatima (a.s.) maintained her chastity, thus God has forbidden the Fire from touching her progeny.’ By God, this holds true only for Al-Hassan (a.s.), Al-Husayn (a.s.) and Fatima’s (a.s.) own especial offspring. However, if it were the case that your father Musa ibn Ja’far (a.s.) obeyed God, fasted in the daytime and worshipped God at night, but you disobey God and claim to be equal with him (Musa ibn Ja’far (a.s.)) in the Hereafter on the Resurrection Day, this would imply that you are dearer than him (Musa ibn Ja’far (a.s.)) in the sight of God. In fact, Ali ibn Al-Husayn (a.s.) said, ‘There are double rewards for the good-doers from amongst us, and there are double chastisements for the evil-doers from amongst us.’’”

Al-Hassan al-Washsha’ added, “Then the Imam (a.s.) turned to us and said, ‘O Hassan! How do you recite the following verse?, ‘He said, ‘O Noah! He is not of thy family: For his conduct is unrighteous.’’ I (Al-Hassan al-Washsha’) answered, ‘Some people read it in such a way as to mean ‘his conduct is unrighteous’ while others read it in such a manner as to mean ‘he has done ill’. Indeed those who read it in the first form are implying that he is not really of the family of Noah and consider someone else to be his father.’ The Imam (a.s.) said, ‘No. Indeed he was truly Noah’s son. However, since he disobeyed God the Honorable the Exalted, God separated him from his father. This is exactly the same situation that holds true for us (the Members of the Holy Household of the Prophet Muhammad (S)). Whichever one of us does not obey God the Honorable the Exalted does not belong to us. O Hassan! If you obey God the Honorable the Exalted, then you are one of us – the Members of the Holy Household.’”[Shia book: Uyun Akhbar Reza a.s, Author: Shaikh Sadooq, Chapter 58]

Some important facts from above narration.

    1. There is double reward for members of Ahlebait if they do good, and double punishment if they commit anything wrong.
    2. Love or relation with Ahlebait helps/benefits only when there is obedience to ALLAH.
    3. Anyone from offspring of Hassan a.s and Hussain a.s if obey ALLAH, he/she will be part of Ahlebait, otherwise not.
    4. Similarly, if anyone from amongst the ummah/believers obeys ALLAH, then he/she is also a part of Ahlebait.
