Part 6: Nature of Relationship between Ahlebayt(ra) and Umar(ra)

Nature of Relationship between Ahlebayt(ra) and Umar(ra)

Note: Part 1 is a must read before reading this part. Please read Part 1. And please read all the comments mentioned in this article.

Views of Ahlebayt(ra) regarding Umar(ra)

1. Abu Sariha said that I heard Ali saying on the pulpit “Indeed Abu Bakr was very kind hearted person and indeed Umar was a well wisher of God’s religion, hence Allah did good to him.(tabqat ibn saad, vol 3, page 121)

2.
Ubaidullah bin Mussa narrates from Abu Aqeel that a man asked Ali about Abu Bakr and Umar, he said Indeed they were Imams of guidance, and righteous ones and guiders.(tabqat ibn saad, vol3, page  139)

3.
Abdullah narrates that I heard Ali saying : Every Prophet is given 7 Najeeb from his Ummah, and Prophet (s) was given 14 Najeeb in his Ummah, and amongst them are Abu Bakr and Umar.(musnad ahmed, vol 1, page 132)

4. İbn Asakir in his “Tareeh madinatul dimashq” 30/361 narrated:

جاء رجل إلى علي بن أبي طالب فقال يا خير الناس بعد رسول الله ( صلى الله عليه و سلم ) قال له رأيت أبا بكر وعمر قال لا قال لو قلت إني رأيتهما لحددتك ثم قال خير هذه الأمة بعد نبيها أبو بكر وعمر نحن أهل بيت لا يقاس بنا أحد
“A man came to Ali and said to him: “O the best of the people after prophet (sallalahu alaihi wa ala alihi wa salam)”. Ali asked:”Have you seen Abu Bakr and Umar?” He said: “No”. Ali said: “If you would reply positively i would implement hadd upon you”. And then he said: “The best of this nation after prophet (sallalahu alaihi wa ala alihi wa salam) are Abi Bakr and Umar, and we are ahle-bayt no one can compared with us”.

5. Narrated Muhammad bin AlHanafiya: I asked my father (`Ali bin Abi Talib), “Who are the best people after Allah’s Apostle ?” He said, “Abu Bakr.” I asked, “Who then?” He said, “Then `Umar. ” I was afraid he would say “Uthman, so I said, “Then you?” He said, “I am only an ordinary person. (Sahi bukhari 5.20)

Comment: We find here the love and respect Ali(ra) had for Umar(ra). He considered Uma(ra) to be one of the best people after prophet(saw).

6. Ali(ra) said: If we are to mention the righteous, umar is surely first on the list. There was never any doubt that he was the voice of wisdom.(reported by At tabarani) (Biographies of the rightly guided caliphs page 156)

Comment: This statement seems to have been made after Abubakar(ra) was dead.

7. Abdullah ibn Ahmad narrated in his Sunnan(#1303):

From Salim ibn Abu Hafs: “I asked Abu Jafar and Jafar about Abu Bakr and Umar (may Allah be pleased with them). And they say: “O Salim, befriend to them, and dissolve from their enemies, indeed they were imams of guidance” And Jafar said to me: “O Salim, Abu Bakr is my grandfather, does man can abuse his grandfather? And may the intercession of Mohammad not reach me on the day of judgement, if I wouldn’t befriend with them, and wouldn’t dissolve from their enemies”

Comment: See how the Imams from Ahlebayt praised umar(ra) and dissociated themselves from the shian e dajjal because of their(shian e dajjals) hatred for Umar(ra). And the ones who said those words are considered to be as the 5th and 6th Imams of shias.

8. In his “Siyar” at page 259 Dhahabi narrated:

From AbdulJabar ibn Al-Abbas al-Hamadani: ”Jafar as-Sadiq came to them when they were leaving Madinah and told them: You are inshallah from amongst the best of people from your country (or from your Egypt)  So report to them from me: He who claims that I’m an infallible imam who must be obeyed, I disassociate myself from him and he who claims that I disassociate myself from Abu Bakr and Umar, I disassociate myself from him.” [Siyar al-A’alaam al-Nubala, vol 6, page 259] ; [Tu’oun Rafidhah al-Yaman, page 19].

9. In “Siyar” page 259 Dhahabi narrated:

وبه عن الدارقطني، حدثنا إسماعيل الصفار، حدثنا أبويحيى جعفر بن محمد الرازي، حدثنا علي بن محمد الطنافسي، حدثنا حنان بن سدير، سمعت جعفر بن محمد، وسئل عن أبي بكر وعمر، فقال: إنك تسألني عن رجلين قد أكلا من ثمار الجنة

By it by Al Daraqutni, which said: narrated Ismail el Saffar, which said: narrated Abu Yahya Ja’afar Bin Mohammad Al Razi, which said narrated Ali Bin Mohammad Al Tanafsi, which said: narrated Hanan Sadir: I heard Ja’afar Bin Mohammad and he was asked about Umar and Abu Bakr He said: “You Ask me of two Men who ate from the fruits of heaven”.

10. A Sahih narration from Ja’afar bin Muhammad al-Sadiq (rah):

بريء الله ممن تبرأ من أبي بكر و عمر

Abu Abdullah Ja’afar bin Muhammad said: “Allah has dissociated himself from those who have dissociated themselves from Abu Bakr and Umar.”

Hadith Grading: Imam al Dhahhabi (rah) said while commenting on the narration: This saying is Mutawatir(100% authentic) from Ja’afar al Sadiq, I bear witness in front of Allah that he is honest in his saying and not lying in front of anyone(Taqqiyah), may Allah increase the Rafidah in ugliness.(source “Siyar A’alam alNubalaa 6/260.” ) ; [al-Athar al-waridah ʻan A’immat al-Sunnah fi Abwab al-iʻtiqad, vol 1, page 613]

11. Ibn ‘Abbas(ra) said: The first man to be open about Islam was ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab.[ The History of the Khalifahs]

12. Abdullah ibn Abbas(ra) was asked: what have you got to say about umar: he answered: May Allah have mercy on Abu hafs(umar). I swear that he was an ally of islam, a shelter for the orphans, a residence for faith, an example of benevolence, a resort for the weak, a defender of the truth, a source of help for people. Armed with patience and seeking Allah’s reward, he strove till islam was victorious , provinces conquered, and the name of Allah(swt) mentioned on hills and landscapes. He glorified Allah in times of plenty and hardships, and was grateful to him all the time. Whoever hates him shall be doomed till Judgment day.[( quoted from Ar riyad An Nadirah) (Biographies of the rightly guided caliphs page 267)]

13. It is reported from Sufyān b. ʿUyainah that a man once asked ʿAlī b. Ḥusayn b. ʿAlī b. ʾAbī Ṭālib(rah), What was the status of Abū Bakr and ʿUmar with Rasūlullāh – Allāh’s praise and peace be upon him? He replied, Their place with him is like their place with him today (i.e. where they are in their graves). [Abū Bakr Al-Daynūrī, Al-Mujālasah wa Jawāhir Al-ʿIlm 4:254]

14.
2469
It has been narrated from Zaid ibn Ali that he said : Dissociation from Abu Bakr and Umar is dissociation from Ali.

15.

It has been narrated from Imam Baqir that he said : One who doesn’t know the superiority of Abu Bakr and Umar is ignorant of the Sunnah.

Umar(ra) was truthful and just in the view of Ahlebayt:

1. Sahi bukhari 6.435: Narrated Ibn `Abbas: For the whole year I had the desire to ask `Umar bin Al−Khattab regarding the explanation of a Verse(in Surat Al−Tahrim) but I could not ask him because I respected him very much. When he went to perform the Hajj, I too went along with him. On our return, while we were still on the way home. `Umar went aside to answer the call of nature by the Arak trees. I waited till he finished and then I proceeded with him and asked him. “O chief of the Believers! Who were the two wives of the Prophet who aided one another against him?” He said, “They were Hafsa and `Aisha.” Then I said to him, “By Allah, I wanted to ask you about this a year ago, but I could not do so owing to my respect for you.” `Umar said, “Do not refrain from asking me. If you think that I have knowledge (about a certain matter), ask me; and if I know(something about it), I will tell you.”

Comment: This narration proves that Umar(ra) was a truthful man, he didn’t try to lie or hide that the verse in which two wives of Prophet(Saw) were corrected, among them one was his own daughter.

2. Ibn Abbas(ra) said: Always mention umar for if you mention him, you mention justice; and if you mention justice, you mention Allah(swt). (quoted from Asadul Ghaabah) (Biographies of the rightly guided caliphs page 268)

3. Al fadl Ibn Abbas reports that prophet(Saw) said: After my decease, the truth shall be with umar wherever he may be”. ( reported by At tabarani and Ad dailami) (Biographies of the rightly guided caliphs page 154)

4. Similarly we read in al bidaya that when Madain was conquered and Sad ibn Waqas sent the spoils and other things to the Muslims at Madinah

Umar looked at it and said that the nation has sent these things, so Ali ibn Abi Talib said : you treat the nation well so the nation treated you well, and if you had become careless, so the nation would also have become careless. Than Umar distributed it amongst the Muslims and Ali received a piece of carpet which he sold on twenty thousand dirham.[Al bidaya, Vol. 7, p. 67]

5. Ali(ra) states: I saw umar(ra) riding a small camel. I asked: where to, commander of the faithful? He answered one of the charity camels has fled, I rejoined. You have humiliated all your successors. He said: do not blame me, abu al hasan. If a young she-goat were to be killed on the Euphrates coast, umar would be punished for it on Judgment day. (Biographies of the rightly guided caliphs page 189)

6. Al hasan states: umar sent a message to Hudhayfah to distribute among people their livelihood. The latter wrote back saying, we did distributed it, yet plenty of money is left. Umar then wrote him saying: This is Allah’s bounty that he bestowed on them. It does not belong to Muhammad or to his household. So distribute it among the people. (Biographies of the rightly guided caliphs page 205)

7. In book of shia mutazili, Ali is reported to have said when he was asked about Fadak:
إ ن الأمر لما وصل الأمر إلى علي ابن أبي طالب كلّم في رد فدك ، فقال : ” إني لأستحيي من الله أن أرد شيئاً منع منه أبو بكر وأمضاه عمر
Ali’s reply (ra) was: “I am ashamed before Allah to overturn something that was prohibited by Abu Bakr and (same ruling was)continued by Umar.” [Sharh Nahjul balagha, Vol. 4, p. 130]

8. Hz Ali(ra) said: Allah sent prophet(saw) who saved people from deviation , saved them from destruction, then united them since they had scattered. Then he died. What responsibilities were on him he fulfilled all those, then people made abubakar(ra) the khaliph , after that abubakar(ra) referred Umar(ra) and both of them set an excellent example of best seerah, and both of these pious men established justice and fairness in the ummah.(nasikh al tawareekh, vol 3, page 231)

9. Ibn Asakir in his “Arbain fi manaqib ummahatil muminin” (#24) narrated from Ali, that prophet (Peace be upon him) said: “May Allah have mercy on Abu Bakr. He married me to his daughter, took me the the Abode of Hijrah, and freed Bilal with his own property. May Allah have mercy on Umar. He spoke the truth even if he were to suffer on account of it , and he observed the truth which made people hate him and caused his loss of friends. May Allah have mercy on Uthman. The angels are shy before him. May Allah have mercy on Ali. O Allah, make him observe the truth  wherever he goes”.  [Ibn Asakir said: “This is a al-Hasan saheeh tradition”].

10. We read in al-Kafi vol.7 pg.214:

Zurarah said: I heard abu Ja’far (as) say: ‘Ubeidullah bin ‘Umar was to be punished for drinking wine, so ‘Umar ordered that he be beaten as punishment but no one stepped up to do this task, then ‘Ali (as) stood up and hit him with a solid object forty times.
[Grading: Majlisi “Muwathathaq like Sahih.” al-Miraat 23/330].

Comment: The supposedly evil oppressor according to the Shias, punishes his own son and allows his supposed “enemy” to beat him up!

11. It has also been narrated from Hafs ibn ‘Umar, the freed slave of ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Abdullah ibn Hassan, that he said:

رأيت عبد الله بن حسن توضأ ومسح على خفيه قال فقلت له تمسح فقال نعم قد مسح عمر بن الخطاب ومن جعل عمر بينه وبين الله فقد استوثق

I saw ‘Abdullah ibn Hassan performing ablution and he made masah on his socks. I asked him, “Do you make masah?”

He replied, “Yes, because ‘Umar radiya Llahu ‘anhu made masah and the person who trusts ‘Umar radiya Llahu ‘anhu regarding matters between him and Allah, he has indeed found a great trust.”[Tarikh Dimashq 29/255.]

12. It has also been recorded in Tarikh Dimashq that Hafs ibn Qais asked ‘Abdullah ibn Hassan regarding making masah:

He replied, “Make masah, as ‘Umar ibn Khattab made masah.”

Hafs ibn Qais said, “I am asking if you make masah.”

He replied, “You would have understood that when I informed you that ‘Umar ibn Khattab made masah and you still ask for my opinion. ‘Umar alone was better than me and a world filled with the likes of me.”

I said, “O Abu Muhammad, people will say that you only say this out of Taqiyyah.”

He replied, and we were between the grave of the Rasul of Allah salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam and the pulpit of the Rasul of Allah salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, “O Allah, this is my opinion be it in secret or in public. So do not bring forth any other person’s opinion after this.”

He then said, “They think that ‘Ali was powerless and that the Rasul of Allah salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam ordered him to do certain things and he did not do it. This is a great insult to ‘Ali. It is degrading to assume that the Rasul of Allah salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam ordered him to do a certain thing and thereafter he did not do it.”[Tarikh Dimashq, 29/256.]

The braveness of Umar(ra) from the words of Ahlebayt:

Ali(ra) reports: “Never have I known anyone to have emigrated but in secret with the exception of umar. When he resolved to emigrate, he took his sword, picked up his bow, grabbed some arrows and headed for the kabah where the elite of Quraysh were. He performed the circumambulation, performed two rakahs at Abraham’s station, then stopped at each of their rings and said, Misshapened are the faces: let anyone who wants his mother to lose him, his son to be made an orphan and his wife to be widowed, meet me beyond that valley. However nobody dared take one step after him.”(reported by ibn Asaakir) (Biographies of the rightly guided caliphs page 150)

Ibn abbas(ra): When umar embraced islam, the disbelievers said, “only today have people taken vengeance on us”.(reported by Al bazaar and Al hakim) (Biographies of the rightly guided caliphs page 149)

How Ahlebayt deal with those who wanted degrade the status of Umar:

1. Abdullah ibn Ahmad ibn Hanbal narrated in his Sunnan (№1302, p 557):

حدثني أبي حدثنا أسباط عن عمرو بن قيس قال سمعت جعفر بن محمد يقول برئ الله ممن تبرأ من أبي بكر وعمر
Narrated to me my father, he said: narrated to me Asbat from Amr ibn Qays, which said: I heard Jafar ibn Muhammad saying: Allah disassociate  himself from those who disassociate themselves from Abu Bakr and Umar.[Editor of book, Muhammad al-Qahtani noticed that chain is authentic. Dhahabi in “Siyar alamun nubala” (6/260) said: “This saying of Jafar is mutawater”.]

2. Ali [ra] said :

“I will lash anyone who prefers me over Abu Bakr and Umar, the lashing of a slanderer.” [Lisan al-Mizan, Vol. III P. 290]

3.

In the Khutbah of Ali on the Mimbar of Kufah he said: “it had reached me that some folks have preferred me over Abu Bakr and Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) Whoever says anything of the sort is a slanderer and his punishment will be that of a slanderer. The best of people after the Prophet PBUH was Abu Bakr and then Umar, Then things happened after them in which it is for Allah to pass his judgement.

Muhaddiths are al Hakami in Ma’arij al Qubool and al Bayhaqi in Al I’itiqad.
Hadith rank: Famous, was narrated from him through countless chains and has many Shawahid.

Comment: Ahlbayt warned those who preferred Ali(ra) to be superior to Umar(ra), and They said that those people would be punished if they do so.

4.Then some people from Iraq entered upon him (Al-Imam Zayn Al-Abideen Ali bin Al-Hussain) and said some bad things about Abu Bakr, Umar, and Uthman. When they were done, Ali bin Al-Hussain told them, ‘Tell me, Are you the (Muhajirs, those who were expelled from their homes and their property, while seeking Grace from Allah and (His) Good Pleasure, and aiding Allah and His Messenger: such are indeed the sincere ones)? They answered, ‘No!’ Then Ali bin Al-Hussain said, ‘So, are you (those who, before them, had homes (in Medina) and had adopted the Faith, show their affection to such as came to them for refuge, and entertain no desire in their hearts for things given to the (latter), but give them preference over themselves, even though poverty was their (own lot))?’ They answered, ‘No!’ Ali bin Al-Hussain said, ‘Therefore, you disassociated yourselves from being one of these two groups and I bear witness that you are not the ones (who came after them say: “Our Lord! Forgive us, and our brethren who came before us into the Faith, and leave not, in our hearts, rancor (or sense of injury) against those who have believed. Our Lord! Thou art indeed Full of Kindness, Most Merciful.”) Get out of here, may Allah curse you!” Kashf Al-Ghummah, vol. 2, p. 291, under the subtitle of “Virtues of Al-Imam Zayn Al-Abideen”]

5. The hadeeth
“A group of Christians came to ‘Alee ( رضي لله عنه ) and at the head of them was a major scholar of the Jews. So the leader said: “You debate about how many groups the Jews split into?” He said: “Into seventy one sects”. And ‘Alee ( رضي لله عنه ) said: “And this Ummah will split into similar to that, and the most deviated and evil sect of them: the ones who call to us (Ahlul Bayt), and a sign of them is that they insult Aboo Bakr and ‘Umar ( ”(رضي لله عنھما[Reference: Al Ibanah tul Kubra Book of Eman (book no: 1), page 375 hadeeth no: 275, chapter Mentioning the sections of the Nations in their religion and upon how many sects will the Ummah split into]

Comment: Ahlebayt pointed out that the sign of most deviated sect would be abusing of Umar(ra) along with calling towards Ahlebayt .

6. Imaam adh-Dhahabee said in his Siyaar A’laam an-Nubalaa (5/390):

قال عيسى بن يونس جاءت الرافضة زيدا فقالوا تبرأ من أبي بكر وعمر حتى
ننصرك قال بل أتولاهما قالوا إذا نرفضك فمن ثم قيل لهم الرافضة
“ ‘Eesaa bin Yoonus said: The Raafidah came to Zaid and said to him,“Free yourself from Abee Bakr and ‘Umar so that we can aid you.”He replied, “Rather I will give allegiance to them (i.e. Aboo Bakr and ‘Umar).” They said, “Then we reject you.” So then it was said to them, “ar-Raafidah” (the rejecters).”

7. Zaid bin ali bin hussain(ra) who holds an honor of very pious and respectable personality among the shias was asked by his companions about Abubakar(ra) and umar(ra) he replied: I always speak good of them and I have never heard any members of the family of the prophet speak badly of them. They have never persecuted us nor did they maltreat any other citizen. Both of them strictly followed the quran and sunnah of the prophet(Saw). Hearing this they said you are not our companion , they separated from him. He said today they have left us , from today they will be called rafidah. (shia book, Nasikh al tawaarikh vol 2, page 590.(under the heading zain ul abedin’s saying)

8. Abdullah ibn Ahmad narrated in sunnan (#1303):

From Salim ibn Abu Hafs: “I asked Abu Jafar and Jafar about Abu Bakr and Umar (may Allah be pleased with them). And they say: “O Salim, befriend to them, and dissolve from their enemies, indeed they were imams of guidance” And Jafar said to me: “O Salim, Abu Bakr is my grandfather, does man can abuse his grandfather? And may the intercession of Mohammad not reach me on the day of judgement, if I wouldn’t befriend with them, and wouldn’t dissolve from their enemies”

9. In “siyar” at page 259 Dhahabi narrated:

From AbdulJabar ibn Al-Abbas al-Hamadani:  ”Jafar as-Sadiq came to them when they were leaving Madinah and told them: You are inshallah from amongst the best of people from your country (or from your Egypt)  So report to them from me: He who claims that I’m an infallible imam who must be obeyed, I disassociate myself from him and he who claims that I disassociate myself from Abu Bakr and Umar, I disassociate myself from him.”

10.

Salim bin abi Hafsah asks the Imam about Abu Bakr and Umar: Ja’afar bin Muhammad told me: “O Salim, Abu Bakr is my grandfather, would a Man insult his own grandfather?” He (Ja’afar) also told me: ” May the intersession(Shafa’ah) of Muhammad peace be upon him never reach me on the day of judgement if I am not loyal to them and if I did not disassociate myself from their enemies”.

Ali bin abi Talib (RA) said: I was with the Prophet PBUH then Abu Bakr and Umar may Allah be pleased with them arrived so he PBUH told me: O Ali these two are the Masters of the elderly of the people of paradise and its youth after the Prophets and the messengers.

Comment: According to another narrations al Hassan(ra) and Hussein(ra) are the Masters of the youth of Paradise. However, we know from the correct and famous narrations that all Men and Women will be youth once they enter paradise and some sources says 33 years old to be specific. If everyone in heaven is youth does this mean al Hassan ad Hussein (RAA) will be the Masters of Ali (RA) and Abu Bakr (RA) for example?. What can be meant by the Hadith is that they will be the Masters of the youth from their generation and age, meaning all the young Muslim youth back at that time Or it can also be explained in this way that they are leaders of all the Muslims who died in the young age.

Similarly, Abubakar(ra) and Umar(ra) will be the Masters of the elderly people from their generation and age, meaning all the elderly Muslims back at that time, Or it can also be explained in this way that they are leaders of all the Muslims who died in the Old age. It is possible that the people of paradise will be sorted out after their judgment is done and before they enter the paradise the young and old men will be divided with their respective leaders, and after that they will be made to enter paradise where the old men will be again made young. The most important point to ponder in this narration to understand the fact that even there will be leaders for elderly people is  by looking at the specification made by Prophet(saw) i.e Hassan(ra) and Hussain(ra) will be leader for “YOUTH” of paradise, but if you see the narrations which talk about leaders of women of paradise, you will not find such specification made, because it was a general to young and elder women. But in this case since there were two types of leaders(i.e for youth and old people) that is why Prophet(Saw) specifically notified that Hassan(ra) and Hussain(ra) will be leaders over YOUTH of paradise. Which proves that there even existed some other Leaders for Old people of paradise. Otherwise why would Prophet(saw) specifically say leaders of “YOUTH” when people were already aware that every one would enter paradise after they will be made young. And Prophet(Saw) would have used also specified in similar manner when he talked about the leaders of women of paradise, he would have said that Mariam and Fatima were leaders of YOUNG women of paradise, but nothing as such was said, which proves that, those ignorants who think that the narrations which talk about Leaders of young men and leaders of elderly men are contradictory are completely wrong because these narrations when understood properly shows us that it is not a contradiction but its a CONTRADISTINCTION.

Narrated from Ali ibn abi talib(ra) that prophet (sallalahu alayhi wa salam) said: “Abu Bakr and Umar are masters of the first and last middle-aged people in heaven. (silsila as sahiha)

4. Mujahid, on the authority of Ibn Al-‘Abbas (May Allah be pleased with him) related that he had asked ‘Umar bin Al-Khattab why he had been given the epithet of Al-Farouque (he who distinguishes truth from falsehood), he replied: After I had embraced Islam, I asked the Prophet (Peace be upon him): ‘Aren’t we on the right path here and Hereafter?’ The Prophet (Peace be upon him) answered: ‘Of course you are! I swear by Allâh in Whose Hand my soul is, that you are right in this world and in the hereafter.’ I, therefore, asked the Prophet (Peace be upon him) ‘Why we then had to conduct clandestine activism. I swear by Allâh Who has sent you with the Truth, that we will leave our concealment and proclaim our noble cause publicly.’ We then went out in two groups, Hamzah leading one and I the other. We headed for the Mosque in broad daylight when the polytheists of Quraish saw us, their faces went pale and got incredibly depressed and resentful. On that very occasion, the Prophet (Peace be upon him) attached to me the epithet of Al-Farouqu.(the distinguisher between right and wrong) ( reported by Abu naeem  and Ibn Asaakir) (Biographies of the rightly guided caliphs page 147-148 ) (“Rahiq al-makhtum” page 48)

5. Ibn abbas(ra) said: When umar embraced islam, Gabriel descended on the prophet and told him, O Muhammad, all the dwellers of heaven were delighted at umar’s embracing islam. (reported by ibn Majah and Al Hakim) (Biographies of the rightly guided caliphs page 149)

6. Ibn abbas(ra): When umar embraced islam, the disbelievers said, “only today have people taken vengeance on us”.(reported by Al bazaar and Al hakim) (Biographies of the rightly guided caliphs page 149)

7. Ibn Abbas(ra) narrates: “Gabriel came to prophet(saw) and said, Give umar Allah’s greetings and tell him that his rage(when Allah is disobeyed) only boosts islam, and his satisfaction(with something said or done) asserts that it is correct” .(reported by At- tabarani). (Biographies of the rightly guided caliphs page 153)

8. Ibn Abbas(ra) reports that prophet(Saw) said: “every angel in heaven reveres umar and every devil on earth fears him”(reported by ibn Asaakir) (Biographies of the rightly guided caliphs page 154)

9. Abul Mutamir says that someone asked Ali bin Abi Talib about Abu Bakr and Umar. He replied that they are included amongst those 70 men who will come to Almighty Allah with the Prophet (s) And Musa (as) had asked them from Allah , but he gave them to Prophet (s). (kanzul amal, vol 9, page 399)

10. Abd Khair narrates from Ali that he said “the first one to enter the jannah(from companions) will be Abu Bakr and Umar. A man said “O Amir al Momineen , wil they enter the jannah even before you?” He said “By thee One who created every particle and every soul, indeed they will enter the jannah before me” (Al Kunii, By Ad Dawlabi , vol 1, page 120)(azaala al khulafa, vol1, page 317)

View of Ahlebayt regarding caliphate of Umar(ra)

1.

Ibn Asakir related that Yasar Ibn Hamzah said: When Abu Bakr got gravely ill, he appeared to people from a small window; he said to them: “O people I have decided to entrust somebody to the caliphate, are you going to accept that ?” The people said: “We accepted that O the Caliph (successor) of the Messenger of Allah.” ^Ali Ibn Abi Talib stood and said: “We will never accept other than ^Umar.” Abu Bakr said: “It will be Umar.” This was mentioned by as-Suyutiyy in the “Tarikh al-Khulafa’”.

Comment: Ahlebayt themselves wanted Umar(ra) to become Caliph.

2. When Umar was appointed the Caliph ,
Ali stood up and said : We will not agree upon anyone else in this matter except Umar.
Musannif , Kitabul Fazail
Asadul Ghaba, Vol. 4 ,p. 70
Riyadh un nadhra, Vol. 2, p. 88
Tarikh ul Khulufa, p. 61

3. Abd khair said (once)Ali(ra) while he was sitting on the minbar said: Prophet(Saw) passed away and abubakar(ra) was appointed as khalipha . He(ra) implemented his duty according to the way of prophet(Saw) and continued working according to the seerah of prophet(Saw) until he died, then umar(ra) became the khalipha, he too implemented his duty like the way prophet(saw) and abubakar(ra) did, and worked according to their seerah and died on the same way(Majmua al zawaid, vol 5, page 179).

4. We read in Kinzul Ammal
Ali(ra) said: (Abu Bakr) pointed to Umar (i.e pointed that he should be caliph) and he didn’t err in it , hence the Muslims rendered allegiance to him, and I rendered allegiance alongwith them. [Kinzul Ammal, Kitabul Fatan, Vol. 6, p. 82]

Zaid bin Yathi’i narrated: from Ali (ra) that he said: it was said to the messenger of Allah PBUH: “Who becomes Ameer/Ruler after you?” He PBUH replied: ” If you(Muslims) choose Abu Bakr (ra) you will find him to be honest, a Zahed in this life and always seeking the afterlife. If you(Muslims) choose ‘Umar (ra) you will find him honest and strong, he does not fear anyone other than Allah. If you(Muslims) choose Ali (ra) and I do not see you doing this but if you do you will find him rightly guided and he will lead you to a straight path.

6. Qais bin Mukhariqi says that he heard Ali saying while he was on the pulpit. The Prophet (s) preceeded us in death , and then Abu Bakr and then Umar, then fitnahs worried us, fitnahs came and that happened what Allah had willed.(Musnad Ahmed , vol 1, page 137) (Tabqat ibn saad, vol 9, page 89)

7. One of the most sacred shia book states:

Verily, the people who payed allegience to Abu Bakr, Umar and Uthman, have payed allegience to me based on the same principles as the allegience to them. So anyone who was present has no right to go against his pledge of allegience, and anyone who was absent has no right to oppose it. And verily shura (consultation) is only the right of the Muhajirs and the Ansar. So if they decide upon a man and declare him their imam, then it is with the pleasure of Allah. If anyone goes against this decision, then he must be persuaded to follow the rest of the people. If he persists, then fight with him for leaving that which has been accepted by the believers. And Allah shall let him wander misguided and not guide him. (Nahjul-Balaghah, Letter #6)

Similar narration is present in Bihar al anwar (32/368)(33/76), noor al thaqalayn(1/551).

Comment: This proves that Caliphate of Umar(ra) was with the pleasure of Allah according to Ahlebayt.

8. Ali went to Kufa. He left Madina at the end of the month of Rabi’ al-Akhir in 36 A H. in order to be near to Syria. His son al-Hasan wanted his father to stay in Madina and take it as the abode of the khalifate as the three Khalifs had done before him (at-Tabari, 5:171). (al awaasim min al qawaasim page 88)

Comment: Hassan(ra) wanted Ali(ra) stick to the sunnah of three(including Umar) caliphs before him. Which in other words can be said that, Hassan(ra) wanted Ali(ra) to follow Umar(ra) in that matter.

9. Shia book states:

“And When Ali PBUH saw that the Two Caliphs – I mean the first and the second, Abu bakr and Umar, That they put so much effort in spreading the word of tawheed and organizing the armies and opening the lands and they didn’t abuse their positions, So He Made peace and Gave them Baya’ah.”[ Asl al Shia wa Usooliha 124]

10.

Amro bin Sufiyan said: When Ali came on the day of Jamal he said: “O people, the Apostle of Allah did not promise us anything regarding this Imarah (Caliphate/Succession) until we saw in our own opinion that we must appoint Abu Bakr and he took a straight path then he left us, Then Abu Bakr saw it in his opinion to appoint Umar who in turn walked a straight path then he left us, Then came people who were after the Duniyah (life’s pleasures) and many things happened in which only Allah is the judge” [Ahmad and al Bayhaqi and al Mubarakfuri with good chain.]

11. Ali said that he was loyal to umar, fought in the army in which he was commander, took what umar gave him, and went out to Jihad when he ordered it. He went on to say that he also used to meet out the punishments stipulated by Allah on the orders of umar. (Biographies of the rightly guided caliphs page 342).

12.

A man from the Khawarij came to Ameer ‘Ali (ra) and said to him: “What is wrong with you, that the people disagreed on you and ‘Uthman, while they agreed on Abu Bakr and ‘Umar?” so ‘Ali answered: “The people agreed on Abu Bakr and ‘Umar when the people were me and ‘Uthman, and they disagreed on me and ‘Uthman when they were like you and your likes.”

Meaning: The Khariji man wanted to criticize ‘Uthman (ra) and ‘Ali (ra) by telling him that the people were split concerning their right to be Caliphs, on the other hand the people never differed when it came to Abu Bakr (ra) and ‘Umar (ra). So ‘Ali (ra) would reply that when people agreed on the first two Caliphs, these people were all pious companions the likes of himself and ‘Uthman (ra), and then later the people would differ on him and ‘Uthman (ra) because the people were starting to become less pious and less God fearing like the questioner himself.

13. We read in Shia book Nahjul Balagha
And a ruler was appointed upon Muslims and he raised the religion and followed the right path, till the religion placed its belly upon the earth.

We read iin Nahjul balagha manzum, which is written by renowned shia scholars, regarding this saying of Ali
When Umar became the ruler
The fitnahs ended and the religion gained strength

14. Ibn Asaakir reports on the authority of hasan: when Ali arrived in Al basrah, Ibn Al kawwaa and Qays ibn Abaad went to him and said: tell us about this situation you have found yourself in; are you going to govern a nation wherein people attack each other? Didn’t the prophet(saw) promise you anything? Please inform us, as you are honest and trustworthy about what you heard from him. He(Ali) said: Concerning being promised something by the prophet(saw), he did not do that; by Allah I was the first person to believe his message, and would not be the first to lie against him. If he had promised me that(i.e caliphate), I would not have allowed the two brothers from the family of Taym Ibn Murrah, and umar Ibn khattab to stand on his (prophet’s) pulpit; I would have fought them single handed, even if I had no helmet but this garment of mine. But the prophet(Saw) was not murdered, nor did he die suddenly. He was sick for a number of days, and the Mu’zzin used to go to him, then call people to salaah. The prophet used to ask Abubakar to lead people in salaah, while he knew my status. One of his wives wanted him to choose someone else, instead of Abubakar, but he refused, became angry and said: you were even like the women that were with Joseph. Tell abubakr to lead the people in salah. (Biographies of the rightly guided caliphs page 341-342).

 15. If we open the popular copy of Nahj-ul-Balaghah to sermon 227, we read the following title:

“About a companion who passed away from this world before the occurrence of troubles.”

`Ali says:

[May Allah reward such and such man, he straightened the curve, cured the disease, abandoned mischief, and established the Sunnah. He departed (from this world) with untarnished clothes and little shortcomings. He achieved the goodness (of this world) and remained safe from its evils. He offered Allah’s obedience and feared Him as He deserved. He went away and left the people in dividing ways wherein the misled cannot obtain guidance and the guided cannot attain certainty.] {Nahjul Balagha Sermon 227}

Magnificent, but this leaves one question… WHO IS THIS MAN?

If we refer to the oldest and most popular commentary on Nahj-ul-Balaghah, written by the Mu`tazili Shia Ibn abi al-Hadid [died. 656 AH].

Ibn abi al-Hadid says in Sharh Nahj-ul-Balaghah 12/3: “The one meant here is `Umar bin al-Khattab, I have found the original copy of Nahjul Balagha in abi al-Hasan al-Radi’s own handwriting and he wrote “`Umar” under the word “such and such”.”

He also writes: “I asked the head of the order of Ahlul-Bayt, abu Ja`far Yahya bin abi Zayd al-`Alawi (about this matter) and he said: “`Umar bin al-Khattab”, I told him: “Would the chief of believers praise him this much!?” He replied: “Yes.””

Furthermore, he said in 2/4: “If the chief of believers admitted that he departed with untarnished clothes and that he obeyed Allah and feared him, then this is the utmost praise.”

Tarikh al-Tabari 4/419:

[We were told by `Umar, we were told by `Ali, he said: Ibn Da’b and Sa`id bin Khalid told me, from Salih bin Kaysan, from al-Mughirah bin Shu`bah, he said: When `Umar died may Allah be pleased with him, the daughter of abu Hathmah cried him saying: “O `Umar, he straightened the curve, cured the disease, he buried the Fitnah and established the Sunnah. He departed (from this world) with untarnished clothes and little shortcomings.” Mughirah said: When `Umar was buried I went to `Ali as I liked to hear what he had to say about `Umar, I saw him brushing his hair and beard while being wrapped in a cloth after bathing, he had no doubt that authority would be his, he then said: “May Allah have mercy upon Ibn al-Khattab, the daughter of abi Hathmah spoke the truth for he achieved the goodness (of this world) and remained safe from its evils. By Allah, she never said it (knowing it) but she was taught it.”]

We also found it in an even earlier source, Tarikh al-Madinah by Ibn Shubah al-Numayri [died. 262 AH], He writes on 2/91:

[We were told by Muhammad bin `Abbad bin `Abbad, he said: Ghassan bin `Abdul-Hamid told us, he said: It has reached us that `Abdullah bin Malik bin `Uyaynah al-Azdi the ally of banu al-Muttalib said: When we left with `Ali may Allah be pleased with him from `Umar’s funeral, he entered his house and bathed and came out, he remained silent for a while then said: “May Allah reward the woman who grieved for `Umar’s passing, the daughter of Abu Hathmah spoke the truth when she said: O `Umar! He straightened the curve and fulfilled the oath. O `Umar! He departed (from this world) with untarnished clothes and little shortcomings. O `Umar! He established the Sunnah and abandoned mischief.” He then said: “By Allah, she didn’t know these matters but she was taught to say them and she spoke the truth. By Allah, he achieved the goodness (of this world) and remained safe from its evils; he had looked at his companion and followed the path wherever it was straight, the rider left them in dividing ways wherein the misled cannot obtain guidance and the guided cannot attain certainty.”]

16.

I read to Abi al Fihm bin Ahmed Alsalmi, Abu Ahmed Abdullah bin Ahmed the jurisprudent told you in the year 617 (AH), Abu al Fatih Muhammad bin Abd al Baqi told us, Malik bin Ahmed told us in the year 484, Ali bin Muhammad bin Abdullah al Adl dictated to us in the year 406, Abu Ali Ahmed bin Al Fadl bin Khuzaymah narrated to us, Abdullah bin Rooh narrated to us, Shabaabah narrated, Abu Bakr an Hizli narrated, from al Hassan who said: When Ali came to Basrah, Ibn al Kuwaa came to him, and Qays bin Abaad came so they said to him: Won’t you tell us about this expedition of yours, you are reigning over the ummah which is slicing at each other, the Prophet (pbuh) promised you what he promised, so he told us, and you are trustworthy regarding what you heard, he said: As for having a promise with the Prophet (pbuh) in that matter, I did not, by God if I was the first person to believe in him I will not be the first to lie about him, and if I had from the Prophet (pbuh) a promise about that matter, I would not have left the brother of bani teem bin murrah or Umar bin al Khattab to take their place on the minbar, I would have fought them with my own hands, even if by my words, but the Prophet (pbuh) was not murdered, nor did he die suddenly, he remained sick for days and nights, the caller to prayer would come to him to announce the prayer, and he would order Abu Bakr to pray as Imam for the people, and he (pbuh) saw my place, and the announcer to prayer would call to prayer, and he would command Abu Bakr to pray as imam for the people, and he (pbuh) saw my place, and one of his womenfolk wanted to distance him from Abu Bakr but he became angry and said: You are the friends of Yousef, command Abu Bakr to lead the prayer. When God took His Prophet (pbuh), we looked at our affairs, and we chose for our world who the Prophet (pbuh) chose for our religion, and the prayer was the root of Islam, and the most important matter, and the pillar of the religion. So we gave the pledge of allegiance to Abu Bakr, and he deserved that, and not even two among us disagreed about that, nor did we bear witness against each other, nor did we accuse him of anything, so I gave Abu Bakr his rights, and I obeyed him, and I fought alongside his soldiers, and I used to take if he gave me, and fight if he commanded me, and by his command reach the borders, and when he died, he passed the responsibility to Omar, and he took by the sunnah of his friend, and he was indistinguishable from him, so we gave him the pledge of allegiance, nor did two of us disagree on the matter, nor did we bear witness against each other, nor did we accuse him of anything. So I gave Omar his rights, and I obeyed him, and I fought alongside his armies, and I took if he gave me, and fight if he commanded me, and by his command reach the borders and when he died I remembered my close relations [to the Prophet (pbuh)] and precedence and predecessor-ship and virtues, and I felt nobody was equal to me, but it was feared that a Khalifah would not be able to commit a sin except that it would follow him to the grave, and that it would remove him and his sons from it, and if it were favoritism he would have inherited it to his son but he didn’t allow his son to take it and left the matter to the decision of 6 from Quraysh, I was one of them, and when the 6 got together I remembered my close relations [to the Prophet (pbuh)] and precedence and predecessor-ship and virtues, and I thought they would not be fair to me, so Abdulrahman took a promise from us that we would listen and obey to whoever God put as our leader for our affairs, so he took the hand of Ibn Affan and hit his hand against his hand, so I looked at my affair, and my obedience had preceded my allegiance, and my covenant was given to someone other than me, so we gave the pledge of allegiance to Uthman, and I gave him his rights, and I obeyed him, and I fought in his armies, and I took if he gave me, and fight if he commanded me, and by his command reach the borders  And when he was injured I looked at my condition, and the two Khalifahs who had taken leadership by the promise of the Prophet (pbuh) to them in prayer had passed away, and the one who had been given the covenant was injured, so the people of Meccah and Medina gave me the pledge of allegiance, and the people of Egypt, So they said: So tell us about your fighting these two men, meaning Talha and Zubair. He said: They gave me the pledge of allegiance in Medina, but then left their allegiance in Basrah, and if any man who had pledged allegiance to Abu Bakr and Omar had left their allegiance they would have fought them.

[And al Jariri narrated like it, from Abi Nadra

This report even if supposedly turns out to be weak from its chain, even then its text is considerable and thought provoking.

Comment: These reports prove that Ahlebyat wholeheartedly accepted the caliphate of Umar(ra) and considered it to be completely legal. It also proves that Umar(ra) ruled in the light of Quran and Sunnah, unlike  shian e dajjal accuse Umar(ra) of being an innovator. This even proves that Ali(ra) wasn’t divinely appointed as Caliph from Allah, which is even proved from Nahjul balagha.

Shias say that Ali , under pressure, gave allegiance to Abu Bakr, Umar and Uthman. This concept can’t be accepted, because we read in the Quran[004:097] When angels take the souls of those who die in sin against their souls, they say: “In what (plight) Were ye?” They reply: “Weak and oppressed Were we in the earth.” They say: “Was not the earth of God spacious enough for you to move yourselves away (From evil)?” Such men will find their abode in Hell,- What an evil refuge!

The tafsir on the Shia website, by Poya , on this verse says:”If the proper observation of the obligations of the faith is not possible in the land of one’s birth and dwelling, one can migrate to some other place on Allah’s wide and spacious earth.” Tafsir by Poya Mehdi

So it was incumbent upon Ali and others to have moved to another land, if indeed he was oppressed. Rather he was supposedly (according to the Shias) the Imam, and Imam himself (even if under pressure) gave allegiance to the three caliphs, and lived (according to the Shias) under taqiyah, and even defended their caliphate by participating in the wars alongwith them (as we have proved and we will give further proofs inshaAllah) and took their share from the spoils which the armies of the caliphs received, and gave them advises on various occasions, and marriages happened between the children of sahaba (whom the Shias despice) and the children of ahlel bayt.

Ahlebayt during the Caliphate of Umar

1. According to ibn katheer: Jerusalem adamantly refused to give in to the blockade for a long time. Eventually they agreed to conclude a peace settlements with muslims provided that the commander of the faithful comes to the city in person. When umar learned of their request, he consulted muslims as to whether it would be a good idea for him to head for Jerusalem. Uthman(ra) was of the view that caliph should not do so in order to demean them and force them to give in. Conversely Ali(ra) advised him to head for Jerusalem as this would booast muslims morale who had rigorously besieged the city. Umar was included to follow Ali’s opinion. That was why he appointed him to be in charge of Madina while he was away and set out for Jerusalem, accompanied by Al Abbas ibn Abdul Mutalib. (Biographies of the rightly guided caliphs page 241)

2. Umar(ra) gave Ali(ra) land.

We read in Musannaf ibn abi Shaybah a narration with an authentic chain to Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (rah):

حدثنا حفص بن غياث عن جعفر عن أبيه أن عمر أقطع عليا ينبع وأضاف إليها غيرها.

[Hafs bin Ghiyah told us, from Ja`far bin Muhammad al-Sadiq, from his father that `Umar gave away (the land of) Yanbu` to `Ali and then added others(lands) to it.]

Comment: In other words he gave him a vast and priceless piece of land as prize!

Similarly we read:

Ja`far bin Muhammad from Muhammad al-baqir that `Umar ibn al-Khattab(ra) gave `Ali bin abi Talib(ra) – the land of Yanbu`, then `Ali bin abi Talib(ra) – also bought other things on top of it, and he dug a well in it, and while they were digging in it a great amount of water started gushing out from the ground, so `Ali returned and told them the good news. (Sunan al-Beihaqi al-Kubra).

3. When the people of Syria asked Umar for help against the people of Palestine, he made appointed Ali as the ruler (in his absense)

When Umar went to Palestine , he appointed Ali as his vizier.

Comment: We find that how much trust and faith Umar(ra) had in Ali(ra) , that is why he made Ali(ra) as caliph of madina in his absence. Umar(ra) didn’t make Uthman(ra) as caliph . Whatelse honest and sane people need to acknowledge the great bonding of relationship between Umar(ra) and Ahlebayt?

4.

Muhammad bin Abdur Rahman narrated from his father that he heard Ali saying : I went to the Prophet (s) and said to him : O Messenger of Allah, if you appoint me over the distribution of the part of khumus which is our right in your life, then it will be good so that no one can quarrel with us after you. He said : Then the Prophet (s) appointed me in his life , after him , I would distribute it in the time of Abu Bakr also, then I would distribute it in the time of Umar also, till the end of his life, when a large amount of khumus was received , thus he separated the part which was our right and sent to us a person and said that you take it and distribute it. I said : O Amir ul Momineen , we are not in need of it now (our condition is better now), and other Muslims are in need of it. Then he took it back (to the baitul maal) for them (i.e the needies).
[Kitab al Khiraj, chapter qasmatul ghanaim, p. 20, published in Egypt.
A similar tradition is present in Abu Daud, Kitabul Khiraj, Vol 2, p. 61
Masnad Ahmad, Vol. 1, p. 84]

Similarly we read:

‘Ali ibn abi Talib (ra) narrates: al-‘Abbas, Fatima, Zaid and myself have all gathered in the prophet’s SAWS house, al-‘Abbas asked the Prophet SAWS: “O Prophet of Allah, I have become a man of old age and my bones and health have become weak, so if you can provide me with such and such and some food then do so.” He SAWS said: “I will.” then Fatima may Allah be pleased with her said: “O Prophet of Allah, you know of my relation to you, so if you see that you can provide me with the same things you provided your uncle then do so.” and he did what she said, then Zaid ibn Harithah asked: “O Prophet of Allah, in the past you had given me a piece of land where I could live and then you took it away from me, so if you see that you can return it then do so.” and he did, I (‘Ali) said: “Me O prophet of Allah, if you see fit to make me in charge of our right from the Khums which is in the book of Allah so that I may divide it in your life and no one would dispute it with me after you.” so he did, Then he SAWS turned towards al-‘Abbas and said: “O abu al-Fadl, will you not ask of me the same thing as your nephew?” and he replied: “No O prophet of Allah, my need is only what I have asked.” So the Prophet SAWS made me in charge of it and I divided it during his life and then Abu Bakr may Allah be pleased with him made me in charge of it during his days and I divided it during his life and after him ‘Umar may Allah be pleased with him made me in charge of it and I divided it, then in the last year of his rule he obtained a great amount of wealth and he saved us our share and sent after me and told me: “This is your money so take it and divide it the way you used to.” so I (‘Ali) replied to him and said: “O chief of believers! we do not need such an amount this year and the Muslims are in need of this money so offer it to them for this year.”[ Musnad Ahmad, Musannaf ibn abi Shaybah, Sunan al-Beihaqi ; Grading: SAHIH].

Comment:We find that Ahlebayt were in a good financial condition in the caliphate of Umar(ra).

5. Some times Sayyiduna ‘Ali did not personally join the armies on their expeditions, but he duly received his share of the spoils of war. Abu Ubayd has recorded that Sayyiduna ‘Umar fixed Sayyiduna ‘Ali’s share at 5000 dirhams, and gave both his sons Hasan and Husayn a similar share of 5000. (“al-Amwal” p. 237)

6. When , in the era of Umar, it was decided to pay the nobles of Islam , a certain amount of money/stipend, so as to better their financial situation, we read:

و فرض لأبناء البدريين ألفين ألفين إلا حسنا و حسينا فإنه ألحقهما بفريضة أبهما لقرابتهما برسول الله صلى الله عليه و سلم
And two thousand dirham for the sons of the Sahaba who participated in Badr, except Hasan and Hussain, for whom it was equal to their father (i.e five thousand dirham like other sahaba of Badr) because they were close in relation to the Prophet (s)
Tabaqat ibn Sad, Vol. 3, p. 313
Kitabul Khiraj, p. 43
Futuhul Buldan, p. 454

7.

Abu Bakr would send the produce of Fadak to Ahlel bayt, as much was enough for them , and would distribute the rest (amongst the needies) , and same did Umar, and after him, Uthman, and after him Ali. [Sharh nahjul balagha, Ibn Abil hadeed shia mutazili, Vol. 2 ,p. 292]

It has also been recorded by Ibn Maitham in his sharh of nahjul balagha and Ibrahim ibn al Haji’s sharah of Nahjul balagha, named Durr al najafia , and Faizul Islam Ali Naqi in his sharh of Nahjul balagha
Sharh nahjul balagha, ibn maitham, Vol. 5, p. 107
Durr al najafia, Sharh nahjul balagha, p. 332
Sharh Nahjul balagha, by Faizul Islam Ali Naqi, Vol. 5, p. 920

8. We read in al bidaya that when Madain was conquered and Sad ibn Waqas sent the spoils and other things to the Muslims at Madinah

9. Similarly we read in Musannif that this was how Umar started distributing it amongst the Muslims

First he called upon Hasan bin Ali and gave him his share, and than he called upon Hussain and than he started giving it to other people.
Musannif , Vol. 11, p. 100

10. Similarly it has been recorded in the books that Umar also gave a piece of land to Ali

11. The mother of Umar ibn Ali(who was son of Ali) and Ruqayya bint Ali is Umm Habib bint Rabiya, and her name is Suhba, she was received as a war captive in the battle against Bani Taghlab.

Tabaqat ibn Sad, Vol. 5, p. 86
Nasb Quraish p. 42
Futuhul Buldan, p. 117

It has been mentioned in Shia books also.

Ummadatut Talib, p. 361
Sharh Nahjul Balagha , Ibn Hadeed shia mutazili, Vol. 2, p. 718

12. We read in the famous Shia book , Qurbul Asnad
In the era of Abu Bakr, Umar and Uthman, the Hudood cases were dealt by Ali ibn Abi Talib. [Qurbul Asnad, p. 133]

13. When ‘Umar ibn al-Khattaab (may Allaah be pleased with him) set up the registry of stipends, he wrote  down people’s names according to their lineage, so he started with those who were closest in lineage to the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), When he had finished listing the Arabs, he listed the non-Arabs. This is how the registry was at the time of the Rightly-Guided Caliphs, and all the caliphs of the Umayyad and ‘Abbaasid dynasties, until things changed after that. (Iqtida’ al-Siraat al-Mustaqeem, p. 159, 160)

14.

It has been narrated from katheer un nawwal that he said : I said to Abu Jafar : May Allah give me the honor to be sacrificed for you, did Abu Bakr and Umar oppressed you regarding your rights? or said : Did they spoilt any of your rights? He said: No, by the One who revealed the Holy Quran on his servant, they didn’t oppressed us regarding our rights a bit. I said : May I be sacrificed on you, should I keep them close? He said, Yes, keep them close to yourself in this world and the hereafter, and if it creates any trouble for you, than it shall be on my throat. Than he said : May Allah give Mughaira and Banan the same reward which they deserve, they lie on us Ahlel bayt.[Sharh Nahjul balagha, by Ibn Abil hadeed shia mutazili, Vol. 4, p. 113]

15. Ali(ra) acted as deputy of Umar(ra) for three times in only four years

14 H. Umar(ra) goes out of Madinah and appoints Ali(ra) as his deputy.
Al bidaya 7/42

15 H. Umar(ra) goes to Palestine and appoints Ali(ra) as his deputy
Al bidaya 7/65

17 H. Umar(ra) goes out of Madinah and appoints Ali(ra) as his deputy
Tibri 2/489

Comment: This is how Ahlebayt led their life during the caliphate of Umar(ra), only a fool could believe in stories(fabrications) of shiatu dajjal, that on one hand Umar(ra) used to OPENLY oppress Ahlebayt and torture them and on other hand used to honor them and care for them. Except brainless creatures no one can believe in these fabricated allegations.

According to Ahlebayt Umar(ra) used to follow sunnah of Prophet(saw)

1.

Abd khair said (once)Ali(ra) while he was sitting on the minbar, said: Prophet(Saw) passed away and abubakar(ra) was appointed as khalipha . He(ra) implemented his duty according to the way of prophet(Saw) and continued working according to the seerah of prophet(Saw) until he died, then umar(ra) became the khalipha, he too implemented his duty like the way prophet(saw) and abubakar(ra) did, and worked according to their seerah and died on the same way(Fadhail Sahaba by Imam Ahmed, Rijaal Thiqaat ; Majmua al zawaid, vol 5, page 179).

(2). Ali(ra) said regarding Abubakr(ra) : Of all people, you were the best companion of the Messenger of Allah(saw); you possessed the best qualities; you had the best past; you ranked highest; you were closest to him. And of all people you resembled the Messenger of Allah(saw) the most in terms of his guidance and demeanor…And a truly good successor you proved to be when the people apostatized. You did what no other Khaleefah of a Prophet did before you. You stood up firmly and bravel when his other companions lost their resolve and became soft. And when they became weak, you adhered to the methodology of the Messenger of Allah(saw). You truly were as the Messenger of Allah(saw) said: Weak in your body, but strong regarding commands of Allah…You have always been a protector, a sanctuary, and source of honor for this religion…May Allah not lead us astray after you.(At-Tabsirah, by Ibn Jawzee, vol 1, pages 477-479 and Ashaab Ar-Rasool, vol 1, page 108). [Also refer:The Biography of Abu Bakr As-Siddeeq, Ali Sallabi. Pg 736-738]

(3). Ali(ra) said: The Messenger of Allaah appointed Abu Bakr to lead the believers in their prayers for the last nine days of the Prophet’s life and he died without recalling him. The believers, subsequently, made him responsible for their affairs, and gave him their Zakaah. They willingly pledged allegiance to him and I am the first person from Banu ‘Abd al-Muttalib to confirm his leadership. He(abubakr) disliked leadership and wished that one of us would take his place. By Allaah, he was the best of those who remained after the Prophet ; the eldest, the kindest, and truly the most compassionate and pious. He was like angel Mikaaeelalayhi salam in his benevolence and Prophet Ibraaheem alayhi salam in his willingness to forgive and his dignified bearing. He took the path of the Prophet and passed away on that path (may Allaah have mercy on him)….So who among you can be compared to the two of them(Abubakr and Umar) May Allaah’s mercy be on them, and may Allaah provide us with the ability to continue in their paths. Let whoever loves me, love them, for whoever does not love them has angered me, and I will have nothing to do with him. If I hear anymore derogatory talk about the two of them, I will punish the offenders severely. After today, whoever is brought before me will get the punishment of a slanderer. Verily, the best of this nation after its Prophet is Abu Bakr and ‘Umar . Then Allaah knows best who is the best. I am saying this asking Allaah’s forgiveness for both you and myself.”

[ Taken From “The Devils Deception”, A translation of “Tablees Iblees” of Ibn al-Jawzee, Edited and translated by Dr. Abu Ameenah Bilal Philips]

A similar text in other book says:

[…I heard `Ali say: “Allah took the soul of his Prophet (saws) while being the best that a prophet can be.” He praised him and said: “After that, Abu Bakr received successor-ship, so he followed the way and example of the Prophet (saws), then Allah took his soul while being the best anyone can be, so he was the best of this nation after its Prophet (saws). After that, `Umar received successor-ship, so he followed their way and example, then Allah took his soul while being the best that anyone can be, so he was the best of this nation after its Prophet (saws) and Abu Bakr.”]

(4). We read in the book “Ali ibn Abi Talib by Ali M Sallabi”:

Ali said: Who do you know who is like them(Abubakr and Umar)? May Allah have mercy on them, and may Allah help us to follow their path. No one can attain what they attained except by following in their footsteps and loving them. So whoever loves me, let him love them;whoever does not love them hates me, and I have nothing to do wih him. (Ali ibn Abi Talib, by Dr. Ali M Sallabi, vol 1, page 390)

(5). In At-tuyuriyyaat, jafar ibn muhamad reports on the authority of his father that a man said to Ali: We hear you say in your khutbah: O Allah! Grant us righteousness through the means you granted it to the rightly- guided caliphs; who are these caliphs? Ali’s eyes became wet with tears, and he said: The are my beloved ones, abubakr and umar the exemplars of guidance, the sheikhs of Islam, the two notables of the tribe of Quraysh who deserved to be followed after the death of the prophet(saw). He who followed them is safeguarded, and anyone who treads their path is guided to the path of righteousness. A person who clings to them becomes a members of Allah’s party. (Biographies of the rightly guided caliphs page 344)

(6). The conditions of peace between Hasan and Muawiya are described.

In the name of Allah , the beneficent, the most Merciful. These are the conditions of peace between Hasan bin Ali bin Abi Talib and Muawiya bin Abi Sufyan. The first condition is that you should follow Quran , Sunnah and the seerah of the righteous Caliphs. [Jila ul Ayun, Page 232]

Same thing is also present in Ibn `Aqil, al-Nasa’ih al-Kafiya, p. 156.

Al-Majlisi, Bihar al-Anwar, vol. 10, p. 115.

Similar thing is also present in Kashful ghummah:

سم الله الرحمان الرحيم هذا ما صالح عليه الحسن بن على بن أبي طالب معاوية بن أبي سفيان صالحه على أن يسلم إليه ولاية أمر المسلمين على ان يعمل فيهم بكتاب الله تعالى وسنة رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم وسيرة الخلفاء الراشدين

Ali bin Esa Al-Arbili , Kashaful Ghumma vol. 2, p. 45

Comment: This is a very crucial condition made by hassan(ra) which needs to be pondered over, Hassan(ra) put one of the condition before Muawiya(ra) which stated that he should follow, Quran , sunnah and seerah of righteous caliphs. But the shian e dajjal accuse the 3 righteous caliphs as being innovators and they accuse them of not ruling by Quran and sunnah. So now if what shias say was correct, then why would Hassan(ra) mention that the seerah(biography) of righteous caliph is to be followed ALONG WITH QURAN AND SUNNAH ? Doesn’t this sounds like an oxymoron? If the 3 righteous caliphs rule against what Quran and sunnah teaches then why did Hassan(ra) include them in his condition along with Quran and sunnah? Doesn’t this seems to be two contradictory conditions at one place? But the fact is that this condition itself establishes the reality before unbiased and honest people that neither the 3 righteous caliphs ruled against Quran and sunnah nor were they innovators. That is why hassan(ra) included them to be followed along with Quran and sunnah.

7. Hz ali(ra) said:After prophet(Saw) the muslims from their community elected two Ameers(leaders) who were righteous and pious men. Thus these two people used to practice according to Quran and Sunnah. And their seerah and character was excellent. They didn’t exceed from sunnat- e- nabwi(saw). And they died in the same condition. May Allah shower his mercy on both of them( sharh nahjul balagha by mutazili shia ibn hadeed, vol 2, page 35) (nasikh al tawareekh, vol 3,page 289)

8. Imam Muslim narrated in “Sahih” (Book 017, Number 4231): Hudain b. al-Mundhir Abu Sasan reported: I saw that Walid was brought to Uthmin b. ‘Affan as he had prayed two rak’ahs of the dawn prayer, and then he said: I make an increase for you. And two men bore witness against him. One of them was Humran who said that he had drunk wine. The second one gave witness that he had seen him vomiting. Uthman said: He would not have vomited (wine) unless he had drunk it. He said: ‘Ali, stand up and lash him. ‘Ali said: Hasan, stand up and lash him. Thereupon Hasan said: Let him suffer the heat (of Caliphate) who has enjoyed its coolness. (‘Ali felt annoyed at this remark) and he said: ‘Abdullah b. Ja’far, stand up and flog him, and he began to flog him and ‘Ali counted the stripes until these were forty. He (Hadrat ‘Ali) said: Stop now, and then said: Allah’s Apostle (may peace be upon him) gave forty stripes, and Abu Bakr also gave forty stripes, and Umar gave eighty stripes, and all these fall under the category of the Sunnab, but this one (forty stripes) is dearer to me.

Comment: Imam Nawawi said “This narration is manifest proof that Ali (r.a) honoured the actions and commandments of Umar and Abu Bakr by acknowledging their actions as a Sunnah, contrary to the lies which the shias ascribe to him. The benefits from this authentic report are:

1- ‘Ali did not claim that ‘Umar did a “Bida’ah” because of the Hadith we posted above, he said “All of them are Sunnah”.
2- ‘Ali did not say “Forty is correct and eighty is wrong” he said “This one(forty) is what I prefer the most.”

9. Sahi bukhari 2.79: Narrated Ibn `Abbas: I offered the `Id prayer with Allah’s Apostle, Abu Bakr, `Umar and `Uthman and all of them offered the prayer before delivering the Khutba.

10. Zaid bin ali bin hussain(ra) who holds an honor of very pious and respectable personality among the shias was asked by his companions about Abubakar(ra) and umar(ra) he replied:I always speak good of them and I have never heard any members of the family of the prophet speak badly of them. They have never persecuted us nor did they maltreat any other citizen. Both of them strictly followed the quran and sunnah of the prophet(Saw). (shia book, Nasikh al tawaarikh vol 2, page 590.(under the heading zain ul abedin’s saying)

Umar(ra) was not egoistic nor was stubborn and used to accept the opinions of Ali(ra) :

1. Abu dawood Book 38, Number 4385: Narrated Ali ibn AbuTalib:  Ibn Abbas said: A lunatic woman who had committed adultery was brought to Umar. He consulted the people and ordered that she should be stoned. Ali ibn AbuTalib passed by and said: What is the matter with this (woman)? They said: This is a lunatic woman belonging to a certain family. She has committed adultery. Umar has given orders that she should be stoned.  He said: Take her back. He then came to him and said: Commander of the Faithful, do you not know that there are three people whose actions are not recorded: a lunatic till he is restored to reason, a sleeper till he awakes, and a boy till he reaches puberty?  He said: Yes. He then asked: Why is it that this woman is being stoned?  He said: There is nothing. He then said: Let her go. He (Umar) let her go and began to utter: Allah is most great.  I another version the wordings are : Ali(ra) said: Someone might have done this action with her when she suffered the fit of lunacy. Umar said: I do not know.

2. muawatta Book 42, Number 42.1.2:  Yahya related to me from Malik from Thawr ibn Zayd ad−Dili that Umar ibn al−Khattab asked advice about a man drinking wine. Ali ibn Abi Talib said to him, “We think that you flog him for it with eighty lashes. Because when he drinks, he becomes intoxicated, and when he becomes intoxicated, he talks confusedly, and when he talks confusedly, he lies.” (80 lashes is the same amount as for slandering) Umar gave eighty lashes for drinking wine.

3. Ibn abbas(ra) narrates: Uyaynah ibn Hisn Ibn Hudhayfah called on his nephew, al har ibn qays. He was one of those people whom umar condemned. Scholars of the quran were members of umar’s consultative council, be they old or young. Uyaynah said to his nephew: O nephew, umar is pleased with you, so ask his permission that I talk to him. Al har replied, I will. Ibn Abbas proceeds: Al har requested umar’s permission for his uncle, and umar did grant him that. When  uyaynah walked in on umar he said: P ibn khattab , I swear by Allah your offerings are not generous, and your judgment is not just, umar was enraged and he was about to punish him, when al har told him: O ccommander of the faithful, Allah exalted be he, said to his prophet(Saw) “Hold to fogiveness; command what is right; but turn away from the ignorant (Al araf: 199)” He is one of the ignorant. I swear by Allah, no sooner did umar listen to the verse, than he stopped. Umar never plunged into action upon listening to the Glorious quran. (Biographies of the rightly guided caliphs page 206)

4. It is related that for a period of time, umar never depended on the treasury himself or his household, until he was affected with poverty. He therefore sought the counsel of the companions of the prophet(saw). He said: I have thought about this, So how much amount I’m allowed to take? Ali answered: Enough to buy you lunch and dinner. Umar hence acted upon Ali’s counsel. (Biographies of the rightly guided caliphs page 203)

5. (Biographies of the rightly guided caliphs page 241).

6. Ibn Abdul Barr said:
وعن عمر أنه لقي رجلا فقال : ما صنعت ؟ قال : قضى علي وزيد بكذا ، قال : لو كنت أنا لقضيت بكذا ، قال : فما منعك والأمر إليك ؟ قال : لو كنت أردك إلى كتاب الله أو إلى سنة نبيه صلى الله عليه وسلم لفعلت ، ولكني أردك إلى رأي ، والرأي مشترك ، فلم ينقض ما قال علي وزيد .
It is narrated from Umar that he met a man and asked: What happened to your affair? He said: Ali and Zaid gave me this verdict (on that issue). Umar said: If I would give a verdict it would be different. He said: Caliphate is yours what is the issue then? Umar said: If I had clear evidence from Quran and sunnah of Prophet peace be upon him, I would do that but I haven’t, I only have my opinion and all the opinions are same. (Ibn Abdul Barr said) He did not Invalidate the opinion of Ali and Zaid. [Jam`e Byan wal Ilm page 854]

7. We read Shia book in al-Kafi vol.7 pg.214 under the chapter “What is required as punishment for the one who drinks”

Yunus from abu Baseer from abu ‘Abdullah (as): I asked him: “How did the Prophet (SAWS) used to whip?” He (as) said: “They would hit him with their boots and increase more if he drinks more until he (SAWS) stopped at eighty, ‘Ali (as) advised ‘Umar to do so and he accepted it.” [Grading: Majlisi “Sahih” 23/329].

8. We read in Shia book Al-Kafi:

‘Abdul-Rahman al-‘Arzami said: I heard abu ‘Abdullah (as) say: During the emirate of ‘Umar, they found a man (sleeping) with another man, so one of the two managed to run away and the other was caught, they then brought him to ‘Umar who said to the people: “What do you think we should do?” so one man said: “Do so and so” and another said: “Do so and so”, so ‘Umar said: “What do you think O abu al-Hassan?” ‘Ali replied: “Strike his neck” then ‘Umar did so.[al-Kafi 7/199 ; Majlisi said “Sahih” in al-Miraat 23/304].

Comment: From these reports we find that Umar(ra) used to respect Ali(ra) a lot. He used to accept the decisions or suggestions of Ali(ra) which Ali(ra) used to give to Umar(ra). He never behaved in an egoistic manner, whenever Umar(ra) used to make an error in judgement, Ali(ra) used to correct him, and Umar(ra) used to acknowledge that. Now this was the nature of humblesness of Umar(ra). So how could it be possible that Umar(ra) innovated certain things in religion and Ali(ra) kept quiet? Because shian e dajjal accuse Umar(ra) for making changes in the religion of Islam, But had this been the truth then Ali(ra) would have surely stopped Umar(ra), but we don’t anything of such kind in the book of Ali(ra)(Nahjul balagha, which was attributed to Ali by shias). On the contrary we find reports that whenever Umar(ra) used to make error Ali(ra) used to correct it and Umar(ra) used to accept that decision , he didn’t behave in egoistic or stubborn manner.

How umar(ra) lead his life during his Caliphate , according to Ahlebayt

1. Al husayn narrates: Uthmaan ibn abu al aas married one of umar al khattabs widows and said: I swear by Allah it is not because I am interested in money or offspring that I have married her, but because I would like her to tell me how umar used to spend his nights. ( reported by at tabarani) (Biographies of the rightly guided caliphs page 170)

Comment: Al hafiz ibn katheer speaks of umar’s nights saying: umar would lead people in the Isha prayer, then go home and continue to pray till dawn.

2. Ibn Abbas(ra) reports: Umar(ra) asked me to go to him, which I did. There was spread in front of him a leather carpet all covered with gold. He said, Go ahead and distribute this money among your people. Allah has kept such treasures away from his prophet(saw) and from abubakar and gave it to me, Only he knows best whether it is a blessing or a curse? I fell to distributing it and separating shares, Yet I(ibn abbas) heard a man weep. It turned out to be umar weeping and saying: I swear by him in whose hands my soul is, Allah has not kept this from prophet or from abubakar by way of affliction nor did he give it to umar by way of a blessing.(reported by ibn saad) (Biographies of the rightly guided caliphs page 188-189)

5. Abdullah ibn Abbas was asked: what have you got to say about umar: he answered: May Allah have mercy on Abu hafs(umar). Whoever hates him shall be doomed till Judgment day.( quoted from Ar riyad An Nadirah) (Biographies of the rightly guided caliphs page 267)

6. Al Abbas ibn Abdul Mutalib(ra) said: I was umar(ra)’s neighbour. Never have I seen anyone better than umar, He would spend all night praying and all day fasting and fulfilling people’s needs.(reported by As siyooti) (Biographies of the rightly guided caliphs page 268)

7. Umar was interested in knowing what people thought of his assassination. That is why he asked ibn abbas to ask muhajireen and Ansar about what had befallen him. Ibn abbas went out and did as umar asked him to. People said: we swear that we wish Allah would take years of our lives and add them to his. It is also reported that whenever ibn abbas passed by people, he found them weepig, as if each had lost his eldest child. Ibn abbas remarks: I saw signs of joy on umar’s face.(i.e when he learned of that). (Biographies of the rightly guided caliphs page 261)

8. Hasan ibn Ali recounts how, once, when Umar entered his(umar) son’s house, he found some meat there and asked how it came to be there. His son, Abdullah said that he had felt an urge to eat some meat that day. “So, everything that you have an urge for, you eat, do you?” asked Umar. then admonishing his son, he said, “A man has to do no more than partake of everything he desires to be counted among the extravagant.” [ Kanz Al Ummal, Pg 246, An Islamic treasury of virtues by Maulana Wahiduddin Khan]

Comment: These were few reports from members of Ahlebayt , describing the way Umar(ra) led his life during his caliphate. You will find that how simple life Umar(ra) lead, from the view of Ahlebayt. If Umar(ra) would have been greedy person(mazallah), that is why had become caliph, then he would have led the life as a king with all luxuries. But all these accusations have no base at all, they are just baseless accusations of shian e dajjal, which are refuted by few reports we brought here from the life of Umar(ra) during his caliphate.

Virtues of Ahlebayt narrated by Umar

1. Umar ibn Khataab narrated: Prophet, sallalahu alayhi wa salam, said to Ali, radi Allahu anh) “Would u like to be for me, like Haroon to Moosa?” (“Al Azhar” #103, p 281 of suyuti).

2. Umar(ra) narrated that prophet (sallalahu alaihi wa ala alihihi wa sallam) said: “To whom I am mawla, Ali is his mawla” (“Al Azhar” #102, p 277 of suyuti).

3. Umar(ra) narrated that Prophet (sallalahu alaihi wa ala alihi wa salam) said: “Al-Hasan and al-Husayn are the masters of the youths of paradise“( Tabarani in “al-Kabir” 2598.) (Al Azhar p 286, #105 of suyuti).

Comment: If at all Umar(ra) used to hate Ahlebayt then why would he narrate these virtues of Ahlebayt? Think about it O misguided ones, before its too late for you. Only shiatu dajjal can accuse Umar(ra) for possessing hatred towards ahlebayt after seeing these virtues of Ahlebayt narrated by Umar(ra).

The love umar(ra) had for Ahlebayt

1. Jabir said that he heard umar(ra) say on the pulpit when he married umm kulthum, the daughter of Ali(ra) and faatimah(ra): “Do not disparage me(for marrying a young girl) for I heard the prophet say: on judgment day every means will be cutoff and every lineage severed except my lineage.” He desired to place himself in prophet(Saw)’s lineage through this marriage due to the precedence of Ahl al bayt in the prophet’s intercession. Umm kulthoom bore him two children , Zayd and Ruqayyah. (Biographies of the rightly guided caliphs page 269)

2. Al Aaskari states: He(umar(ra)) was the first to be referred to with the title “Amirul mumineen” the first to establish a muslim calendar starting with the Hijrah….the first to pray, “may Allahy grant you a long life” which he said to Ali and the first to say, “May Allah support you” which he said to Ali, too. (Biographies of the rightly guided caliphs page 199)

3. Another incident which shows love of Umar for the descendants of Prophet (s)

Umar distributed clothes amongst the sons of Sahaba , but there was no good one for Hasan and Hussain. He sent (men) towards Yemen, so they brought clothes for them, than he said : Now I’m feeling glad.
Riyadh un Nadhra, Vol. 8, p. 207
Kinzul Ammal, Vol. 7, p. 106
Talkhis Ibn Asakir, Vol. 4, p. 322

4. Hakim narrated in his “Mustadrak” (#5328) that Umar said: “Ali is best judge between us”. [Sheikh Shuayb Arnawut said chain is saheeh upon conditions of sheikhan Notes on “Musnad” #21122,21123.]

5. When the people of Syria asked Umar for help against the people of Palestine, he made appointed Ali as the ruler (in his absense)

When Umar went to Palestine , he appointed Ali as his vizier.

Siyyar Alam al nubla, Vol. 2, p. 85
Kanzul Ammal Vol. 7 , p. 69

Comment: Umar(ra) didn’t make Uthman(ra) caliph in his absence over madinah, but Ali(ra) this shows how much love Umar(ra) had for Ahlebayt.

6. Sahi bukhari 4.821: Narrated Sa`id bin Jubair: About Ibn `Abbas: `Umar bin Al−Khattab used to treat Ibn `Abbas very favorably `Abdur Rahman bin `Auf said to him. “We also have sons that are equal to him (but you are partial to him.)” `Umar said, “It is because of his knowledge.” Then `Umar asked Ibn `Abbas about the interpretation of the Verse:− ‘When come the Help of Allah and the conquest (of Mecca) (110.1) Ibn `Abbas said. “It portended the death of Allah’s Apostle, which Allah had informed him of.” `Umar said, “I do not know from this Verse but what you know.”

7. Sahi bukhari 5.588:Narrated Ibn `Abbas : `Umar used to admit me (into his house) along with the old men who had fought in the Badr battle. Some of them said (to `Umar), “Why do you allow this young man to enter with us, while we have sons of his own age? ” `Umar said, “You know what person he is.” One day `Umar called them and called me along with them, I had thought he called me on that day to show them something about me (i.e. my knowledge).`Umar asked them, “What do you say about (the Sura): “When comes the help of Allah and the Conquest (of Mecca) And you see mankind entering the Religion of Allah (i.e. Islam) in crowds. ‘So celebrate the Praises Of your Lord and ask for His forgiveness, Truly, He is the One Who accepts repentance and forgives.” (110.1−3) Some of them replied, “We are ordered to praise Allah and repent to Him if we are helped and granted victory.” Some said, “We do not know.” Others kept quiet.`Umar then said to me, “Do you say similarly?” I said, “No.” `Umar said “What do you say then?” I said, “This Verse indicates the approaching of the death of Allah’s Apostle of which Allah informed him. When comes the help of Allah and the Conquest, i.e. the Conquest of Mecca, that will be the sign of your Prophet’s) approaching death, so testify the uniqueness of your Lord (i.e. Allah) and praise Him and repent to Him as He is ready to forgive.” On that, `Umar said, “I do not know about it anything other than what you know.”

8.

Narrated Salem: they said to caliph Umar: we see you treating Ali like you treat no other of the Companions of the Prophet PBUH? he said: He is my Mawla(friend).
Imam al Baqir said: Once two wondering Arabs came to the caliph Umar so that he may Judge between them, So umar said to Ali: O Abu al Hassan why don’t you Judge between them. So he made his ruling on one of the two, Then That wondering Arab said: o Ameer al mumineen(Umar) Do you let this(man) judge between us!? So Umar quickly stood up and shouted at the Man: How dare you, do you not know who this is? He is my Mawla(friend) and the Malwa of every believer and if he’s not your Malwa then you’re not a believer.[Source: bihar al Anwar 40/124.]

10. Ibn Amr ash-Shaybane in “al-Ahad wal mathane” (#2952) narrated that Umar said to Fatima: “There was no one more beloved to me than your father, and no one is more beloved to me after him than you”. Hakim narrated in “Mostadrak” (#4736) that Umar said: “O Fatima, I didn’t see anyone more beloved to prophet (sallalahu alaihi wa ala alihi wa sallam) than you, and no one from people is more beloved to me after your father, than you”. Hakim said chain is authentic upon conditions of two shaykhs.

11. Once Umar called upon Hussain, when Hussain came, he met Abdullah ibn Umar. He (i.e Abdullah ibn Umar said: I haven’t been allowed to meet him. When Hussain came to know this, he returned. Than when he met Umar later, Umar said: Why you didn’t come? Hussain said: When I came to meet you , I saw that Abdullah , your son, has also not been allowed to meet you , so I returned. Upon this, Umar said: Are you like Ibn Umar? He has another status , and you have another status.
Tarikh Baghdad , Vol. 1, p. 141
Sharh Nahjul Balagha, by Ibn Hadeed al Rafidhi, Vol. 3, p. 161

12. We read in al bidaya of Ibn Kathir
When Umar and Uthman would pass near Abbas while they were riding , they would dismount and would go by feet due to respect for him.
Al bidaya wa al nihaya, Vol. 7, p. 162
Istiab ma’ Isaba, Vol. 3, p. 98
Tahzeeb al tahzeeb, Vol. 5, p. 123

Comment: Just see the respect Umar(ra) had for Ahlebayt. This was because the Prophet (s) would also give respect to Abbas
The Prophet (s) would give resect to Abbas like the children respect their father Al bidaya wa al nihaya, Vol. 7, p. 161

13. Abdullah ibn ‘Abdu’r-Rahman ibn ‘Abdu’l-Qari reported that ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab and an Ansari man were sitting together when ‘Abdu’r-Rahman ibn ‘Abdu’l-Qari came and sat with them. ‘Umar said, “We do not want to stop our conversation.” ‘Abdu’r-Rahman said, “I will not sit with those people, Amir al-Mu’minin.” ‘Umar said, “Sit with so-and-so and so-and-so and do not stop our conversation. Then he asked the Ansari, “Who do you think should be the khalif after me?” The Ansari counted off some men among the Muhajirun, but did not mentioned ‘Ali. ‘Umar asked, What do they have against Abu’l-Hasan (i.e. ‘Ali)? By Allah, if he were in charge of them, he would be the best suited to set them on the Path of the Truth.” [Bukhari’s, Al Adab al Mufrad]

Comment: This is the true nature of the relationship between Ahlebayt and Umar(ra). It also shows us that there was nothing in Islam such as divine appointment of caliphs. Had it been so then what stopped Umar(ra) from making Ali(ra) as caliph? When he had made Ali(ra) caliph over madina in his absence without appointing Uthman(ra) as caliph then he what could have stopped him from doing so? And though Umar(ra) loved Ali(ra) yet he leaving it on people’s decision that who should be caliph after him where he suggested few names in which Ali(ra) was included, itself proves that there was nothing in Islam like divinely appointed Caliphate.

14. 159, 160).

15. Umar(ra) kissing the Head of Ali(ra)

A man complained about Ali to umar and when umar looked into the matter he said to ali: Sit down alongside your opponent , o Abu al hasan. Ali’s expression changed and Umar passed judgement concerning the matter, then he said to Ali, Did you get angry, o Abu al hassan, because I treated you and your opponent equally? Ali said, you did not treat me and my opponent equally, o Ameer al momineen , because you honored me and called me Abu al hassan, using my kunyah , but you did not call my opponent by his kunyah. Umar kissed the head of Ali and said, May Allah not keep me in a land where Abu al hassan is not there. (Umar ibn Al khattab, by Salih Abdur Rahman, page 79).

Role of Umar(ra) in marriage of Ali(ra) and Fatima(ra)

1. It is mentioned in their book titled: Kitaab al Amalee by Abu Ja’far al Towsee (a shi’ah scholar and writer) that ‘Ali bin Abi Taalib informed that Abu Bakr and ‘Umar were responsible for his marriage to the Prophet’s daughter Fatimah!

Al Dahaaq bin Muzahim said: I heard ‘Ali bin Abi Taalib mention: I was visited by Abu Bakr and ‘Umar, and they said to me during their visit: Why don’t you approach the Prophet (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and request to marry his daughter Fatimah? I did as they suggested and when I entered upon the Prophet (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), he smiled and said: What has brought you here oh ‘Ali? I then mentioned to him my nearness (in relation) to him and my early acceptance of Islam. I also mentioned my support and assistance of him. He agreed with my statement, at which point I said: Would you marry me to Fatimah… (Kitaab al Amalee vol.1 pg.38)

2. Mulla Baqir Majlisi writes in his book, Jila ul Ayun (Chapter the marriage of Fatima to Ali)

One day , Abu Bakr , Umar and Saad bin Muadh were sitting in the masjid nabwi. Abu Bakr said that the nobles of Quraish asked the Prophet (s) about the hand of Fatima (i.e they wanted to marry her), he replied that the matter of Fatima is with Allah, whomever He wills, He will marry her to him.” And Ali hasn’t talked to the Prophet (s) about this , and in my opinion, nothing is stopping Ali except poverty. Than Abu Bakr said to Umar and Muadh, stand up and lets go to Ali and convince him for asking the hand of Fatima , if poverty is stopping him, than we shall help him. Saad said “You are absolutely correct O Abu Bakr”. So they stood up and then went to Ali. Ali was not present at his home, He had gone to the garden of an Ansari to water it for wages. They reached there, Ali inquired the reason for their coming , upon which Abu Bakr said “You have excelled others in good deeds and you are close to the Prophet (s) also, what is prohibiting you from asking the hand of Fatima. When Ali heard this, his eyes filled with tears. He said “Who doesn’t want to marry Fatima? But due to poverty, I feel shy to express my sentiments.” So they convinced him for this matter and he agreed to go to the Prophet (s). Ali came back to his home, and then went towards the Prophet (s).

Jila ul Ayun, p. 122-123

Bihar al Anwar , Vol. 10, p. 37-38

3. Ali said “I came out of the house of the Prophet (s) and I was very happy, I met Abu Bakr and Umar in the way. They asked me what happened that you are so happy, I said “The Prophet has told me that Allah has married Fatima to me in the heavens, and now he is going to come out of his home and announce it in the public. Abu Bakr and Umar became extremely happy at this and came to masjid nabwi with me . The Prophet reached soon, than he told Bilal to gather Muhajireen and Ansar, which Bilal did. When all the people gathered, than the Prophet sat on the pulpit. After praising God, he said “O Muslims, Gabriel had come to me and informed me that Allah has made the angels witnesses that He has married Fatima to Ali, and has ordered me to marry Fatima to Ali and make all of  you witnesses on the earth.

Comment: These narrations taken from book of shias illustrates the tremendous love and concern present in the hearts of Abu Bakr and ‘Umar for their young brother ‘Ali, and how they intended all good for him by advising him to seek marriage to the Prophet’s daughter Fatimah.

Note: Some shian e dajjal raise an argument that wasn’t Prophet(saw) pleased with Abubakar(ra) and Umar(ra) that when they approached to marry Fatima(ra) , Prophet(saw) denied their request? The reason why prophet(Saw) denied to marry fatima(ra) to hz abubakar(ra) and hz umar(ra) was given by prophet(saw) in the narration itelf (i.e she was still young ) which shias bring and moreover there was other reasons too like prophet(Saw) didn’t wanted his daughter to marry his father in laws. Since two wives of prophet(Saw)(mothers of Fatima) would then become the daughters of fatima(ra). So the wives of prophet(Saw) and hz fatima(ra) would then be sharing dual relation(i.e of daughters as well as mothers).

The love Ahlebayt had for Umar(ra)

1. Abdullah ibn Ahmad ibn Hanbal narrated in his Sunnan (№1302, p 557):

حدثني أبي حدثنا أسباط عن عمرو بن قيس قال سمعت جعفر بن محمد يقول برئ الله ممن تبرأ من أبي بكر وعمر

Narrated to me my father, he said: narrated to me Asbat from Amr ibn Qays, which said: I heard Jafar ibn Muhammad saying: Allah disassociate  himself from those who disassociate themselves from Abu Bakr and Umar.[Editor of book, Muhammad al-Qahtani noticed that chain is authentic.]

[Dhahabi in “Siyar alamun nubala” (6/260) said: “This saying of Jafar is mutawater”.]

2. There is a long sermon of ‘Alee in ‘Nahj ul-Balaaghah’. When it was the time for Jihaad against the Persians ‘Umar (radi-Allaahu ‘anhu) intended to go himself in the battlefield so he sought the counsel of ‘Alee. ‘Alee advised him not to go and said to him,O ‘Umar you are the peg of the Arabs. If you leave this land of Madeenah then the Arab lands will be destroyed from all directions and tomorrow if the non-Arabs(Persians) look at you they will most certainly say you are one of the pillar of the foundation of the Arabs, If we do away with him we will be in peace.” In this way this will heighten their eagerness against you and their keenness to aim at you. please do not leave.”[Nahj ul-Balaaghah. (sermon 145)].

Also we find in this sermon that:

– Umar(as) was spreading ALLAH’S RELIGION during his Reign

– Muslim army mobilized during Umar’s caliphate was ALLAH’S ARMY

– Allah will SUPPORT Muslim army during Umar’s reign

-During Umar’s Caliphate Arab’s were strong due to ISLAM.

Ofcourse, No one can deny that the Islam that was being spread during the Caliphate of Umar(as) was the Sunni version of Islam, that is the Sunni beliefs.

Comment : We find the care and concern Ahlebayt had for Umar(ra). They didn’t want to loose Umar(ra) and considered that it would be disastorous for Muslims if something happens to Umar(ra).

3. Ali (radi Allahu anh) said:

لا يجتمع حبي وبغض أبي بكر وعمر في قلب مؤمن

“Love of me, and hate of Abu Bakr and Umar couldn’t be together in the soul of believer” [Mukhtasar Tarih Madinatul Dimashk 1/895]

Similar words  were narrated by sheikh Nabhani in “Ash-Sharaful Muabad li ali Muhammad” p 205; Ibn Hajar al-Heythami in “Sawaiq al-muhriqa” (2/452, Muasasat Risala, Beirut); Ajurri “Shariah”.

4. Ali (ra) tells his children to call `Umar (ra) their “Uncle”

We read in al-Sunan al-Kubra we read:

[…al-Hasan bin al-Hasan bin `Ali bin abi Talib narrated: from his father al-Hasan ibn `Ali: that `Umar ibn al-Khattab (ra) asked `Ali (ra) for the hand of Umm Kulthoum, so `Ali (ra) said: “She is too young for this.” so `Umar (ra) said: I heard the messenger of Allah say: “every cause and relation will be cut on the day of judgement except for my cause and relation” So I liked to have a relation to the Prophet (SAWS). So `Ali (ra) said to Hasan and Husayn: “Get your uncle married.” they said (jokingly): “She is a woman from among the women now, she can pick for herself.” so `Ali (ra) stood up angrily (and wanted to leave) but al-Hasan (ra) grabbed his clothes and said: “O dear father, we cannot bear your anger.” so they married her to him.]

5. In old, worn out shabby looking clothes, Amir Al-Mu’minin, Ali Bin Abi Taleb, sat saying grace to Allah. Abu Mariam, one of the servants, sat on his knees close to Ali and whispered: “Amir Al-Mu’minin, I have something to ask of you.” Ali said: “What is it that you want to ask?” Abu Mariam said: “That you throw away the clothes you are wearing. They are old and ripped and do not go well with your position.” Ali Bin Abi Taleb put the tip of his clothes on his eyes and started to cry until his weeping was loud. In embarrassment, Abu Mariam said: “O Amir Al-Mu’minin, if I knew that it meant so much to you I would not have asked you to take it off.” Ali said while wiping his tears: “O Abu Mariam, my love for this jacket is increasing. It was a gift from my friend and beloved companion.” Oddly, Abu Mariam asked: “And who is this friend of yours O Amir?” Ali said: “ ‘Umar Ibn Al Khattab. He was the best of friends.” He then started to weep once again until the sound of his suppressed cries could be heard from afar.[ Source: Translated from “100 Stories from the Life of Ali Bin Abi Taleb” by Muhammad Sedeeq Al Minshawi, Dar Al Fadeela Publishing, 2002]

Comment: Just see how much love there was between Umar(ra) and Ahlebayt, because this statement was made by Ali(ra) during his caliphate, he wasn’t under any kind of taqiyya.

6. In At-tuyuriyyaat, jafar ibn muhamad reports on the authority of his father that a man said to Ali: We hear you say in your khutbah:O Allah! A person who clings to them becomes a members of All’s party. (Biographies of the rightly guided caliphs page 344)

Comment: Member of Ahlebayt clarifies that he never heard any of his family members(prophets family) who speak bad of Umar(ra).

8. When the issue of denying fadak reached hz ali so he Ali’s reply (ra) was:”I am ashamed before Allah to overturn something that was prohibited by Abu Bakr and continued(i.e the decision of abubakar) by Umar.
Sharh Nahjul balagha, Vol. 4, p. 130

That is why Ahlebayt named their children on the name of Umar on the name of  Umar ibn khattab(ra) :

1. Ali(ra) named one of his son Umar this is recorded by the classical Shia scholars, [See At-Tubrasî, I`lâm Al-Warâ, p. 203, Al-Mufîd, Al-Irshâd, p. 186, Al-Ya`qûbî, Târîkh, 2:213, Abul-Faraj Al-Asfahânî, Maqâtil At-Tâlibiyyîn, p. 142, Al-Arbîlî, Kashful-Ghummah, 2:64, and Al-Majlisî, Jalâ’ Al-`Uyûn, p. 182.]

2. Ibn taqtaqi says: (Ameer al Momineen)commander of the faithful’s children who didn’t have any offspring were fifteen(15). ….Umar al asghar whose mother was umm al baneen. (al aseeli, page 56-58, tahqeeq by mahdi alrijaai)

3. Hasan(ra) also named one of his son Umar as found in [Shaykh Mufid’s book (Kitab al-Irshad, pp.289-290), Al-Ya`qûbî, Târîkh, 2:228, Jamâlud-Dîn Ahmad Ibn `Alî Ibn `Inabah (d. 828/ 1424), `Umdat Al-Tâlib fî Nasab Âl Abû Tâlib, p. 81, Al-Qummî, Muntahâ Al-Âmâl, 1:240, and Al-Mashgharî, Al-Fusûl Al-Muhimmah, p. 166.]

4. Al-Husayn named one of his sons Umar, [See At-Tubrasî, I`lâm Al-Warâ, p. 213, Al-Ya`qûbî, At-Târîkh (History), 2:228, Abul-Faraj Al-Asfahânî, Maqâtil At-Tâlibiyyîn, pp. 78, 119, Al-Mas`ûdî, At-Tanbîh wal-Ishrâf, p.263, and Al-Majlisî, Jalâ’ Al-`Uyûn, p. 582.]

5. The fourth Imam of the Shia named one of his son Umar (Kitab al-Irshad, p.391)

Here is detailed info:

Umar Bin Al Atraf Bin Ali Ibn Abi Talib:
His Mother is Umm Habib AlSahba’a al Taghlubiyah Min Sabi AlRida “أم حبيب الصهباء التغلبية من سبي الردة”. from “Al Silsilah al Alawiyah” for Abi al Nasr al bukhari Al Shi’i P123 under “Nasab Umar el Atraf” “نسب عمر الأطرف” Also in “Mountaha el Amal” for Abbas el Qummi 261/1 who said “عمر ورقية الكبرى التوأمان ” “Umar and The Elder Ruqayyah were twins” and in Bihar el Anwar 120/42.

Umar Bin al Hassan bin Ali ibn Abi Talib:
His Mother is Umm Walad he died with his uncle Hussein in Karbala, mentioned in “Umdat el Talib” for Ibn Anabah P116 and Tareekh el Ya’aqoobi P228 under the children of Hassan.
Al Ya’aqoobi Said: “Al Hassan had 8 Male children and they are…And Zaid…and Umar and Al Qassim and Abu Bakr and Abdul Rahman fro other wives and Talha and Abdullah…”

Umar al Ashraf Bin Ali Zain el Abedeen Bin al Hussein:
His Mother is umm walad and he is called “Al Ashraf” because he comes from a Husseini(Father) and a Hassaniyah(Mother) as opposed to Umar Al Atraf who only comes from Ali ibn Abi Talib thus the word “Atraf” which means “One Side”, Mentionned in Al irshad for Al mufid 261 and Umdat el Talib for Ibn Anabah P223. He is also mentioned in Many Zaidi Shiite Narrations.

Umar Bin Yahya bin al hussein Bin Zaid Bin Ali Bin Hussein bin Ali Bin Abi Talib:
mentioned by Mohammad Al A’alami al Ha’iri “محمد الأعلمي الحائري ” in “Tarajim A’alam el Nisa’a” Under the name of Bint Al Hassan Bin Ubayd Allah Bin Ja’afar al Tayyar P359.

Umar Bin Musa el Kathim Bin Ja’afar el Sadik:
mentioned by Ibn Al Khashab in The Children of Musa el Kathim.
Al Khashab said:” 20 Sons With Umar and Aqil and 18 daughters “

This is mentioned in “Tawarikh el Nabi wal Aal” “تواريخ النبي والآل لمحمد تقي التستري” For Mohammad Taki el Tastari.

Why did Ali(ra) name his son Umar?

It was reported from Abu Saeed al-Khudri, he once saw a beautiful boy near Ali, and asked who that is? Ali answered: “This is Uthman ibn Ali. I named him after Uthman ibn Affan. I also named my children after Umar ibn al-Khattab, uncle of prophet (Peace be upon him) – Abbas, and after the chief of all creation – Muhammad (Peace be upon him). As for al-al-Hasan and al-Husayn and Muhsin, they were named by prophet (Peace be upon him)” [Ali Muhammad as-SalabiSiratul Amiralmuminin Ali ibn Abu Talib” p 141 [al Mukhtasar min kitab al Muwafaqah bayn Ahlul-Bayt wal Sahabah by al Zamakhshari, page 141]

Baladhari in ansaab al ashraaf reports that : Umar ibn khattab named Umar ibn Ali on his name and and sent a slave to them whose name was Morakh. (ansaab al ashraaf  vol 2, page 12)

Note: Some people have a misconception regarding the names of children of Ahlebayt. They claim that the sons of Imams were named AMR , they were not named UMAR. This is incorrect because Amr when written in Arabic is written like this Amro “عمرو”  where “و ” is silent. Both Umar and Amr are not written the same way as the shias think. Let us present before you a narration where Umar ibn Ali was the narrator in shia hadees:

حدثني عيسى بن جعفر بن محمد بن عبدالله بن محمد بن عمر بن علي بن أبي طالب عليهم السلام عن آبائه، عن عمر بن علي، عن أبيه علي بن أبي طالب عليه السلام،

Ma’ani al-Akhbar 10 – Chapter , Volume 1

Thus all the Imams indeed named their sons as Umar not Amr. And the ones who thought that it was Amr were mistaken. And there were many more grand sons of Hussain(ra) who were named Umar. You will find more 13 members who were named umar from  Ahlebayt, For details refer  (Relationships between Ahlebayt and Sahaba by Abu muaz saeed bin Ahmed bin Ibrahim’ page 40 – 47). Since apart from giving all the details of these names ,even the different misconceptions of shias have been cleared in this book.

Because of this affection and love Ali(ra) married his own daughter to umar(ra)

Both sides realize how important the issue of Umm Kulthoom’s marriage is when it comes to the Shia-Sunni “dialogue” (or rather, the Shia-Sunni cage-match to the death). If the Ahlus Sunnah could establish that Ali did in fact give his daughter (Umm Kulthoom) in marriage to Umar, it would pretty much destroy the entire Shia paradigm and the theology based upon this paradigm. The Shia deviation from the mainstream Islam in matters of faith was a result of their belief in the oppression of Ali and the Ahlel Bayt by the likes of Umar bin Khattab and his supposed “henchmen”; thus, if Ali gave his daughter to Umar, it would really pop the balloon of Shi’ism.

Here we will be providing extremely authentic Sunni and shia sources approving this marriage:

Authentic Sunni narration:

Tha`laba ibn Abī Mālik said: ‘`Umar (ra) divided up some garments among some of the women of Madīna. One excellent garment remained and one of those with him said: ‘Commander of the believers! Give this to the (grand) daughter of the Messenger of Allāh (saws) to whom you are married—meaning Umm Kulthūm the daughter of `Alī. `Umar (ra) replied: ‘Umm Salīţ is more entitled. Umm Salīţ was one of the people of Anşār who had given allegiance to the Messenger of Allāh (saws).’ `Umar (ra) added: ‘She carried waterskins for us on the day of Uĥud.’” [Şaĥīĥ al-Bukhārī, of Abū `Abd Allāh al-Bukhārī (d. 256), volume 3, page 222 [Beirut]]

Authentic shia narrations:

Two shia SAHIH narrations based on their Sanad and the saying of their scholars of Hadith which confirm the marriage of umm Kalthoum bint Ali RAA to the second Caliph, Ameer al Mumineen Umar bin al Khattab RAA.

1st Narration:

Hameed bin Ziad from Ibn Sama’ah, from Muhamad bin Ziad from Abdullah bin Sinan and Muawiyah bin Ammar from Abu Abdullah PBUH: I asked him about the woman whose husband is died, Does she spend her iddat Period in her house or wherever she wants? Imam replied: Wherever She wants, For Ali PBUH when Umar had died he came to his house and took umm Kalthoum to his house.

Collection of  narrations which confirms this marriage from Both shia and sunni sources [Collection 1] , [collection 2], [collection 3].

Here we have collected few of Deceptions of shiatu dajjal which were exposed when they tried to reject this bitter(for them) reality, that is marriage of daughter of Ali(ra) with Umar(ra):

[Deception 1] ; [Deception 2] ; [Deception 3] ; [Deception 4] ; [Deception 5] ; [Deception 6] ; [Deception 7].

Note: This fact that Umar(ra) married own daughter of Ali(ra) is acknowledged by no less than 20 esteemed shia scholars.

Reaction of Ahlebayt after death of Umar:

1. Ali participated in the funeral ceremony of Umar. Hence we read in al Kamil
al-Kamil, Vol. 3, p. 28

2.

Al-Fasawi in “Al-M’arifah wa At-Tarikh” (2/745, Ar-Risalah) said: Narrated to us Sufiyan who said, narrated to us Ja’far (As-Sadiq) from his father from Jabir bin Abdullah who said, “Ali reached Umar while he was lying on his death bed. So he (Ali) said, “sallallahu alaika………”.
Similarly it has been narrated by Ibn Shabbah in “Tarikh Al-Madina” (3/937&940), it is also present in “Al-Mustadrak” (4523)

Comment: Ali(ra) sent SALAT on Umar(ra), so those who think that they are loving Ali( by adding (Alaisalam) after his name, then they should even follow the sunnah of Ali(ra), because he said “sallallahu alaika” to Umar.

3. Narrated Ibn `Abbas: When (the dead body of) `Umar was put on his deathbed, the people gathered around him and invoked(Allah) and prayed for him before the body was taken away, and I was amongst them. Suddenly I felt somebody taking hold of my shoulder and found out that he was `Ali bin Abi Talib. `Ali invoked Allah’s Mercy for `Umar and said, “O `Umar! You have not left behind you a person whose deeds I like to imitate and meet Allah with more than I like your deeds. By Allah! I always thought that Allah would keep you with your two companions, for very often I used to hear the Prophet saying,’I, Abu Bakr and `Umar went (somewhere); I, Abu Bakr and `Umar entered (somewhere); and I, Abu Bakr and Umar went out.”‘(sahi bukhari 5.34)

Similar report is even mentioned in shia book:

على رضي الله عنه وقد دخل على الفاروق رضي الله عنه بعد وفاته وهو مسجى فيقول: لوددت ان القى الله تعالى بصحيفة هذا المسجى ، وفي رواية: إني لأرجو الله ان القى الله تعالى بصحيفة هذا المسجى –

When ‘Umar passed away and his body was washed and shrouded ‘Ali glanced at him and said: I would not love to meet Allah with another person’s book of deeds other than this shrouded man’s book.

4. We read in Shia book Nahj Al-Balagha Sermon 226-So and so did good for God’s sake …

About a companion who passed away from this world before the occurrence of troubles

May Allah reward such and such man [1] who straightened the curve, cured the disease, abandoned mischief and established the sunnah. He departed (from this world) with untarnished clothes and little shortcomings. He achieved good (of this world) and remained safe from its evils. He offered Allah’s obedience and feared Him as He deserved. He went away and left the people in dividing ways wherein the misled cannot obtain guidance and the guided cannot attain certainty.[Najhul Balagha Sermon 226]

(1). Ibn Abi’l-Hadid has written (in Sharh Nahj al-balaghah, vol. 14, pp. 3-4) that the reference here is to the second Caliph `Umar, and that these sentences have been uttered in his praise as indicated by the word ‘`Umar’ written under the word ‘such and such’ in as-Sayyid ar-Radi’s own hand in the manuscript of Nahj al-balaghah written by him.

5. Narrated Al−Miswar bin Makhrama: When `Umar was stabbed, he showed signs of agony. Ibn Abbas, as if intending to encourage `Umar, said to him, “O Chief of the believers! Never mind what has happened to you, for you have been in the company of Allah’s Apostle and you kept good relations with him and you parted with him while he was pleased with you. Then you were in the company of Abu Bakr and kept good relations with him and you parted with him (i.e. he died) while he was pleased with you. Then you were in the company of the Muslims, and you kept good relations with them, and if you leave them, you will leave them while they are pleased with you.“( Sahi bukhari 5.41).

6. Fada’il al-Sahabah lil-Daraqutni page.43 Hadith #19:

[Ja`far bin Muhammad bin Nusayr (Thiqah) -> `Ubayd bin Muhammad bin Subayh (La Ba’sa Bihi) -> Muhammad ibn `Umar bin al-Walid al-Kindi (Saduq Hasan) -> Ishaq bin Mansour al-Salouli (Thiqah Shi`ee) -> Salam bin Sa`d al-Khuza`ee (Thiqah) -> Ayyub al-Sikhtiyani (Thiqah Thabt Imam) -> Ja`far ibn Muhammad al-Sadiq (Thiqah Faqih) -> Muhammad ibn `Ali al-Baqir (Thiqah). He said: When `Umar was stabbed, he sent after some of the people of Badr who sat in a circle between the grave and the Mimbar: “By Allah, were you pleased with this?” They remained silent, so `Ali said: “By Allah No! We wish to take from our own lives so we can add to the life of `Umar.“]

Comment: These were the words from member of Ahlebayt just before the death of Umar(ra).

Killer of Umar(ra) was a Majoosi Kafir.

As per Ibn Abbas(RA) killer of Umar(ra) was a Majoosi Kafir.

Abdullah Ibn Umar said: “When Aboo Lu’lu’ah stabbed Umar he stabbed him twice. Umar was thinking that maybe he done injustice to someone amongst the people – so he (Umar) called Ibn Abbas who loved, adored and listened to him, then he (Umar) said: “O Ibn ‘Abbas! Find out who attacked me.” Ibn Abbas kept on looking here and there and found no one but people crying, he then said to Umar, “O Amir Al-Mu’minin (commander of the faithful) I’ve seen no one except people crying as if they have lost their first born children today.” Umar asked: “Who killed me?” Ibn Abbas said: Aboo Lu’lu’ah the Majoosi (Zoroastrian), the slave of Al-Mughira.” Ibn Abbas said: “I saw happiness in the face of Umar.” On that Umar said: “‘Praise be to Allah Who did not make my decree of death to be at the hands of a man who claimed Islam. Source: [Mu’jam al-Awsat, Vol. 1, page. 181-182, Tradition #579] ; Similarly [Majma ul Zawaid, Vol. 9, page 74-76]. Also, [Umar(RA) ; Ibn Umar(RA) ; Amr bin Maymoon ; Yahya bin Abdur Rahman and Abu Salamah ; Mohammad bin Amr bin Alqamah considered considered killer of Umar(RA) a Kafir Majoosi].

Why was Umar(ra) buried beside Prophet(saw), Ahlebayt clarifies:

Why was umar(ra) buried beside prophet(Saw) :

Bahrani mentioned in the durra Najafia that what one gets from the collective of the news that the person is burried only in the earth from which he was created. So study the sahiha of Muhammad bin muslim from one of the two (Alayhima Assalam) said: whoever is created from a soil is burried in it.
From Assadiq (alayhi Assalam) that the Nutfa (clot) when it falls in the womb, Allah sends an angel to take from the soil in which he is going to be burried abd puts it in the Nutfa. so his heart will continue to miss it until he is burried in it.

3.
From Saleh bin sahel he said: I said to Abu Abdullah (alayhi Assalam): May I die for you from what thing did Allah created the soil of the mumin. He responded: from the soil of the prophets so it will never be Najas.

Comment: We know that hz abubakar(ra) and hz umar(ra) are buried beside prophet(Saw) , because they were created from that soil  beside where Prophet(Saw) is resting. And we don’t believe that Prophet(saw) is buried in soil surrounded by impurity.  He is surrounded by extremely pure soil, by which Abubakar(ra) and Umar(ra) were created.

Conclusion:

So these were few examples for the true nature of relationship between  Ahlebayt(ra) and Umar(ra). But we will find that the shiatu dajjal will not be able to tolerate when they will find this sweet(bitter for them) truth, and they will come up with a set of fabrications or misinterpretations inorder to malign the personality of Umar(ra). But we urge our esteemed readers to ponder over this side of the coin which we have presented, instead of being deceived by the satanic tactics of shiatu dajjal.

We pray to Allah that HE(swt) protects muslims from the traps of shiatu dajjal, and to remove the rancour for belivers as quran says: “Our Lord, forgive us and [forgive] our brethren who preceded us in faith. And do not put in our hearts rancour towards the Believers”(59:10) And to help muslims to discover the true nature of relationships of Umar and Ahlebayt, which is opposite of what the shian e dajjal portray.

O you who believe! Stand out firmly for Allah and be just witnesses and let not the enmity and hatred of others make you avoid justice. Be just: that is nearer to piety, and fear Allah. Verily, Allah is Well-Acquainted with what you do} [Al-Maeda 5:8]

Say: “Truth has (now) arrived, and Falsehood perished: for Falsehood is (by its nature) bound to perish.” Quran (17:81)

Masha Allah, a very beneficial article, it covers so many topics, I would say it is absolutely unique for the english speaking audiance. Keep exposing the true takfeeris, the shia twelvers, for they hatred and prejudice has made them to extreme takfiris.

  3. May Allah reward you akhi.

Unfortunately, our shia friends are not aware of the real relationship between Sahaba (ra) and Ahlulbait(ra). I urge all brothers to share these articles with your shia friends.

`Ismah al-Basri narrated: We were in the mosque when a man came and belittled Abu Bakr and `Umar then verbally abused `Uthman, so I entered on `Ali bin abi Talib and said: “O commander of faithful, there is a man in the mosque who belittled Abu Bakr and `Umar then insulted `Uthman.” So he said: “Bring him to me!” After they brought him the man, he said: “Who testified against him?” I and those who were with me all testified, so he ordered that he be stepped on then said: “Take this one to the markets so that the people might see him and recognize him. Then send him away as he must not live near me.” `Ali stood up and we stood with him and he climbed on the pulpit and praised God and thanked him then said: “The best of this nation after its Prophet (saw) are Abu Bakr and `Umar and if I wished to name the third I would name him.”[Dulabi]

Similar to: A man came to Ameer ‘Ali (ra) and said to him: “What is wrong with you, that the people disagreed on you and ‘Uthman, while they agreed on Abu Bakr and ‘Umar?” so ‘Ali answered: “The people agreed on Abu Bakr and ‘Umar when the people were me and ‘Uthman, and they disagreed on me and ‘Uthman when they were like you and your likes.”

  6. Shia scholar Ali bin moosa tabreezi in his book miraat al kutub vol 6 page 712

Tabreezi says: what is intended by the word fulan here is the second khalipha(Umar), even though others say that someone else is intended. The Imami explanation for this is that , it was to win the hearts of his followers.

To update under Nahjul balagha sermon in praise of Umar(ra)

  7. In Sharh Nahj-ul-Balaghah 12/3-4:

    Ibn Abi al Hadid comments:

The so-and-so intended by him is ‘Umar ibn al Khattab. I have a copy with the writing of al Rida Abu al Hassan, the compiler of Nahj al Balaghah with ‘Umar written under so-and-so. Fakhar ibn Ma’d al Musawi al Awadi al Sha’ir informed me of this.

I asked al Naqib Abu Jafar Yahya ibn Abi Zaid al ‘Alawi about it and he told me, “It is ‘Umar.”

I said surprisingly, “Does Amir al Mu’minin praise him in these glowing words?”

    “Yes,” he replied.

Ibn Abi al Hadid(d. 656) writes: Narrated to me Fakhaar bin Ma’ad al-Musavi al-awdi(d. 630) the poet, “I asked the head of the order of Ahlul-Bayt, abu Ja`far Yahya bin abi Zayd al-`Alawi(d. 613) [about this matter] and he said: “`Umar bin al-Khattab”, I told him: “Would the chief of believers praise him this much!?” He replied: “Yes.””[Sharh Nahj-ul-Balaghah, ibn Abi al-Hadid 12/4]

    1. [1/223] Rijal al-Kashshi: Muhammad b. Masud from Ali b. al-Hasan b. Fadhal from al-Abbas b. A’mir and Ja’far b. Muhammad b. Hukaym from Aban b. Uthman al-Ahmar from Abi Basir who said: I was seated at Abi Abdillah’s عليه السلام place when Umm Khalid – whose hand had been cut by Yusuf [b. Umar] – came seeking permission to see him. Abu Abdillah عليه السلام said [to me]: Would you like to hear her speech? I said: Yes, may I be made your ransom. He said: Then draw near, and he made me sit upon the rug [which he was seated on]. She entered and spoke and I found her to be a very eloquent woman. She asked him about so and so [Abu Bakr and Umar], so he said to her: Deem them to be your leaders, she said: Do you allow me to say to my Lord when I meet him that you ordered me to take them as my authorities? He said: Yes. She said: [I ask this] because this one who is with you on the rug [i.e. Abu Basir] orders me to disassociate from them while Kathir al-Nawwa orders me to take them as authorities, so which one is more beloved to you? He [the Imam] said: This one [i.e. Abu Basir] and his companions are by Allah more beloved to me than Kathir al-Nawwa and his fellows. This one [i.e. Abu Basir] argues by saying: “whoever does not judge by what Allah has revealed – then it is those who are the disbelievers” (5:44), “and whoever does not judge by what Allah has revealed – then it is those who are the wrongdoers” (5:45), “and whoever does not judge by what Allah has revealed – then it is those who are the defiantly disobedient” (5:47). So when she had departed he said: I feared that she will go and inform Kathir [if I would have answered her to disassociate from the two directly] who would then make this infamous about me in Kufa. O Allah I resort to you in disassociating myself from Kathir in this world and the hereafter.
